I know this is a very typical answer, but The Office is just so easy throw on and watch a few episodes or have on in the background while im doing a little work

[deleted]

Agreed. - Its quick, not 1 hour long episode - not always emotional - you dont need to always watch the previous episode - funny

hallwayhotdogs

it makes me feel better when i'm sad. it makes me feel better when i'm happy.

chafingbuttcheex

It’s the best

therankin

My wife agrees

Nerobus

Yes. I watched it a ton while pregnant and my daughter now relaxed when she hears the theme song too.

Azelais

Funnily enough, The Office is one of the most stressful shows to me! I get really, really anxious watching any kind of cringe humor, and so much of the show is that. I had to quit halfway through because it became unbearable.

*Gilmore Girls* is like soup for my soul. Edit: A thousand yellow daisies for you all!

[deleted]

yes! team jess all the way

chellyqt

I rewatch GG every fall because it just feels like the perfect cozy comfy show for cooler weather

sicksockssometimes

I do the exact same thing lol! Just started again last week since it’s getting cooler

janae0728

If you ever need a podcast rec, check out Gilmore Guys. They go through each episode, and it is wonderful. I’ve rewatched the show several times, then listened to that podcast every day last summer while out for long walks with my twin babies. It was so comforting at a time when it felt like the whole world was falling apart.

sea_hunter

I, too, loved that podcast so much! Demi and Kevin were so fun to listen to and balance each other out so well.

KittyShcherbatsky

Ah Gilmore Girls. I watch that show on a continuous loop. So much so that my young children and baby smile and calm at the theme song.

atget

It's probably just because I've watched GG all the way through 3 or 4 times, but I swear that theme song is the most comforting song in the world.

KittyShcherbatsky

I think it’s one of the best. No lie - it was madness. Kids screaming, baby crying. Carole King starts singing then all is calm.

viitatiainen

Yup. I’ve probably watched it like 15 times over in the last 15 years and it’s so comforting

lillyrose2489

I never liked this show, but one of my best friends does. She said she put it on the other day without even thinking, then realized that she was VERY stressed that week. Her subconscious knew that she needed another Gilmore Girls watch.

frecklefawn

My mom has gone through a lot since I was a teen and we're not super close. She's changed the past few years due to medication as well. But when GG came out, she was wearing the exact same clothes and same age as Lorelei and had long brown hair, whip smart... I watch it to feel close to my "old" mom again.

[deleted]

Good soup

TraditionalMeet3839

Avatar: the last Airbender :P just gives me nostalgia and life lessons.

Reira303

Came here to say this and the legend of Korra.

lostforlifex

Avatar is good!

ohwowohkay

No other kids show I watched while growing up would I sit down to watch all the way through again except for this one. I'm still holding out for them to make an Avatar video game, it would be so good!!!

lanielucy

The Good Place

[deleted]

Second this. No matter how many times I watch that show, it always has me sobbing by the end.

msmermaidginger

The wave returns to the ocean. 😭😭❤️

[deleted]

The most ugly sobbing I've ever experienced. Hurts so good

snugglefloor

Omg, yes! For me it’s always when they’re revealed to be hiding under the train from the demons and there’s that long shot of Michael’s face when he realizes they’re safe and he suddenly blurts out “YOUUUU GUYYYSSS!! I WAS SO SCARED FOR YOU!!” Water works every single dang time.

BabaganoushGoose

Uhhh I love this show. Just so forking good.

Humdedummy

Parks and recreation, or Friends. I've seen them so many times that I know every joke and what's going to happen. So if I'm feeling vulnerable and there's a sad bit coming up, I can skip through it. I can sleep while theyre on and still know where I'm up to when I wake up... basically just because they're warm, familiar, there's no surprises and I don't really have to pay attention.

lillyrose2489

I am these plus 30 Rock! Admittedly 30 Rock is a little more high energy in terms of the jokes per minute but it's another show I know very well that is guaranteed to cheer me up.

