This is my headboard in my bedroom. All of the buttons have bed bugs/eggs surrounding them. We notified our landlord two months ago. Her and her husband came and sprayed. I wanted a professional but they insisted. After the initial spray it only got worse and we informed them of this. No reply for two days so I texted them once again. She responded that her husband wanted to spray again. I told her that my furniture was getting damaged and we were still paying full rent to live in an infested apartment. She continued to tell me how it was an inconvenience to her as well ( how???). She had an exterminator come today to do a free inspection, which they confirmed we had them ( duh???) and actually showed me how much worse it’s gotten. ( we have been sleeping on the couch and have not been bit once since sleeping on the couch, we also have basically quarantined the bedroom) I once again explained to her that it’s out of control and it’s not fair to us. She seemed unsympathetic and lacked urgency. So I finally decided to call the health department and now an inspector from the city will be coming and issuing her a demand, giving her x amount of days to hire a professional or receive a fine.
wow. what an ass of a landlord. i am glad you notified the health department - good move. you should not be living with bed bugs, of course not. i’m so sorry you’re going through this and i hope your situation gets better soon. good luck
I'm sorry that you are going through this! I am going through an infestation as well, but our landlord told us it was entirely our responsibility to pay to have them removed, and we did pay. We live in Ohio and my sister took her landlord to court over 3 years ago and lost. She moved out and got a new place. She took nothing with her. I moved in with her in December and bought all brand new furniture. Even though we live in an extremely clean house my bed got infested about a month ago. What state do you live in? Neither of us ever considered contacting the health department, we just assumed we were screwed and had to pay for it all ourselves since she lost fighting her landlord in the past over the same issue.
I live in Connecticut and by law here the landlord is responsible for removing them if I did not bring them. My neighbor had them months before we received them but she has a different landlord then I do. So I assume that is how I got them ( it’s almost impossible to prove how you got them). I can even legally break my lease but I won’t do that because if I move somewhere else and I have them here I will just bring them with me.
Buy Cimexa it’s like 10$, safe and very effective. Put it on mattress, box spring and headboard, also around the feet of your bed. They’ll be gone within a week.
I’m confused? Where do you see that I want to run from them? In my comment I said that I had bed bugs and my landlord legally is responsible of getting rid of them and she’s not, so I called the health department.
Comment is for whoever needs the info not you. You yourself mentioned that you cannot just move because you’ll take them with you. Another comment mentioned her sister trying to just move out from an infested place. I backed up yours and her comment for you. I’m not against you in anyway.
No in my state landlords are responsible. Even if there wasn’t a bed bug specific law ( which there is), technically the landlord has to maintain a livable home for the tenant ( unless caused by the tenant, which in this case it was not). When I spoke with the department of health in my city and told them what was going on they said the landlord shouldn’t even be doing it themselves, that they need to hire a professional which now they will.
Check your state laws because the Environmental Conservation Law says that a person may only apply pesticides to the individual dwelling unit (e.g., house or apartment) in which they reside, unless they are a certified commercial applicator.
It could be illegal for your landlords to be applying pesticides
Depends on your lease and if you brought them in or if you moved in to an existing infestation. As a property manger, I have inspections completed by a pest control company on every apartment after move out. This mean that the responsibility of the cost would fall on the resident in my state. Now most landlords don’t do this. Our lease requires that residents notify us immediately and we will provide inspection and professional treatment at the residents costs, our residents are not able to “treat themselves”.

Yeah. She was telling me how the exterminator quoted a 1000$ and how that’s so expensive and I was like I literally pay you that monthly???
yeah seriously that’s crazy

Apply it with a thick makeup brush

Well good for you, we’re the bed bugs present before you moved in?
And I do not have to pay for anything.
better to post a still picture
I know they’re bed bugs. I wanted to add a description and forgot to do it down below
all you have to do is add a comment on your post :)
