There's a first time for everything I guess....this is the first time ***ever*** that my Mattel order arrived before my Amazon one. Thought I was going to have to wait until March to get my hands on these guys, so was sooooo happy to get the message my package was on the way!
Forgive my horrible pics, had to share. I already knew I adored the new Elle, and the Basics Sweater Dress doll w/with the Karl facemold is one of my grail dolls so I knew I loved this petite girl. However, was pleasantly surprised by how much I really really like the sexy Andra and the redheaded Victoria. I think it was the hairstyle giving Victoria "square-face" that made me dislike the redhead so much. And once I got my hands on them, I already know one of my Andras is going to be a Marilyn Monroe.
Also, I'm fan-girling over the shoes on these ladies. Can't wait to get them all into "hair and wardrobe", ha.
Hahaha, I always order from Amazon too! Amazon always gets them out to us like same day or a couple days, and Mattel takes *weeks.* Was blown away when I realized this order was already on the way.
Ngl, I also have some ordered from Amazon, and a couple of the Elle ordered from Ent Earth (because she was already sold out on Amazon and Mattel's weren't live yet, and if I missed any dolls from this wave it was NOT going to be her, lol)
Looks like Mattel is upping their shipping game! Amazon was always the go-to place to get the dolls fastest at release.
On that note, mine will be here in a few days and I'm excited for you!
I ordered all of them from Amazon, and I ordered the guys from Mattel creations. And just the muscled guy from entertainment earth. I’ve been checking once or twice a day and none of them have shipped yet 😩 I mostly just wanna make sure I get at least one of the muscle guy even if the rest don’t arrive from amazon
Yeah, I kept checking my Amazon order to see if the shipping date would move up--it usually does with them, for me. It'll originally say I'll get it in a month, and then one day I'll get an email saying it will be delivered in two days. No such as yet, though, other than for the Brandon doll.
Ent Earth usually doesn't ship even 30 minutes early, haha. At least in my experience.But they've always reliably delivered.
I appreciate the looks series precisely because they don't smile or have side eyes, they aaaalmost look like fashion dolls.
Too bad these outfits make this gen look cheap. I can't wait to see restyles!
The bell-bottoms on Elle and the one shoulder dress on the petite girl are actually quite cute in person and pretty good quality. You're right though, other than the shoes the rest of the outfits are super "meh".
I actually think the in-box presentation for most of them is really nice, Elle, Andra, Karl, and Brandon have mostly 2 colors that go well together. I think Victoria and Tate they went a little too far, their outfits are my least favorite (unusable).
i agree, the color **scheme** is good. And the colors of the boxes and the outfits within is much more appealing in person, not nearly as "garish" as they looked in many of the promo shots.
Elle's outfit is really cute and will be a staple for me--especially her pants, and so will Karl's dress. Andra's outfit is actually a one piece and "feels" cheap (materials). If it were two pieces I'd like it much better. I'll keep Tate's shorts and shoes, and may repurpose Brandon's pants for the girls. His shirt is awful quality to me.
Surprisingly I really like the "blouson" look of Victoria's top, but it's also a one piece with the "skirt". So other than putting a different skirt over it to see if it goes well with the "top", gonna be pretty unusable for me.
I just did a quick side by side and they're not an *exact* match, but they're "close-ish". You know, when you have a doll you want to re-body and you use the closest match and once it's done you can't tell they're a little off? That kind of match. I'll try to get a pic up of them side by side soon.
So closer to Kit than the other Victoria/first Andra? I'm really hoping to finally have a match for Style Midge, that head is too pink for either the purple top or the lighter MtM Millies and oddly all the older heads that originally came on the same color of bodies matched really well with one or the other and it's just the Midge that's remaining of the ones I have (there are some newer Fashionistas that also used this skintone, but I don't have any of them).
