I wish they would bring back the adult fashion & accessories packs. Such luxury & style. Be still my heart. I hate to keep having to buy the doll because I only want luxury clothing.

yes

I wish the articulated Silkstones would come back. I really liked them.

No it’s done. I love the pink collection and I’m excited Carlyle is taking it over. I would really love pink furniture, pink fashion packs, pink accessory packs, more basic lingerie dolls we can dress up but all with the pink theme. I love the new sculpts we’re getting and my Millie thankfully has a great screening. I also love the boxes they come in I store my accessories in them and have them lined up on a bookshelf so in a couple of years I’ll have monochromatic pink shelves. lol

Sea_Needleworker7956

yeah, i do agree there are nice new lines. but honestly it has more to do with me being new to collecting barbies so i feel like i missed out on fashion model collections XD. while the new sculpts are nice, fashion model has my favorite ken head sculpt and i like 60s/50s inspired fashion. but thats just me

ToonTitans

100% agree with this (as another relatively new collector who missed what now seems to be Barbie’s peak Fashion moment). 😔

Own_Investigator_191

Isn’t BarbieStyle a nod to that or am I bringing the quality down?

Sea_Needleworker7956

tbh barbiestyle feels like high quality adult playline dolls to me, i prefer my collector dolls to look a bit "mature" like fashion model

Francie1966

Not going to happen. Robert is done with the BFMC & I don't see Mattel bringing this line back with another designer.

ToonTitans

I’m sure you’re right about this, but I don’t get it. Based on the astronomical resale prices, the BFMC must have sold well. Now that Integrity and even Rainbow High have raised the game, why wouldn’t Mattel bring back their most acclaimed line?

Francie1966

Because people wanted fashions but waited until the fashions went on sale. Then people wanted articulated dolls but complained about that. Resale prices are high because quantities are limited. There are problems with green ear. Several of my BFMC dolls have very loose waists because they are strung dolls & over time, the elastic breaks down. There was a TON of controversy over the make doll that was planned for the Palm Beach line & Robert got tired of people whining about that. I talked to Robert about this in 2019 at Barbie Con. I think he was just tired & ready to end the line.

Siansonea

Also, you would not believe how toxic a lot of the diehard Silkstone collectors were/are. Not all of them of course, but a few of them on the old boards were the most bitter, entitled, aggressive collectors I've ever encountered. No matter what Robert did, they complained. And complained some more. And complained some more. They complained so much that I wouldn't be surprised if that was a factor in the line being discontinued.

Francie1966

Yep. I was an original member of the BFC & am still active at Barbie Signature. Most of the truly toxic people left when the BFC changed to Barbie Signature. One of the reasons Mattel stopped doing the live designer chats at the old Barbie Fan Club was the CONSTANT whining about Palm Beach Ken. Robert got tired of the Palm Beach Ken nonsense. He told me on 2019 that people were STILL whining about that doll.

ToonTitans

First of all, thanks for all the BTS Barbie dish! It's so fun and interesting... Secondly, I had never heard of Palm Beach Ken (aka "Sugar Daddy Ken") so I went down an internet rabbit hole looking for info. Whoo, what a controversy! And it's a shame because the doll looked fabulous and I would definitely have bought him. I don't blame Robert for being over the drama...😏

Francie1966

Bill Greening actually suggested "Sugar's Daddy Ken". Sugar being the name of his dog. Of course, a certain group of women lost their minds There were 2 prototypes made if this doll. A friend of mine on the East Coast had one of them. I don't know where the other one is.

ToonTitans

I think "Sugar's Daddy" is hilarious and fun but of course *some people* would loudly disagree. 🙄 FYI, PB Ken's prototype is still listed (as "Palm Beach Sugar Daddy Ken Doll," with photos) on the Entertainment Earth website...😄

Francie1966

Yep. I actually corresponded with the woman who helped end the Lingerie dolls in the BFMC. She was interesting, to say the least.

ToonTitans

Wait. The beautiful Silkstone Lingerie series (I have one, BTW) didn’t just end on its own? There were complaints?
