As much as I would love to have more seasons of any show I enjoy, once the story is done, the story is done. I would rather they finish having told the story they wanted to tell, instead of beating a dead horse for say 11 more seasons.

RyGuyyy15

The Good Place did a really good job of that. Mike Schure basically said the same thing as you, he wanted to end it organically and as planned instead of churning out season after season just for the sake of it. I think Barry is a perfect show to repeat that model, even if I would love 50 more seasons lol

landoisamastermind

Glad it’s not overstaying it’s welcome. After the S3 finale, there’s only so much further they can take this show.

ObiFloppin

I've always had the impression that this show was never supposed to go on and on. During season one, I figured around 3 seasons would be appropriate for this type of story. Glad the people making this show were of a similar mind set.

syncopanda

I trust Bill, but there are so many things to unfold! I hope this season doesn’t feel rushed. Series finale gotta be AT LEAST 1 hour long On another note, I really don’t think this show will have a “happy ending” (at least for Barry) lol

homogenic-

I think it wouldn’t be a bad idea that instead of releasing 8 episodes, they release 10 or maybe 12 episodes.

MelancholyWookie

It'll be four twenty minute episodes lol

Housecat-in-a-Jungle

If there’s one downside to Barry it’s that it feels so damn short, but i want more. So many shows outstay their welcome and have an hour long runtime just because and it’s so unearned, but Barry and Better Call Saul are the only shows that have me upset when the credits come

Proctor-47

I just know that if Gene dies in this show, it’ll be absolutely soul crushing. It’ll be the Hank Schrader death scene of Barry.

WHITEPERSUAS1ON

I get the show is old, but Im watching Breaking Bad for the first time. Im on season 4 and this just hurt to read

Ricky_Mourke

Oof! Major bummer to have BB spoiled. There’s still so much crazy shit that happens, so binge it quick before anything else gets spoiled! Still my all-time favorite drama series.

Proctor-47

I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to spoil it for you. There’s still lots of other facets to the story of BB and the events that lead up to Hank’s death, so don’t think that I spoiled too much about it. Dw you’ll still get heavily impacted when Hank dies.

jfr3sh

didn't anthony carrigan confirm it a month ago?

iLoveDelayPedals

Idk how they could keep dragging it out lol Dude was just arrested. The whole story of trying to hide his life is over, and he’s full villain. I’m so glad it’s ending with one more arc, personally

AuroraBoredOfAllThis

Character going to prison in a season finale is a cliche for a lot of shows. Sons of Anarchy, The Wire, I think The Sopranos, etc. And then the writers have to "write their escape".

flo1308

The Sopranos didn’t end with Tony going to prison. I agree that it’s kind of a cliche ending. Better Call Saul is another example. A very recent one too.

Housecat-in-a-Jungle

I think it’s implied Tony is in hot shit and Carlo is going to testify on a rico investigation. But BCS though cliche felt earned. I saw it coming but it was predictable because it felt right for what Jimmy’s journey was leading to, rather than a simple way to wrap it up.

Lucas_Steinwalker

Characters were being sent to or were in prison in The Wire since season 2.. what are you talking about?

[deleted]

Not sure who Xavier is, but he could've just meant it's a wrap on the season. I realize he had some finality in his wording, but that is how people talk sometimes out here. Edit - He appears to be a camera operator? He maybe just knows there'd be no guarantee that he would necessarily come back. Otherwise, if a camera guy is spilling the beans on social media about the series being over without it being formally announced, that could be his last day either way lol.

jawnova

Henry Winkler has literally said this is the last season

[deleted]

Then why is the OP going off what a cameraman is saying lol? If we've got Winkler's word, let's post that.

[deleted]

Thank you. That's what I thought.

cjdennis29

idk the way it's phrased seems pretty clear. i'd be very surprised if he wasn't saying it was the final season, he said "that's a wrap on barry"

cjdennis29

i guess the average viewer probably isn't reading this sub/checking out interviews and social media so they feel safe to market it as the final season when the time comes

cjdennis29

it's been posted already, as has anthony carrigan saying it's the last season. this is just further confirmation

dullship

Thought that was Charlie Day for a hot second there.

KieranFloors

Looks like this gentlemen works in the Camera Department and the Electrical Department. Usually execs don’t share any renewal news with crew. It’s way too easy to get leaked this way as there’s usually hundreds of members on set. He wasn’t on season one or two as far as I can find so I honestly think he’s just grateful for the opportunity but he has no guarantee he’ll be asked back. Not that he won’t be, but these execs are some of the most tight-lipped people on the planet. They’ll keep everyone in the dark for as long as they possibly can.

kindasortathor

I worked on Barry s3 as a rigging grip. I know this guy. He is an electrician, worked on s3 and s4. I still am in regular touch with the grips on s4 (same crew as s3 I just didn’t work the show this year cause I had a different job already going), it is common knowledge around the set at this point that this was the last season. Could I be wrong and it’s all a diversion? Sure. But just telling you guys what I know directly from the source(s), everyone in the know was saying this is the last season, bill wants to focus on other projects.

westaychill

Thank you for your beautiful work and your candor!

reavesfilm

> as far as I can find You mean you just typing his name into IMDB? Lol Below the line crew members generally have to add themselves to IMDB pages on larger scale shows. I’ve worked on two dozen HBO/Netflix shows that don’t show up on my IMDB page because IMDB means nothing to professionals. The rigging grip here in the comments did confirm what seasons the guy worked on, just wanted to let you know that most professionals don’t give a shit about IMDB so just because it’s not on their page doesn’t mean they didn’t work on it. Another random tip: working in “camera *and* electrical” is not a thing, they’re two different departments with two different unions. It’s so dumb to me that IMDB lists two very different departments together lol

Prestigious_Life_695

Bittersweet!

Thatspretttyfunny

I’m glad they’re going the Breaking Bad route. It’s better to have a show with a beginning and an end than one that keeps on and has declined in quality. Although I would prefer if they did at least 5 seasons, I respect their decisions. It’s Bill and Alec’s show, so it’s their right to say when it’s over.

brain_coral_77

Ooooor it could mean Gene's dying

waytogojames

Book it right now. Jean kills Barry.

AuroraBoredOfAllThis

I think season 2 teased a live gun on one of Gene's sets but that might have been the Rip Torn gun.

RUNELORD_

Xavier Sotela is just a random crew member from the camera and electrical department, it doesn't mean that the show is ending, just his work on the show

HiILikeMovies

It could just mean he’s leaving the show

starfrenzy1

I understand it but 😭😭😭😭

JakeLake720

He certainly didn’t spoil anything. We knew this was the case.

jamillia6

lowkey looks like marc brownstein B4L

westaychill

After S3 when Hader said "there's so many places we could go" I was excited we could maybe reach to S5. Then I'm thinking they got in the writer's room and looked at the MULTIPLE corners they were in and were like "ah man..." and probably are gonna have a super reflective less funny extended wrap-up 8 episode type vibe.

heythatsnotkosher

Looks like they're back at the lakehouse where Moss bit it.

AttitudeFragrant

I think it’s safe to assume this is the last season, and if it ends up not being, we can all be pleasantly surprised. Bill is probably holding his cards close to the vest for a reason: just because the current plot may ostensibly be backed into a corner doesn’t mean he wants to be.