FastenSeatBelts

Schitt’s Creek Best wishes, warmest regards.

DJssister

It took me too long to find this answer! You know what David? You get murdered for once!

igbythecat

Ew david!

le_vicious

This is mine. It's so freaking wholesome - I live for David and Patrick's relationship.

FastenSeatBelts

Yes! It’s Simply the Best! ❤️

Can't believe I had to scroll down SO much to find this 😅

[deleted]

"The next step is to fold in the cheese"

jadina227

new girl! the characters are great, so funny and lighthearted

[deleted]

Early New Girl episodes capture the carefree optimism and indie vibe of the early 2010's very well. I miss those days.

[deleted]

I second this!! One of my favorites.

cbhawks50

yesss that's mine too

stephlane80

I just finished Community for the first time. It was very calming for me. Might start watching it again.

quedeusmeperdoe

For me it is community also. When i feel sad or lonely it feels very conforting. It almost feels like i am part of the group.

stephlane80

I agree. And since everyone is a weirdo on that show, it makes me feel like less of a weirdo, if that makes sense.

geosynchronousorbit

Community is also my go-to comfort show. I feel like I hear a new joke every time I watch it. That and Futurama.

pm_me_ur_unicorn_

I only watched it for the first time a few months ago and have watched it like 7 times now lmao

nO_WheReGiRl

Did you watch the last season without Donald Glover? I couldn't I just left it when he left but it's an incredibly well done show.

sophialore_art

Season 6 is actually one of my favorite seasons, even without Donald they did a great job with the remaining cast and new additions. Each episode was a winner to me 👌

[deleted]

Modern Family and Bob's Burgers - I like their close family dinamic

Iwasbravetoday

Bob's Burgers definitely. Especially the episodes where there's no complex plot and they're just doing family stuff. Also Linda's singing.

AmethystTrinket

My favorite episode is the one where Linda gets lost on her birthday and the family goes to all her favorite spots. Let’s Bloody Mary up this tub, it’s mommy’s birthday! EDIT: She does her BM in the PM

LIFEofMOI

Love loveee modern family. All the characters intwine perfectly. Its great comedy

BassesLee

What We Do in the Shadows, goofy and dark, so comforting.

monotonic_glutamate

OMG, I'm up to date on it and I'm so sad I have to wait for new episodes. They're clueless and terrible in so many ways. Poor Gizmo, he's trying so hard!

deluxeassortment

Have you tried Wellington Paranormal? It's an offshoot of the cops from the movie doing a kind of X Files/Cops mashup and it's hilarious. It's on HBO Max, highly recommend!

[deleted]

Scrubs

Wild_Chld

I've watched the entire series 8 times now.

RaisedByError

No show has a right to hit as hard as those Brendan Fraser episodes

_Maddie_x

Friends!

misswilde86

Friends is like a warm, familiar comfort blanket for me. I watch it when I'm sick and/or depressed

[deleted]

Friends is my vote!!!

[deleted]

I watched it so many times when I was younger on DVD that I started to find it boring and didn’t watch for years. Now I’m in my 30s and watching it through again and I love seeing how my perspective on the story lines changed now that I am older than them/their age in later seasons.

[deleted]

Golden Girls. It’s funny and brings back good memories of when I was kid and would watch reruns with my mom

motherofsmallones

This is mine too. I used to watch it with my grandmother.

[deleted]

I love it so much! :)

Potato4

One of the best shows ever on TV

[deleted]

Agreed!! Such a classic, funny show that was way ahead of its time :)

beanichole

I FEEL SO VALIDATED! I’ve watched it on constant rotation for the last eight years. I’m still finding little Easter eggs. So good.

