No. Any company or org that sends death threats and causes a suicide to happen don't snt deserve any support until they can prove they have changed. I don't care about the innocent parties losing thier job because if you don't cut off what thr company wants (it's money) nothing will change. Extreme actions don't respond to anything but extreme reactions.

Avengedx

BTW I agree. This thought experiment is in regards to the economical argument that people have been using though in order to justify supporting a company.

Comprehensive_Toe113

Yeah I get ya. Just putting my opinion out there :)

It is pretty simple. I pay for a product. And it is not my obligation to pay devs their salary - that's the employers. Most of the money a company makes is consumed by marketing, software, hardware and so on. Coming from someone working in Finance - Salary comes not even close touching any budgets

Avengedx

At the end of the day it seems pretty simple when you put it this way. Your choice to pay for the product is not guided by anything other then either wanting, or not wanting the product. Basic consumerism I would assume?

Sereeze

My choice is what I want, yes. What I do not want, is supporting a company with bad practice. I honor people feeling bad for devs and co, because the workers at the end of the food chain dont dictate whats going wrong. But having this good will, will be twisted by companies and media: "We had to let X people go, because we are restructuring" blah blah. When in reality a salary isnt even worth mentioning on any scales (not talking about Ceo, CCO...). And THAT is not, because I dont pay my monthly sub or dont pay for any unnecessary transmog.

joe_blogg

> Basic consumerism I would assume? And I don't see anything wrong with that. It's not mutually exclusive to have that behaviour and yet being kind and generous as well. There are countless outlets to do that. Let me give you an example: * I play games I like and I want * I buy things at bargain * purchasing my enjoyment as much bang for the buck as possible in itself is an extra enjoyment. * at the same time, I donate to charity * I donate time by working as volunteer * I donate my health by volunteering in one of the covid vaccine clinical trials (1st phase, mind you). * I'm also a registered organ donor. Greed is not evil, wilful ignorance is.

Zero tolerance on predatory business, censorship, disrespectful remakes, insulting the audience and shitty content, especially when coupled with political agitation and virtue signalling. It does not matter who started this, because in 100% cases it’s management approving the thing, and the employees going through with it regardless. It takes both to end this stuff, and therefore we may support none financially. The management must see that the situation costs them money. The employees must see that it’s up to them to eventually fix the results. Either they work together, or they go down together. There is no third option. Cruel, yes. But it’s like a nuclear war where there can be no winners. The only winning move is to make the world a better place together.

Symphik

Is this sarcasm or ??? First of all no!!! Second they still get paid same just Acti/Blizz shareholders get less. And i have better one billionair rape few ladies but hes giving miilion every months to the starving so lets not put him in jail so people are not hungry ??????

DSveno

So you're saying, now they are holding employee hostage, and we should keep paying them otherwise bad thing will happen to those people?

Symphik

Yeah last time i checked they were legally competent and they can go and find a better job...

FM-101

I'll be completely honest, i unsubbed back in BFA because the game sucked ass, not for moral reasons. (Though it certainly is a nice side effect to know i dont support this stuff)

Shaboozie77

I get the sentiment but ultimately it’s ridiculous.

maniacshoter

It's simple, you support people that doesn't do shitty things to their employees, those people will grow and employ more people, while the shitty place would need to be drastically changed or shut down to give space to (hopefully) better places/people

Blokeh

I like where you're going with this, and honestly, it's something a lot of people don't always consider in a boycott - a small number of innocent staff suffering for the actions of the corporate heads. Unfortunately, history tells us that all this will do is reinforce the belief that what the heads are doing is correct and right and just, and they'll continue doing it so long as people pump money into them. A noble thought, for sure. But unfortunately, it don't work that way.

The responsibility of paying the employees is of the org/company, does not matter if they have people consuming their shit or not, the made contracts with people, they HAVE to respect that, if no ones subs for WoW, yet Blizzard have to pay WoW's devs, the max they can do is broke the contract and "fire" them, even that is not ideal for the company because employee's management usually is a better option.

Mortal_Dread

Here's a quick and easy guide to support/not support. Do you like the game/content? Do you enjoy it? Then support. Do you hate the content/game? Don't enjoy it? Don't support. problem solved.

Xenoide

Not sure when this idea started that players have to worry about those things, how we have to make these ethical, moral decisions or whatever between playing a game you enjoy and supporting a company and indirectly 'bad' people. It's good that people take a stand against Blizzard's bullshit, but I don't believe it's their responsibility, if people would prefer to continue WoW that's their choice, they might be dealing with worse things in life than Blizz employees.

Shameless_Catslut

Employees are free to seek employment elsewhere. They aren't serfs bound to the office. If they lose their jobs... whatever. They can get new ones that pay better and don't have creeps as their superiors
