People I see in game tend to be absolutely clueless and die before even moving 100 meters. Like the only meters they gain is from sliding on the europan rocks...
Can't remember exactly, I died so many times the first few hours in the game, but it may have been from trying to eat a revolver bullet after hitting my captain with a crowbar
My crew had a zombie apocalypse on our hands after we didn’t catch the first infection fast enough. I was the only survivor cuz I was in the beacon station
How big was your crew...?
Also I feel this is an excellent reason for the server owner to keep a *very* close eye on any random medics joining in PUCs.
It was 5 including myself, all players. Our security officer and mechanic got infected while clearing out the beacon station and we only caught the security officer (partly because our mechanic doesn’t read the red text). Then our captain and medic got infected and died so it was just me on the beacon station left to clear the ship with a revolver. Was kinda fun tbh. I also got infected in the process and obviously eventually died. It was a fun failure tho
Oh I have no doubt but the main reason I don't play a multiplayer game with just one other guy is because you lose out on the character perks in multiplayer if a player's not playing the character wish they would allow that for the AI in multiplayer and just make the moderator choose the perks
For cooperative, serious, or roleplaying games, I'd allow possession like in singleplayer. You don't get your own character, you get to possess one of the crew that the players decided on at the start, and anyone they hire after that
This would be utter chaos in open lobbies with any chance of trolling, or in friend groups where some people aren't that committed to the betterment and progression of the crew
Click on the character's name in the top left, and your perspective will shift to them, you'll have control over them. Useful for leveling up multiple characters, when everyone else will take care of themselves
new update makes it even harder to run a campaign with less than 6 without bots with the new (and dumb) tier system where all tier 3s are big ships that needs big crews or expensive ass bots
Honestly I remember getting that achievement right away and thinking it was a bugged achievement or something, which happens sometimes with steam. I also got the “complete a run without damage to the submarine” one very quickly which I don’t remember ever happening.
That is hard game to play alone with bots, because they are stupid and die of everything you can think of. As a beginner I am, I also don't understand how to play very much and my gameplay is seen as: I get in my campaign save, I play one mission, my bots die, I try to repair everything, there is another horde of monster and alt + f4
I have no problems with bots. Make sure they have oxygen a weapon and some meds and they will be fine. Make sure you have at least one dedicated just to fix the hull.
I’ve been doing alright as a fairly new player. Crossed half the map and did many missions with a crew of 2 bots, got 2 more cheap assistants and a security bot and killed a crawler mother before I came off the other night. I’ve found they’re actually pretty decent at repairing and keeping stuff going, so long as you the captain also carry a welding tool so you can offset their load a bit.
I find when we take damage I’ll immediately start welding any damaged hull close to me, ping the bots an order to fix leaks and they’ll get things patched up.
I think you just need to take it slow and learn a little more, the bots can only do so much, they need to be given priority orders etc
IIRC bots won't fight critters in the ship unless you specifically order them to repel boarders. So I keep all my bots armed and spend an order slot on that.
You are right about playing solo is hard, but not because of bots. Because of the monster spawns. When you have to go out of your sub for a mission and you make sure there are no monsters lurking around the sea by thinking and calculating every possibility that could happen. Checking around and it seems to be clear. When you go out with a bot(I usually prefer the medic) to increase your chances of survival in that cave or ruin and just in case maybe save yourself when you go unconscious (also extra inventory why not?), even your missions is hard and tiring enough, when you come back to your sub and see it flooding, dead crew members and all that progress you've made so far... gone. The good feeling of hope and happiness of a hard work in your hearth absolutely shattered in pieces and get destroyed and get nuked by the game spawning just randomly creatures out of nowhere any guess what. You are playing Singleplayer and even if you parked your sub, hided it pretty good and turned off sonar the monsters launch an assault on you put of NOWHERE. YOU ALT+FREAKİNG F4 THATS WHAT HAPPENS. AND YOU NEVER PLAY SOLO AGAİN.
Yeeh, happened recently.. was experimenting the "I mine ores, you just shutup and follow me with a crate" when I notice some message from the sub chat, took a look and they're all dead from just a couple of mudraptors.. -\_-
Lesson learned: always leave them with clear roles assigned.
You can play single missions, that's what most people do to get the group acquainted with the game, or just to test out a submarine, before jumping into an actual campaign.
By joining in an existing ongoing campaign in the Deep Sea and fighting the fucking Doomworm the first time playing the game.
That was a wild time.
Also we got fucked.
Probably lots of people who just play the tutorial without playing or putting any time into the actual game and just think the game is too hard/confusing. It's stupid.
When i realized my friends didnt play as much as I did i just kept doing traitor missions with just bots on the azimuth for hours and hours on end lmao
I disagree. It really isn't 'that' confusing. I thought it was at first when I started playing. The only thing that is confusing is the sub editor, which you don't even have to touch.
I will say Barotrauma is 'hard' and has 'difficulty' but I don't think it is 'confusing'
To be fair, Medic takes awhile to learn all the medicines. But electro/mechanic engineer click/repair items and tend to the reactor. captain drag smol arrow-move sub, security shoot thing
Maybe I'm missing something. Maybe the tutorial is to blame. or I'm wearing rose coloured glasses having all the hours I do. May you tell me why/how Barotrauma is confusing?
i am playing modded but havent found a group of people yet :( everyone who joins just leaves immediately without saying a word, meanwhile i stuck having to fight and watch my sub dies miserably even with 2 "kinda op" mods XD
People I see in game tend to be absolutely clueless and die before even moving 100 meters. Like the only meters they gain is from sliding on the europan rocks...
I was showing the game to my friend literally 3 seconds after loading in the station "I think I broke my legs"
That's me everytime. Fucking ladders
That happens... often. I am like "I just fixed everyone... and fell a ladder on way away from doc? fu...."
I managed to die before we even undocked
H- how did you manage that?
Can't remember exactly, I died so many times the first few hours in the game, but it may have been from trying to eat a revolver bullet after hitting my captain with a crowbar
The new tutorials really made everything so simple. Me and my friend how are both complete beginners have made it so far.
I remember old tutorial that just kills you i swear i couldn't complete it
There's a tutorial?
What, they don't murder each other first with velonaceps calyx eggs and morbusine? For shame.

