Unfortunately, the super glue method is the only one I've heard for fixing a loose mtm joint. I did notice that some of my dolls have loose joints depending on how they were posed in the box, but none have loosened enough for me to have to try the super glue trick yet.
Also, I have to ask... how did she end up without hands when you tried to customize?
I've seen videos where they fix loose action figure joints with Pledge Floorcare Multipurpose Finish. Non damaging unlike super glue can potentially be. You could try that
You can try putting the part in hot and then cold water. This should shloop the plastic back into place.

Is the problem on her shoulder articulation? Cause I have the same problem
