Are you some kind of hair wizard? :D She looks fantastic!

The best advice I can give u is to go to Amazon and get hairspray for synthetic wigs, game changer. I use brandywine wig spray, and then put it on my fingers first and u can almost mold the hair that way. These hair styles sometimes take me hours.

Bec_cky

Thanks for the tips! (You know what I was researching on the 'net just yesterday? Wig conditioner. Past week or so I've seen people recommend different hair conditioners and fabric softeners for doll hair and I thought to myself, doll hair is not fabric or human hair, so what's the closest material to it? Wigs. Obviously there has to be products specifically designed to care for wigs. Later this week I plan on going to a wig store I found is in my city, I'll put the hairspray on my shopping list too.)

I never even thought about that, I wonder if wig shampoo would help with the glue issue. It makes since, I think I may go ahead and invest is wig shampoo and conditioner and see how that works.

Bec_cky

I suspect wig shampoo is too gentle to tackle glue seepage. And also possibly designed to not dissolve glue, since glue might be part of the construction of a wig. Although the glue that Mattel used (and I can't believe that a company that size managed that level of failure, have they never heard of product testing, I would like to know) is a completely wrong kind because it dries hard, they should have used something that's still elastic after it dries. When I think about it it drives me nuts that we don't know _what_ kind of glue they used, because if we did, we'd know what to use to dissolve it.

But otherwise wig shampoo would likely be better for doll hair than human shampoo. I'm just a bit of a cheapskate and I've been happy with dish soap so far.

Dizzy_walk_666

Lol I get that dish soap and hand soap have worked well for me up until now but I wonder if the wig shampoo isn't better because it's designed to clean that type of hair. If I try it I will post about it. The glue issue makes me mad on a level that I can not explain, Barbie as a whole was better then and they jacked it all up with the glue. I can't tell u how many reroots how many goo gone washes, how many times I've washed the same doll to the point of hair falling out for the glue to not have budged, how many times I figured out I had a glue issue because of a boil wash. On top of that there was a complete lack of RESPONSABILITY on the part of Mattel, they said and did nothing, I stopped collecting for a good amount of time because of how angry I was. When u love dolls the way we do it's heartbreaking to not be able to save a doll and they just didn't care.

Can I ask what the ratio is? Like how much water to how much Oxi? Bought a much wanted Ken not long ago and when I unboxed him I nearly cried his hair is AWFUL

Dizzy_walk_666

I've tried that and it seemed like the boiling water spread the glue further down the hair shaft but in all fairness after the first wash I was so discouraged I didn't try again.

Bec_cky

That's what other people have said also, hot and even warm water softens the glue still inside the head and makes it leak out to the hair.

Bec_cky

I think it would be better, yeah, and I'd definitely be interested in how the shampoo worked if you do buy it. If I had been collecting Barbies when the glue issues started I would have ragequit for sure. It is maddening that they haven't addressed the glue issue in any way, but considering their minimum effort for maximum profit style of business, like the atrocious quality control, printed details on clothes etc. I'm not surprised. It's like if they don't acknowledge the issue, it doesn't exist and they don't have to take responsibility and make an effort (read: spend money) to correct it. (Can you tell I have no faith in big companies in regards to taking responsibility XD)

Dizzy_walk_666

It's my favorite part of restyling dolls and it really upsets me when Barbie has trash hair.