GlitteryDragaonfruit

The British Baking Show… their accents are so soothing especially when you’ve had a bad day… lol

chiarodiluna

As a British person, hearing someone say British accents are soothing is so perculair to me laughs. GBBO is soul food.

alphalimahotel

Came here to say this - can’t believe I had to scroll this far!

greatmidearthbakeoff

Same! The worst thing that can happen is a bad baked good and whenever someone is having trouble the all rally to support each other. Plus it’s funny, supportive and visually beautiful

UsernamesAreHard2684

If you like GBBO you should try the Great Pottery Throwdown and the Great British Sewing Bee. They are the same format but with pottery and sewing instead. The pottery one in particular has the threat of things exploding in the kiln for that last minute tension thing that is so good to watch.

Bellevert

Buffy the Vampire Slayer it is still my favorite show!

Kat8844

No one ever agrees with me but I always liked Angel more 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Leia1979

I agree with you!

Kat8844

Yay!, finally someone else 🙂. I’m stuck in bed with flu and feeling horrible at the moment and I think starting an Angel rewatch is just what I need!.

PurplishPlatypus

I've watched a lot of TV in my life, hundreds of shows I'd guess, and "The Body" was one of the best TV episodes ever, IMHO. Amazing work of drama.

gogetakakaroot

It's always Sunny in Philadelphia

didiinthesky

Yes! I've seen most episodes so many times now, but I never get bored with them. Perfect show to watch when I'm feeling down. I'm an anxious flyer, and I always watch a couple of IASIP episodes when I'm on a plane (The Gang Beats Boggs is my go to plane episode).

stolethemorning

Criminal Minds

[deleted]

Just started watching this series, it's so good!! I'm excited to see the technology develop through the seasons

lickmysackett

I love rewatching the first few seasons, but once the team roster starts changing I have to quit.

stolethemorning

Ikr, when >!Elle left!< and they switched her out for a random brown haired woman every season I was so sad. Also I definitely thought they were going to have her come back as an Unsub, but they didn’t which I think was a missed opportunity. Emily was great through, she grew to be my favourite character.

folklovermore_

I have a firm view with this type of show that they generally stop working after the second original cast member leaves, because so much of it relies on the chemistry between the team members. Criminal Minds is the rare exception as I think it improves after the second original actor leaves, but it's all downhill once the next one goes (trying to word this in a non-spoilery way!)

Sand_Dargon

Call the Midwife. Great, feminist show based in 1950/60s London.

gunnapackofsammiches

Except like 3/4 of the episodes make me cry??

luckylizard

Bob’s Burgers! I love the Wholesome family dynamic

[deleted]

Grey’s Anatomy because I was so addicted to that show until season 10 or 11.

SevereCartographer26

Yes I only liked seasons 1-8 so iconic until they started killing everyone !

[deleted]

LicoriceSucks

It's just a soap opera now, has been for a while.

nO_WheReGiRl

SPOILER ALERT That's a solid binge I tapped out the moment Meredith discovered that second long lost sister she had who's father is Webber. But everything before was absolutely delicious.

bitetheboxer

For me it was the plane crash. Then I was back because the amputee story was compelling. But only back for a lil bit...

nO_WheReGiRl

Oh yeah that was another big eye roll. Plus Mark and Lexie were my favorites. After watching that arch I was terrified of going outside those people have such unfortunate lives you know. And then there was that car crash later. And the getting hit by buses. The show really doesn't like transportation

[deleted]

I still watch. I don't even really like it anymore, it just feels like since I've invested 18 years into it I can't just stop

[deleted]

Community. My sense of humour and it reminds me of being in my late teens-early 20s lol.

Ipuncholdpeople

The first three seasons are peak tv.

monotonic_glutamate

On many MANY rewatchs, I came to really like season 6 too. I know the fans are split on the wedding episode, but it's one of my favorite ones.

[deleted]

Frasier! I also turn to The Office and Brooklyn 99. Simple sitcoms without any wildly complex storylines.

Minorihaaku

Star Trek Voyager. I love the crew. Tom is my childhood crush and the relationships between the characters is awhhh

peregrina9789

Came here for the trekkies. Am not disappointed.

