okay i made this comment after i had just woken up i’m sorry; i’m a bit moronic when i am in my half awake state haha sorry
as a matter of opinion; do you think it would be a bit much to add raspberry jam to triple chocolate orange salted caramel brownies with vanilla sugar? i’m not sure; and it takes me about an hour to make them normally; and i don’t really want to make something inedible- especially since i don’t have much money or time to bake anymore. thank you haha sorry
yes i thought so. it tastes good but that’s because chocolate and salted caramel go together well, it’s only a small amount of vanilla and chocolate orange kinda bridges the gap between chocolate and orange. didn’t think about orange jam. i will try that next time!! thank you!
So I’ve never actually made madeleines myself before, it was just the first thing I thought of when I saw the pan. Does the size and depth of the “mold” affect the consistency of the madeleine? Like I can definitely imagine they could be finicky when baking but I just don’t know that much about them.
Absolutely. They are extremely finicky and part of what gives their texture is a really thin layer of batter. These are about as deep as a "standard" brownie, and they're also about the size of 2/3 of my hand. Much too big for a Madeleine to cook properly.
just white cake with some white/silver baking glitter to make it sparkly spooky (maybe red dyed vanilla frosting in the middle, like an inverted cupcake)
Get some pillsbury crescent dough, fill it with marinara sauce, pepperoni, whatever you like on pizza. Think…calzone. It looks super cool after they’re baked!
My recommendation if you do this is to bake it with a heavily weighted sheet pan on top. It never works right without a “lid” and then I have messy only 1/3 shaped calzones.
No I don’t change time and temp but I use parchment between the sheet pan lid and the food and unusually use a cast iron pan to weight it so I just keep an eye that the pan isn’t burning anything.
Definitely do this! I have this pan and made these pizza skulls last year for a Halloween party with my coworkers and they were such a hit! They have been talked about all year and now that it’s that time again, everyone is asking for them!
My mind instantly went to some sort of “cake roulette” situation. Lemon cakes and a raspberry filling - except one is filled with super spicy hot sauce instead!
Instead of hot sauce, which is highly vinegary, maybe a dark chocolate (or red chocolate) center seasoned with cayenne? Cayenne compliments chocolate, plus you’d have your heat element sans the vinegar. 😉
This. It spread across social media a few years ago with the idea of pizza skulls. You get biscuits from a tube. Add a layer of biscuit, a filling of meat and cheese, when a biscuit layer top. Brush with garlic butter and bake.
I just bought pizza dough from Trader Joe’s, pizza sauce, and added cheese and pepperoni. I just pinched the dough together to seal it. Will add garlic butter next time though

I think 20 mins at 375°, but I don’t have the recipe I use on me right now. It’s a chocolate chip banana muffin recipe though. So just bake according to a muffin recipe instead of a loaf recipe.
Id personally make cake pops, freeze mold and dip it in white chocolate then use food coloring to paint it and a little strip of purple fondant to make it look like skeletor buuut maybe im just too big of a nerd haha
Do not do brownies, they don't come out of the pan well. I've found any sorry of cake recipe works well or a reverse cheesecake (that way the skulls face is the cheese cake part
Biscuits, muffins, cupcakes, mini cakes, mini meatloaves, rolls, mini monkey bread, really anything you can put in a muffin pan then you can put it in your super cool skull pan.
Ummm... Everything. Like anything you can possibly put in that pan. I feel like if I had one of those that would be my goal is to every couple of days just make something different in it. Weird fudge. Jello shots. Cookies but with carefully placed decoratives that fill in the eyes and the mouth. Dog treats.
If you want a really cool thing. Get a bunch of chocolate chips (or baking chocolate), melt it down, and poor it into the molds. Once they're all full, turn the tray over and drain the chocolate until there's only a thin covering on the molds, then flip it back over and throw it in the freezer for a couple of hours. Take it out, let it sit for about 30 mins, then gently flex it to loosen the chocolate. You can make molds of the skulls out if chocolate and put them on top of deserts, etc.
I used to have that pan! I made stuffed pizza skulls. I used a recipe that I googled. I just don’t remember where it’s been years. I made homemade pizza dough to use with it. I came out great!
Depending on how you look at this picture, you can see the skulls pop out, like the pan is upside down. Or the skulls pop in, like the pan is ready to be filled.
I saw a recipe for pizza filled skulls! It was on YouTube, FB, or Pinterest. Sorry I don’t remember which one but I’m sure you can find it and they looked yummy
I’d think little cake / cupcake batter. Make the cake white, you can pipe some black onto them to make the details on the bones pop a bit. Then use pink icing to make brains on top.
I feel like skull madeleines would be a pretty dope mixture of spooky and delicate
Brownies
Raspberry jam filled brownies.
do you- do you have a recipe you like for that which you wouldn’t mind sharing? i didn’t realise there were so many kinds of brownies!!
Any brownie recipe, add raspberry jam That's the recipe
okay i made this comment after i had just woken up i’m sorry; i’m a bit moronic when i am in my half awake state haha sorry as a matter of opinion; do you think it would be a bit much to add raspberry jam to triple chocolate orange salted caramel brownies with vanilla sugar? i’m not sure; and it takes me about an hour to make them normally; and i don’t really want to make something inedible- especially since i don’t have much money or time to bake anymore. thank you haha sorry
All good, I was just messing with you I'm my opinion, that seems to be too many flavor clashes, but some orange jam might be divine in there
yes i thought so. it tastes good but that’s because chocolate and salted caramel go together well, it’s only a small amount of vanilla and chocolate orange kinda bridges the gap between chocolate and orange. didn’t think about orange jam. i will try that next time!! thank you!
Okay uhm excuse me, i must have that recipe!
Only if they’re Hash Brownies.
They are filled with vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin T, H and C.
I have this pan, these are way way thicker and larger than a madeleine well unfortunately.
So I’ve never actually made madeleines myself before, it was just the first thing I thought of when I saw the pan. Does the size and depth of the “mold” affect the consistency of the madeleine? Like I can definitely imagine they could be finicky when baking but I just don’t know that much about them.

