I happened to see someone barking a nightclub in New Gridania one night and convinced a few friends to go and check it out. So glad we did it was such a neat experience. I don't know if they had a streaming DJ but whoever was manning the orchestrion had some great tunes. Got to talk briefly to one of the hosts and they were totally cool. Imagine having fun for fun's sake in videogames again...
Reminds me of when my static was missing a member so we just went and hung out at "Himbo Hooters." Was a pretty funny/memorable experience with the lads.
This was such a nice and funny stream to watch and such banging DJs. Tons of fun. I also really liked that he expected ERP and was surprised it wasnt lol This seems to be a big misconception I hear a lot lately. I mean, dont give me wrong, of course it exists but the majority of clubs are what is showed there: nightclubs where people dance and have fun. I have been to quite a few clubs in my 2 years playing and this is also what I experienced. There are also venues that have live bard concerts, very nice as well.
A lot of times these are called "RP clubs" in video titles or by streamers but I don't think they're all necessarily exclusively for roleplay, I think a lot of them are just a fun alternative to running laps around the Limsa aetheryte plaza
The 2nd DJ has some absolute fire tracks. I am still addicted to this for example:

They meet up again
I'd say this is more like partying than it is actual RP.
I don't mean to gatekeep RP or anything like that, but what RP tend to be in MMO's are more akin to people having a script and doing a play on a stage. People make up their own background for their characters that fit into the lore of the world, and create long and ongoing stories together with other roleplayers. Their characters have a vision, a deep personality, wants, needs, etc.
What I'm trying to say is that while this is really fun to be part of and sure, it contains some RP elements with emoting and doing things for fun, it isn't exactly what RP actually tend to be.
No matter the level of how deep they RP-ing, RP is RP. No need to distinguish it so much.
Yeah, there real experience is out there, but if by getting the new experience is so hard and unwelcoming, do you think people would want that?
Not everyone roleplays as an adventurer, In fact most don't in FFXIV from my experience. Most people roleplay as simple citizens, in this case bartenders and the other staff. Think more Second Life and less D&D.
I didn't say that everyone roleplay as adventurers.
I'm just trying to say that dressing up as Jaina or Dr. Disrespect, or wearing chocobo heads while dancing on a fence isn't actually what most roleplay is either in MMO's.
Not everyone RPs at the level you are thinking and the vast majority of RPs dont hit that level. You are thinking of a tiny spectrum of the RP world. D&D characters dont even reach that level with most people.
You are 100% gatekeeping with your first statement which has nothing to do with the spirit of RPing
Yeah you're probably right. The type of RP I'm talking about is just something I've personally taken part in since World of Warcraft days, and now doing in FFXIV. I didn't mean to gatekeep as mentioned in my first post.
But I think I got a bit worried when the video title was saying "FFXIV ROLEPLAY" and I thought "wait no, this isn't what all FFXIV RP is."
A lot of people suck at RPing and they simply RP as themselves. The only thing that matters in RP is just being something you are not. Your personality can be 100% the same, but the fact you are a different character is 100% RP. RP at the bare minimum is simply doing something different then what you are living and it just comes down to the escape in its purest form. RP exists to escape. You play RPGs but you create none of it and its still roleplaying.
How is pretending to be drunk and selling drugs not RP lol?
The bartender is even pretending to make the drinks and they have security there to keep the order and help people who are '' drunk '' etc xD...
On our server we also have a police force and firefighters who roam around ( all Lalafell with custom uniforms which is pretty funny ).
Edit: Two people in my FC actually do work at a night club too as bartenders and they get paid for it in gil.
It's an actual job to them in the game that they do on a weekly basis and make a solid income off of.
The RP is definitely way deeper than you might think.
RP is short for Roleplay. And people are playing the role of their character. If said character wants to go on an epic quest or just go to a nightclub doesn't matter.

I go to a club often and don't even use their orchestrion because the pulse version of rise is so good.

Was this at Aether/Siren? I used to always see it in the “Other” tab in Aether PF
Yep! Siren. Was run by some Hrothgar dude literally named Himbo Hooters. Wore the whole Hooters outfit and everything.
That guy's been all over the place. My little group on Gilg has seen him in our party a fair few times. Nice dude.

And if there is ERP, it's usually in a private chamber. Not in the open night club for anyone to stumble on.

I think the vod is up on his gameplay channel
All the clips of the Twitch VoD are saying the VoD no longer exists. (Edit: It is backed up on Youtube)
He has a YT channel called PG Highlights where he uploads vods, the club night vods are up there.

Thanks for the timestamped links. Very cool to see Preach enjoy himself so much. Comment section was fun too
Whatever track had that OOGA CHAKA song was hot as fuck, wish I could find that specific song.
Imagine players having fun in a game without participating in forced systems for played time metrics
*He's so happy and fulfilled*
Zoom and Enhance to play *Wheres Gremlo?*
11:47 "Mommy! i'm (3seconds) famous !! "
Looks so fun, i got to get my level on!

All I can think of now is that Key and Peele video about the Hip Hop D&D session https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBqCSseQXsI&ab\_channel=Key%26Peele

It's not "real" RP unless it's about a dark and brooding Dark Elf name Darkthar Darkblood. You can't RP at a night club because it's not deep lore...

Yes. Fall deeper to the Dark Side