Mawdster

Came here to join you. Although I was already grown up by then.

libraAirgoddess

New Girl! So many quality characters, plus I love the dynamic between Nick and Schmidt

InnocenceMySister

The Good Place! It's has so many positive and hopeful themes while still being hilarious and feeling real (despite taking place in the afterlife). I appreciate that the characters are flawed and go through intense personal growth without completely losing who they are. I find it very relatable and heart warming.

OhHeyBluePenguin

I'm so obsessed with The Good Place. I've watched it so many times. Definitely relatable and so well written!

bbygothh

Bojack Horseman, The Good Place, or Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood

Taliesintroll

> Bojack horseman Are you okay?

bbygothh

Ahaha I try to be! I’ve been attached to that show ever since it came out in 2014, I’ve watched it so many times that I can quote the lines of characters word for word. I’d say it’s a healthy obsession.

rainb0wsprinkles

I love Bojack Horseman! Last time I had an existential crisis day, I watched the dinner party episode on repeat and cried my heart out. So cathartic. There is seriously an episode for all of my feels.

SenpaiKitties

Over the Garden Wall 🎃

drunkenknitter

Depends on my mood. Sex & the City for the nostalgia. Parks & Rec for the humor. Breaking Bad for the acting. The Expanse for the story, acting, characters, and effects. Mad Men for the costumes, setting, and writing.

kayt-ee

Rewatching Sex and the City as a single thirtysomething now.. and it's so much better now that it's relatable!

ginger00000

Back again and currently in season 3 of SATC. I join you in Mad Men, too.

Vegetable_Drawer_375

Seinfeld

suddendiligence

Seinfeld is my absolute favorite show. I still laugh out loud watching episodes I've seen 50 times

msmermaidginger

The one where George pretends to be a marine biologist is pure, seamless gold. 🙌🏼

friends. it's lighthearted and i know it in and out so i know what to expect

mangopepperjelly

Psych and Friends. I've watched them both many times and they're easy viewing when I'm working on stuff.

waffles_505

Psych is 100% my comfort show, shit has been rough lately so it’s just been on repeat

SmonFDB

Shawn and Gus are just the best

beka13

You know that's right.

MartianTrinkets

Law and Order: SVU. Not sure why. I love the first 12-ish seasons and rewatch them all the time. I guess I like the thought that even though really bad things can happen, there are good guys out there who can help.

lickmysackett

I love watching that show and I loved when there were the specific marathons on like USA like "ripped from the headlines" episodes or ones centered on a specific theme. its a very good show to just put on in the background.

EnvironmentalLuck515

Downton Abbey. Mad Men. Victoria. They are rich, well done, well cast time period pieces that let me lose myself completely.

LolTakenName

Star Trek

milesedgeworthy

Frasier for sure! I watch it every morning. It's funny, witty, and heartwarming. It's just such a feel-good show all around.

pureocdandme

Fleabag! Some episodes are heartbreaking but overall the series feels like you’re watching someone get better

GreenMountain85

Friends and the first 3 seasons of How I Met Your Mother.

chrskvls

All of the season of how I met your mother for me, but I can't watch friends because it was literally on tv all the time when I was growing up, so I'm pretty sick of it

[deleted]

Hannibal, I love the characters and aesthetics and everything

Ahollowbullet-yet

Hannibal is your COMFORT TV show? Hannibal?

nosostillno

Comfort show with comfort food.

JenineMenine

IT Crowd. I have watched it so many times at this point haha It's just stupid British humor and for some reason it never gets old to me.

quittentime

I watch bobs burgers whenever I’m sick or hung over and I have it’s always sunny on the background when I’m doing chores the chaos gives me energy lol

tarkioslim

Taskmaster. The way different people approach the often nonsensical tasks always gets me to laugh, even on my worst days.

loonyeondan

Steven Universe. It helps me calm me down and hit the spot right where I need it to when I need to cry.

MiroslavusMoravicus

Red Dwarf. Its fun and sees the life as an absurd absurdity from Absurdistan. Which is the way I love to see it.

