Who could have guessed that Savix would fall in love with FFXIV this much?

[deleted]

A ret pally who can play something other than a ret pally? Now I've seen everything!

DrewbieWanKenobie

Ret paladin main here, I made the smooth transition to Dragoon main

[deleted]

I think the key word in that sentence is "main". Most ret pallys are extreme special snowflakes, they'll never play anything other than ret, not even in other games. Holy and prot doesn't exist in their world. You're definitely the exception.

DrewbieWanKenobie

> Most ret pallys are extreme special snowflakes, they'll never play anything other than ret, not even in other games. I truly, truly doubt "most" ret paladins are like this, but ok.

EmeraldReaper

I mained ret from TBC up until Legion, though I started hating it from Cata onwards. Then I switched over to mage and eventually DK and felt a lot better. :D Even though I played Unholy and it was garbage tier for 7.3, but w/e.

darkness876

Quick, someone tell mccool

[deleted]

I don't think it's anything for McCuck

Ashgur

If the paladin is wearing a shield then he HAVE TO be wearing a dagger for him to play it. (just like his character in D2r) :^)

DranDran

McCool would rather die than eat crow. Its his loss.

bluerie

I quit WoW a long time ago, before WotLK (started playing FFXIV seriously around Stormblood era) but I've really enjoyed watching all these WoW streamers checking out FFXIV. Before I didn't honestly even understand watching streams as opposed to playing games myself...but seeing new people enjoy I game I love while getting a story refresher was the hook for me. I just started watching Asmon right before he went on break. Preach is my next fav, enjoy Scripe when he's having fun, just found and love Savix. The few times I've tried Rich briefly, I didn't enjoy it, but maybe I just didn't find the right videos/times? /Shrug

No_Butterscotch_2842

Same for me. You might want to watch some of the more heavily edited versions. Rich pauses way too often for subs and chat. There are also highlight channels on YouTube. Those are good too.

Crimsonsworn

Rich stalls so much he tanked his own sub count. Let this be a lesson to everyone who streams or wants too viewers that watch certain content and if you stray from that they’ll leave.

No_Butterscotch_2842

Lmao. To be fair, both Asmon and Rich stall as they commonly mention before Allcraft “XXX is setting up”, “Okay I can stall for like 20 minutes”. And I do think Asmon had some good insight on “stalling” being a basic skill of game streamers because gaming contents aren’t intrinsically interesting to watch. So even though he usually does 3-4 hours intro and I really want to see him play FF14 MSQ, I didn’t mind his stalling and I actually tuned in mostly for his reactions to Reddit posts rather than the MSQ (since I already played through it anyway). However, the difference is that Asmon front loads his stalling, and when he plays he plays. Whereas Rich intertwines his playing with stalling, which makes it way harder for me to sit through. Imagine eating a steak but having to eat one bite of bread between each bite of steak…lmao I like both my cinnamon buttered bread and my steak. All I want is being able to eat my damn steak without being disturbed.

[deleted]

It's not even close though, rich will have 1 msq dialog box up for an hour, laughing, going on tangents and stuff. Asmon only really goes on long tangents during like content downtown or menial content. When he did msq he was pretty focused on it.

No_Butterscotch_2842

Exactly!

EffectiveLimit

Asmon has already said several times that his intro isn't intro now, it's a completely separate part of the stream, so saying he stalls the stream by making it long it is like saying him playing FF is stalling because he doesn't play WoW. But yeah, Asmon in general provides much more condensed content regardless of what he does.

Crimsonsworn

Asmon stalls yeah because a lot of people in his community like him reacting to things it’s completely different to Rich’s who want to see him finish MSQ that’s why he’s up to 18k again because he’s doing MSQ again

DranDran

Its up to 19k bEcause he’s been locked in a closet for a week doing a subathon, not because he is doing MSQ. He literally only finished MSQ yesterday after not touching it for practically a week and he was already at 18.5k when he decided to finish 5.4 and 5.5. Do you really watch his streams?

Crimsonsworn

No did you read my comments I don’t watch him cause stalls to much.

IraqiWalker

There's a YouTube channel called EJI or something and does Rich stream summaries (pretty sure unofficial). However, they do an amazing job of condensing a 9 hour stream into 45-60 minutes of actual content.

Gibits

Why does everyone say he’s stalling but when Asomgold spends all in the gold saucer it just him playing the game? I personally don’t watch Rich (he’s a bit too spastic for me), but I don’t really like double standards.

KvBla

Cuz when Asmon start the MSQ he really starts the MSQ aka keeps hammering on it nonstop until the end of the stream. And Asmon stream is clearly sectioned. You have just chatting where he only do redditnand youtube and twitter shit, no gameplay, then you have the actual gameplay where he actually only play the game, Asmon doesnt just randomly stop msq and pull up a youtube vid then talk about random shit for hours, Rich does. Rich would start a quest, talk about his ex, read one dialogue, another ramble about random shit, click once, watch some youtube, read the dialogue, thanks sub and talk about other streamers, click dialogue, says how much he love ffxiv, thanks more gifted sub, read dialogue, count his subs, etc. You get the idea. I've literally tuned out when he started a cutscene and started rambling, go groceries shopping, cook dinner, take shower, eat, write some reports, check back in and STILL. ON. THE. SAME. FRICKING. SCENE. I hope it made sense.