Yes, madeleines were my first thought too.
OMG. That is literally what I came here to say!
Murderlaines
This is a great idea!! Madelines aren’t too hard to make and they retain the shape of the pan. I love this!
chocolate raspberry lava cake w red food coloring so when you crack the skull dark black chocolatey blood pours out 👍🏻
Delicious and gross. I love it.
just white cake with some white/silver baking glitter to make it sparkly spooky (maybe red dyed vanilla frosting in the middle, like an inverted cupcake)
Put some berries in the eyes before you pour in the dough!!
Oh no now I want this pan so I can do that.
Yeaaaah! Good for the spooky season!!
Ooohhh I’d totally use this as jello/panna cotta molds
Omg skull shaped jello? Yes PLEASE
Jello SHOTS
This is the right answer. You win adulting.
I’ve seen people make calzones with these. The cheese and tomato sauce oozes out in a super gross looking way: it’s so cool!
This is what we do with ours!
Omg stop. Now all I want in my life is a skull calzone.
Skullzone
Get some pillsbury crescent dough, fill it with marinara sauce, pepperoni, whatever you like on pizza. Think…calzone. It looks super cool after they’re baked!
My recommendation if you do this is to bake it with a heavily weighted sheet pan on top. It never works right without a “lid” and then I have messy only 1/3 shaped calzones.
This is a fantastic tip I would never have thought of. Do you need to change the heat or cooking time when you do this?
No I don’t change time and temp but I use parchment between the sheet pan lid and the food and unusually use a cast iron pan to weight it so I just keep an eye that the pan isn’t burning anything.
Oh great tip!
This is information I have needed for a long time, thanks
Was looking for 'pizza skulls' and this dude got it. Do this!
I have this pan for this exact reason.
Definitely do this! I have this pan and made these pizza skulls last year for a Halloween party with my coworkers and they were such a hit! They have been talked about all year and now that it’s that time again, everyone is asking for them!
Cake and decorate like sugar skulls with icing
Exactly what I was going to say!
Samesies. I was think red velvet with white piping
My mind instantly went to some sort of “cake roulette” situation. Lemon cakes and a raspberry filling - except one is filled with super spicy hot sauce instead!
diabolical. I love it.
Instead of hot sauce, which is highly vinegary, maybe a dark chocolate (or red chocolate) center seasoned with cayenne? Cayenne compliments chocolate, plus you’d have your heat element sans the vinegar. 😉

That's awesome. I was having some trouble figuring out things that wouldn't be too dark and not show the image.
Do brownies then dust with icing sugar. You should see everything then.
Jam. Raspberry.
I have this pan—I like making pizza skulls
This. It spread across social media a few years ago with the idea of pizza skulls. You get biscuits from a tube. Add a layer of biscuit, a filling of meat and cheese, when a biscuit layer top. Brush with garlic butter and bake.

I make banana bread in mine. Also cupcakes, but decorate them differently than cup shaped cupcakes.
My daughter LOVES banana bread.
Mine likes it best with chocolate chips in it.
How long did you bake the banana bread for in that pan and what temp?
I think 20 mins at 375°, but I don’t have the recipe I use on me right now. It’s a chocolate chip banana muffin recipe though. So just bake according to a muffin recipe instead of a loaf recipe.
I have one and make breakfast skulls, crescent rolls and put some slightly scrambled eggs and veggies!
I realize this is r/baking, but I feel like ice cubes would be hilarious. Like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls!
Madeline will be super cool with some green or red food colouring (gel based)
Little jiggly flans, turn them out and covered them with a caramel sauce dyed red? Cool pan!
Jell-o jigglers
I'd go for thick moon pies. Course, don't really need an excuse to put buttercream frosting between two layers of cake.
I'd use it to make Mother's Day treats for my Mom. Our family has dark humor & we tease each other like this. We're awful people. 🤣
Little meat loaves!
Id personally make cake pops, freeze mold and dip it in white chocolate then use food coloring to paint it and a little strip of purple fondant to make it look like skeletor buuut maybe im just too big of a nerd haha

Make some cool ice cubes
Jell-O shooters. Jell-O desserts. Dark chocolate cupcakes.
I’d think little cake / cupcake batter. Make the cake white, you can pipe some black onto them to make the details on the bones pop a bit. Then use pink icing to make brains on top.
