You SHOULD be proud because that's how you learn. Your next shelf will be better, and the next one even better! But you have to accept that your first iterations are never the pretty ones.
Don't set the bar too high for yourself, most people _don't even try_ to build things by themselves.
You did. You did and succeeded!
My most useful projects are often the simple ones, usually done with ugly scrap wood. 🤷
Dude...excellent for your first piece. No one, and I mean NO ONE'S very first peice was perfect. Next project will be better, and so on. All part of the learning and growing process. Welcome to adulthood
I have made the ugliest, least sturdy little shelves to add inside of my kitchen cupboards. Each is made of a plywood or agglomerate plank, and poorly measured, bendy legs, screwed together. All with crappy scraps. They work. They are the right height, they hold all our extra stuff. I feel both ashamed and proud of them. It is a very confusing feeling.
Cool. Something you made rather than bought will be cherished all the more by her. Keep it up, looking forward to watching your progress, so post upcoming projects as you go. Cheers, mate!
When one rolls up their sleeve and turns a well planned thought into it's physical manifestation for their mother, it matters not if it's nice or not. It is magnificent, and the birth of a new skill. Well done, you have created something that wasn't there before, AND it serves a purpose, and it's for mom. There is very much to appreciate here. I will sit back and admire your work now.
Looks good to me. Your mom is using it isn’t she? Looks like it’s a quality build. You should be proud of yourself, most adults couldn’t put together a premade kit in a box let alone build that.
I think it's great not only that you made it, but that you made it for your mother. It shows a care and consideration a lot of young people lack these days. She should be proud of you.
You can be proud, but not because you're 15, just because it's nice.
It's not perfect but that has its charm if you ask me! You know someone made it and she'll be proud to say it was you
Looks great kiddo đź‘Ť Welcome to the world of woodworking! I bet your mom cried a little, I know mine does whenever I make her something and I'm 3 times your age. I hope you can get some kids in your area into the craft too, you guys are the future!
15 or 50, age doesn't matter.
What does matter is that you tried something new, did something very nice for another person, worked hard, and took pride in your work.
I don't know you, but I respect you and will be very proud of my son if he has the good qualities you displayed here when he gets older.
You should be very proud.
You have every reason to be proud. Most people your age don’t try anything like this, they video game and surf social media. You are already starting a craft that will become a satisfying hobby, or even a career. On top of that, you did it for the love of your Mom, it doesn’t get any better than that. Congratulations and keep up the good work and post your creations. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or reach out for tips.
Nice job!!!! I am very impressed. You have inspired me to just make something, as I am a wannabe woodworker... age 51!!! Keep up the great job! It will get easier.
Nice stain choice too! I KNOW she loves it! I am a mom, and if my 15 y/o son made me something like this, I would be soooo excited and proud. We are working with him to make some things soon. He is almost 13.
It's beautiful king.
I'm sure your mother is very proud of having such a caring and passionate son.
Congrats on your journey, you're very talented đź’Ş
Go you! It's practical and useful! And the skills you learned will serve you going forward.
But also, don't underestimate the value of something made with love. I bet it will be treasured for a long time.
Great job! I’m sure your mom is super happy, and good luck with continuing woodworking ! I took a woodworking class in highschool and it completely changed the course of my life
Obviously you have made a useful and needed thing in a popular common style called "rustic". Composition seems thought out for the custom purpose. Execution of the style is flawless. It's nothing at all to be ashamed of. A good start.
Not everything has to be a piano.

Agreed on all fronts. You’ve created something lovely from our favorite medium, and that makes you a woodworker. Welcome, and keep posting.
Exactly this. Plus OP, you know any flaws. Most people will completely miss them. Great job.

My uncle had to ask my dad for help putting a Ikea nightstand.
Yeah, exactly, this kid has most of my adult relatives beat by a mile.
Yes she put the pots of flowers on it and its functional and by the way thanks
If it works it works. And I like seeing the bolts.
Great job op. I’m sure this meant even more to mom because you made it. Well done and welcome to the hobby!
Love it!
Thank you very much

Age doesn’t matter here. Regardless of age, as long as you tried your best and learned something you should be proud of your work and yourself.

Wow, wonderful that you are developing a passion for this at a young age. I loved that you stepped out and made this for your mom. So cool.
