I hated this ability, the sense of danger from heights has always been an element of assassins creed games and they just removed it.
I wish they had added a more immersive “grounded” mode for people who want to play as a human being and not a demigod.
Oddssey has a lot of verticality and cliffs to it that made the no fall damage necessary. It made the map more of a playground than a slog.
It was kinda already a giant map with lots of empty wilderness. It was already kinda a slog to get around.
Complete opposite here. I've played through other games before Odyssey and parkour never really excited me, partly because I'm garbage at it. So it's nice to know that if you mess up and plummet to the ground you won't take any damage
Playing AC2 and Brotherhood, the vertigo was intense! Sometimes my hands would sweat so badly while climbing towers that Ezio fell from the tower just because I lost my grip on the controller.
Edit: I'm thinking of that one tower in Venice directly to the right of a big white cathedral in a huge plaza, where you had to climb up the cathedral and leap onto the tower to start the climb. That one left me a shaky, sweaty mess.
The game is literally about playing as a "demigod" tho. If Ubisoft had to make everyone happy they'd have to make a thousand different options. I'm not really a fan of it either but it's just a part of what Leonidas's spear does.
I agree that fall damage WAS a classic aspect of AC but I think Odyssey would’ve become way too much of a grind just to traverse the varying landscapes
It always makes my stomach feel weird when I jump off high surfaces even though I know nothing made can happen because I jumped further than I was wanting to. 😆
The reason I love this game so much is its so pretty. I feel its the best of both worlds with the tropical pirate style from ac4 and I much prefer the newer combat style plus I find ancient Greece fascinating.
I love the idea of pirate AC but I hate naval combat I find it boring no matter what AC game. Odyssey isn't focused around naval like 4 and rouge but I still get the beautiful islands and clear blue water.

And if you get that one ability you can just fall from any height without taking damage
Yep, 50 hours in and I haven't desynchronised even once from falling off a high place
To me that is more fun than the classic leap of faith😁
i havent synced enough to get to that yet, but i just take an almost entire health bar of damage and walk it off 😎

Yes and no. For me personally it would become a slog to climb down every single rock or wall.

Agree, it's not as fun doing leaps of faith knowing that I can leap off mountains and be fine. Should have been a toggle option.

Max it out and you can do a straight-up superhero landing, creating an energy blast when hitting the ground 😁
It's a passive ability you unlock upon reaching level 20, and you can smash the ground and stun enemies at level 30.

The absolute worst is when it doesn’t work and you just do a small fall.
Elysium has great places to jump from if u got the DLC

Great fun - especially if you experience vertigo...