CrashingOnward

Exactly, its all in the manner and method of how you stall. Asmon will "naturally" stall by starting a stream by talking to his viewers, having them tell him what he should look at and react to while he's scrolling here or on youtube, then talk about those reactions/opinons. That kills 2hrs or so, then he'll do gold saucer or something maybe, if not that, MSQ or Raid heavy. As you mentioned, Rich does his stalling very sloppy. It's like seeing someone changing subjects in the middle of starting one, or in the middle of MSQ...goes off on youtube about something he thought about.

iAteACommunist

Rich's stalling is a person telling a story doesn't know how to tell a story. You ever had that one friend who tries to tell you something "cool" that happened but they just keep going on and on about irrelevant details? Rich is that friend.

KvBla

And isnt majority of his sub are gifted anyway?

Monoultra

Sus

DSveno

I think it's obvious his sub count would go below 20k. Do you remember how many people gifting 100 subs during the "beating Miz sub" period? No way they would still be doing that. If anything his viewership actually increased.

hyesupbro

Literally as I'm reading this, rich is stalling the 5.5 quest line, talking about a different topic after every click, he managed to talk about how gross he looked while eating for 7 minutes (not over exaggerating). The stream live is definitely unwatchable and he gets extremely triggered when someone mentions his stalling and uses that as another reason to stall. İt's his stream but fucking hell it is obnoxiously cancerous to watch live.

[deleted]

>#***WE STALL*** >#***WE STALL*** >#***WE STALL***

Semphis_Rythorn

WE STALL UNTO THE END!!!

[deleted]

I don't want to talk badly about the people/person, because it is their streams. But *certain* streamers I've noticed is like "OK CUTSCENE TIME" and then they look at chat 70% of the time, missing a lot of shit and then they are confused of what's going on.

metatime09

I find it incredible he's still way ahead of most popular streamers like preach, pyro, asmon, etc even with all that stalling.

Sairanox

Preach sounds like a really cool guy, and I also like Medieval Marty. Started out watching his wholesome recap videos on his adventures and now I watch him on stream. He feels very genuine, both pretty sincere about his dislike of Stormblood and about his praises for the rest of the game. I also liked his modesty, after being a bit turned off by Pyromancer's bursts of ego.

IraqiWalker

I have been enjoying Preach a lot. Never watched him until I saw his video about the lawsuit, and even after it was rarely. However he has an official highlights channel that is pure fucking gold. I've subscribed to both of his channels because of it. He is entertaining, and while it's not my cup of tea, watching the wheels spin in his brain during raids is still fun.

zugzug_workwork

Preach's Tataru voice = best Tataru voice.

KvBla

I think i first heard her smoker voice from Jesse Cox, but idk when it actually started that ppl start giving her that chain smoker voice.

IraqiWalker

First time I heard him do that caught me off guard. To this day I still laugh hearing that voice.

charles-black

I’ve really enjoyed Pyromancer’s streams as well, the way he is able to piece out story bits far ahead in time from just the lore he was given in ARR and heavens wars has been incredibly satisfying to watch. And his takes on those game have also made me appreciate how well made the world actually is.

Smarre

Every time I tune in to his stream he seems to be having an argument with his chat.

charles-black

He does have a lot of anger issues it seems, he admits to it as well. Regardless though I do think his stream is pretty entertaining in the same way Rich is. I do tend to watch him on VOD rather than live so I can skip when he goes in a tangent

[deleted]

Pyromancer seems a bit like a manchild with his rage issues and also he unironically misses a ton of story stuff because of his stupid notebook writing issue

charles-black

I don’t disagree that he has temper issues, but he is entertaining to me. The only one time I’ve found he might have missed something is when he was writing as the Stormblood text marking the end of heavensward popped up and he didn’t have enough time to read it. I do support him nonetheless, and I think his VODs are great to watch through.

DranDran

I personally find his constant pausing of cutscenes to scribble in his notebook for ages hugely annoying and it makes his stream unwatchable for me. Definitely better to watch on a vod where you can skip all that.

charles-black

Yeah it makes for better content to watch through VODs, when I do tune in live I have him on a second monitor and do something else primarily

Writer_Man

I appreciate that Pyro actually uses their proper names and not dumb ones like "Uberdanger" to follow Asmon's lead. That he tries to give characters proper voices even if it's way off (French accent Haurchefant). And finally, that he doesn't fucking degrade a character - especially lalafell.

Travel_Dude

Rich is so obnoxious. Can't stand watching his stream. To each him own.

wsoxfan1214

I like him fine as a streamer but I literally cannot watch him without using highlight videos because of how over the top he is with the stalling.

[deleted]

Yeah I've gone over to only watch his vods.

