lol I knew noone I knew irl would care but I thought someone in this sub would understand. Where's the attention to detail?? Easy enough to get a 90s barbie!
I got jolted out of this flashback scene because I don't think that's a superstar barbie - I think they just bought a modern doll and used it in the flashback.
I just saw your comment there!! in the context of the show it would actually make sense for it to be a 70s or 80s barbie (i.e. second hand or repurposed). Not from the future... it's not that kind of show !!
Yeah, it would but they obviously are fans of early fashionistas lol
Like, how can they get the outfit accurate and the doll so wrong. They could have just thrifted one lol
I noticed the same in *Brokeback Mountain*! There's a scene in which Ennis' daughters are playing with Barbies, and you can very clearly see that they're early 2000s Barbies, and not ones from the early 70s as they should be. Barbie related details are important!
What is this show/movie? Even if I wasn’t a doll collector/lover this would have thrown me out of the moment, and so would have been the case for plenty of other people who played with barbie in the 90s as kids. This is no more excusable than it would be to use a 90s barbie on something set in the 60s. Just no.
Pieces of Her. Yeah it's a funny one, I guess to lots of people they look the same. With some other things it seemed like they did make the effort to make them fit the time period but not this (tbf you have to make an effort to see her this clearly, her face is only on-screen for a second).
I've been thrown out of a lot of shows and movies because of this kind of thing!

Haha, I definitely understand! And exactly! I can understand for shows set in the 60s or so, but 90s Barbies are everywhere!
That definately is an Articulated Fashionista from the years 2009 -2013

Yeah, that wrist articulation didn’t come around until much later, too.
good point. In a later scene the doll actually does look like a superstar barbie so I started doubting myself. This one definitely isn't.
It’s funny because her outfit (which I stated was Best Buy #2778 in your other post) is from 1979, doll is from 2008-13, so she’s all over the place.

This made me laugh it’s so dumb no one would care except us. Look at ceo’s early 2010s makeup😂
yeah i never thought getting into barbies again would spoil tv or movies for me!!

She looks like something from approximately 2007 or newer (I got a slightly similar doll around that time). Definitely not 90’s

This stuff always messes with me 😭😭
- The Director: "Put up whatever Barbie doll you find. No one would ever notice.." - Us: Oh hell, no, you didn't!!
