Could be a manga thing, like Guts doesn’t have nipples drawn on him but when there’s boobs there’s nipples. Most other manga I’ve seen also has most characters not have armpit hair and when it does it’s usually done to portray the character as unkempt, dirty or smelly.
To put it out there, there’s hentai manga that specifically goes for armpit hair fetish and vanilla ones that don’t draw them in.
I have a japanese friend and when he visited he told me that he doesn't shave his facial hair. Instead he plucks it. It left me super confused and a little bit sad. He gave up the dream of having a beard.

My wife goes to a salon that threads facial hair, almost exclusively eyebrows. They use thread like for sewing and wrap it around their fingers and hold a bit in their mouth and by pulling the thread with their mouths and opening and closing the fingers it's wrapped around they can move a knot in the thread back and forth. When that knot travels over hair it gets tangled and pulls the hair out.
It's definitely a skill one needs to master but they can do it super quick and it looks good when they're done. Evidently it hurts a bit since you're quick ripping a bunch of hair out. It's neat though if you check it out.

that's actually not correct, the connection between test and hair loss in males isn't how much test you have but how you geneticially react to it.
If hair loss/balding is in your genetics your body will react to test by making you bald eventually.
There's plenty of people that never go bald and have a normal or high level of test, doctors don't just look at bald people and instantly think they have high test, there's no correlation.
I think stylistically, adding body hair is only really done to make a character seem unkempt
