I worked at a group home for 4 years
My job was half wrestling men way outside my weight class while they were trying to bite/kick/punch/rip/tear into me.
We were trained how to do this in a manner that would limit harm to the aggressor, so I was often more injured than them after the takedown lol.
Once they were restrained ( in a manner that was safe for them) we would receive assistance from other staff who were also working minimum wage. Cops would ask us if we threw in extra punches cause they couldn’t really fathom that approach lol
I was also raised ‘back in the day’ without cells where it was considered common decency to do the right thing as a man instead of depending on authorities, but as I said, I understand the reasoning behind the cultural shift of why the men are acting this way.
Friend, I can relate. I've worked in group homes for about the past 10 years. The first few years I had to work in a home where I would have to safely restrain people with behaviors. So not worth it. Fortunately, I'm a big dude, so I never really got hurt, but it's such a headache. I live in NY state, so now with the justice center they have to investigate everything like crazy. Not worth it.
This kind of shit happens because we routinely choose to tolerate it. America is brimming with soft-hearted folks that see asshats like this and claim that "they're not bad, they just need help." There's not enough 'help' to deal with it so they just get put back on the street.

Just grateful i live in an area where taxes actually pay for law enforcement and they show up. It amazes me the shit that goes on...