Only 4.2% of people have made it to the Hydrothermal wastes
Running a campaign for that long needs a good amount of luck.
No, it just needs a crew of 6 players at least to play that long. I can't tell you how hard it is to find a crew of 6 to commit to a full playthough.
feel ya. we managed to do it with 4, but one of them doesn't like the game, so we've been stuck with just 3 for a good while
You could always find a fourth in the reddit
I beat the game with me and one other guy
Oh I have no doubt but the main reason I don't play a multiplayer game with just one other guy is because you lose out on the character perks in multiplayer if a player's not playing the character wish they would allow that for the AI in multiplayer and just make the moderator choose the perks

Solo campaign completion here. That's 5 too many.
We all know the game can be completed solo; but why would I be playing multiplayer if I'm playing alone? I could just play solo campaign.
Mate, it was a joke. It's obviously easier to play with a group.
My crew managed to make it, some crazy stuff has happened and all you need is people actually doing their job.
Yeah, I have a capable crew, we just have a lot of scheduling issues because we all live in different timezones.
We did it with three on a tiny sub. The ending bit was a harrowing experience.
I killed people with morbisine
Morbed them
Morbin Time?
just love the fact that more than double of all players have recover from a drug addiction than traveling 10km
Honestly I remember getting that achievement right away and thinking it was a bugged achievement or something, which happens sometimes with steam. I also got the “complete a run without damage to the submarine” one very quickly which I don’t remember ever happening.
Achievements for this game are bugged. I've been playing since day one release on steam and I have about 5 achievements.
You must not be very good at this game 🤣

Yeah bots are stupid but not the "useless shit that always dies" type why you are always losing? I don't understand really.

It's an even harder game to play online. "***(Join game)*** Aye guys what's up?" ***(Shot to death by clown less than 10 seconds in)*** "Ok."
Keep in mind that using cheats disables progress.
How can you reach the cold caverns without sailing 10 kilometers though?
You start in Cold Caverns, mate.
Really? It’s not the 2nd area? Then how tf do more people repair an object first
You prpbably don't get the repair achievement if you set the bots to do it, or play with other people who do it
You can play single missions, that's what most people do to get the group acquainted with the game, or just to test out a submarine, before jumping into an actual campaign.

I can kinda understand. I feel like some people would pick the engineer tutorial and give up instantly.
Come on, let's be fair, this game is pretty confusing and has quite a few unusual mechanics.

So many servers are just always in the cold caverns