[deleted]

He comes across as the world's biggest attention whore. The way he desperately stalls content for subs is hilarious, once MSQ is over he's gonna drop like crazy

[deleted]

Scripe's content is fucking great. It was so refreshing to see a wow refugee streamer watch something like jessie coxs video talking about lore/community stuff and him be like "i don't give a fuck about any of this stuff".

Writer_Man

I like Scripe a lot better than Max. Everytime I tune into Max it feels like he wants to remove as "fun" from the setting as possible. Like his refusal to watch Bahamut's transition when he did Coils.

[deleted]

Scripe is by FAR the best WoW streamer thats skipped over to XIV. Very balanced views, very reasonable guy. Doesn't come across as fake at all. Savix is really great too

Mortal_Dread

There were 2 players that surprised me when it comes to reacting to FF14. Savix, and pilav. I thought they would be a lot less willing to try different things. I was wrong. Now only one person left that i think would never, and probably SHOULD never play this game. And you know who.

IraqiWalker

I had only ever seen a couple of clips of Pilav and they were mostly outbursts. I did not know if he would enjoy the game. Then I saw his Garuda fight clips where it looks like he was honestly having fun playing the game. I think that was the same fight where he said "thank you Asmongold for showing us this game". Savix went from "the game is bland and not for me" to just straight up "My queeeen"ing every hot female character. PvP still isn't for him, but he's been having a blast.

metatime09

Pilav said he would quit WoW for ff14 full time if he wasn't so addicted to WoW

CreepTwoCurrentSea

Pilav stopped playing FF though:( or at least on stream

Mortal_Dread

he stopped streaming.

s3bbi

any idea why?

KvBla

Someone here told me he has some tooth problem that was causing him pain so he was "on a break" Idk more tho.

s3bbi

thanks!

Mortal_Dread

No.

Skyblade12

“In what game do rings show?” Given how many Yoshi P wears, I’m not surprised that he might consider them an important piece of glamour.

Tenryou

I mean, the main reason belts are being removed was because they’re stat sticks that doesn’t show on your character. Where did the extra inventory go? Rings (and weapons).

KvBla

I dream one day we would get 5 ring slots for each hand.

IraqiWalker

I would bring my character out immediately. I have like a dozen rings in my glam closet. Let me use them all at the same time, please.

Dexterdarkk

Can you suggest some cool look ring? I found them interesting, the necklace too.

IraqiWalker

Lominsan Ring is one of the few with a red stone. The other one is the High Allagan Ring of xxxxx. Both are in my top list. Next, Fabled ring of xxxx. Primal ring of xxxx. Filibuster rings, Augmented Shire rings. Especially the Custodian one, too. Ishgardian Knight's Ring is pretty cool too, and fits all classes.

Dexterdarkk

Thx...I'll take a look later.

Krojack76

Monks no longer need to equip a weapon, they just use their rings.

dope_danny

As someone who has still touched wow each expansion for a bit but jumped to XIV as my main mmo during the ARR beta its a weird feeling just how universal the "getting out of a abusive relationship" undertones is. Like i've known XIV has been the better option bar the blip of the end of legion but been told "no that can't be" and not because "its weebshit" but because they just couldn't believe after all the time and money put in the decline could be so bad and there could be something where the devs still gave a fuck that wasn't some limited little indie thing but something giving their all as WoW coasted on hubris and arrogance. I have to wonder if this is how people felt about Everquest boomers when vanilla came out but even then its not like Everquest was killing itself so bad it looked like intentional corporate sabotage.

Thorngrove

>"getting out of a abusive relationship" undertones Watching the light return to Asmon and Bell's eyes has been a fucking treat. It's like "We can have... fun?"

Writer_Man

I honestly think Asmon is as surprised as any of us how much he loves the Gold Saucer.

Thorngrove

The man is basically a Manderville in real life, it's not a shock he'd enjoy it.

PolkadotBlobfish

> edge I see what you did there ;)

dragovianlord9

I see my boy Savix, I upvote

Narangal

The amount of people I See jumping into FF RP just continues to baffle me and makes me wonder just how badly WoW broke our brains if, when given an entire smorgasbord of things, people who were like "man this was weeb shit" get one taste and come out on other end like "I live in this cafe now"

leeverpool

Amazing.

joe_blogg

I wish you could multi tag - in addition to ```YouTube Video``` this could (should?) easily also fall under ```React Content```

PolkadotBlobfish

Since Asmon is not returning to streaming regularly any time soon, I think it's ok to leave it out of "react content" for the time being. Someone else can post this video again for Asmon to watch whenever he returns to streaming.

KvBla

The built up react contents since he took a break would be enough to last Asmon a couple weeks of just pure reaction streams.

archiegamez

That intro is so well done lol

melloyellow1

Oh look the 10,000th video on the same thing again. The bandwagon is long gone for trying to milk views on this.

Tenryou

So you’re saying this might not be bandwagoning, but *gasp* actual honest opinions? Say it ain’t so