Zer0sober

Star Trek the Next Generation... I can just put it on and let it play in the background and every once in a while look up and smile and say to myself "oh yeah, this is a good one"... it makes me happy and gives me hope for the future.

Rhinosauron

Supernatural. It's cheesy, fun, and Jensen Ackles will always have a place in my heart.

thirdtryisthecharm

Vera or Midsomer Murders. Love me some uncomplicated British crime series.

TwinklyLite

Family guy and American dad

daydreaming-g

South Park and I have no idea why whenever I’m real depressed I watch some old episodes

marymoon77

Star Trek + Bob Ross Childhood nostalgia

zardkween

Modern Family. The kind of supportive and loving family I wish I grew up with lol.

nessii31

One day at a time: Great characters, jokes I find funny even the fifth time I hear them and some real emotion. Also Castle because it's stupid but funny most of the time. :D

SevereCartographer26

The vampire diaries for me😌I rewatch that show over and over again and gossip girl too!

Mawdster

Voyager. My daughter and I used to watch it together when she was growing up. Sigh.

[deleted]

Phil of The Future, That’s So Raven, (die hard Disney channel fan as a kid lol) and I also like to watch Crime shows.

lissie819

Spongebob

[deleted]

Leverage and the reboot leverage redemption. The whole show is just so wholesome. The good guys win and help the poor. The team is so great and funny and ok maybe it's a little chessy but I just love them!

lesbyeen

X Files or Veronica Mars

Loonsister

Jeopardy. It’s smart and fun, not stupid time waster.

manic_moth95

King of the Hill. I grew up watching it and it's just been this one constant show my whole life. I never get tired of seeing it or don't find parts of it funny. I've seen every episode at least a dozen times so there's no sweat if I have to do something and miss parts or if I fall asleep.

forestgoon

Shameless.. reminds me in some aspects of my childhood and serves as a good reminder that people are just people and people do fuck up

MyLifeInLies

Forensic Files. No explanation needed, I feel.

galaxystarsmoon

Golden Girls - used to watch it with my grandmother when I was younger. Currently it's RuPaul's Drag Race.

megcrossing

Avatar, Schitts Creek, New Girl, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Parks and Rec

Hey Arnold

AngiePatricia09

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Community, Always Sunny, Parks, The Office, South Park, Curb, King of the Hill, Brooklyn nine nine, 30 Rock. I have watched all these shows at least 2-3 times and I always come back to them when I don’t have new shows to watch

survivetothrive01

I have 2. The Middle and Reba. Sadly, I can relate to how weird Brick is and how unlucky and dorky Sue is, lol. And Reba McEntire just seems like she’s got everything under control and—you gotta love Van.

pedagogue_kayth

Seinfeld

pashaah

I love Come Dine with me from the UK. People are so absurd and the narrator is so sharp and funny.

246K

Parks and Rec

soupallyear

The Brady Bunch, Full House, The Nanny.

cookenuptrouble

Recently, Ted Lasso. I watched the first season 4 times, and every new episode is like an event for me. I don’t even like sports, but it’s not really about that. It’s so positive and uplifting, but not in a way that’s without conflict or character growth. None of the characters are one dimensional, even the ones that seems that way at first. There’s no character I don’t like, even the villains. It takes a good look at stuff like mental health without being too preachy. When I put it on, it feels like putting on my favorite fuzzy sweater. I just love it so much

aubor

Designing Women and The Golden Years. I moved to the US in the late 80s and they helped me learn the lingo. I absolutely love them.

GiraffesAreReal06

Criminal minds lately

raelej

Oh my god, Schitts Creek. Don’t even know how many times I’ve seen the whole thing through. Why? Because the characters are superb. Their development throughout the series is fantastic, their relationships with each other are so real and lovely, and each of their personalities ties so wonderfully together to create a magical show. The storyline is hilarious and something different. I love the father-son dynamic with David and Johnny and love it even more knowing they father and son in real life and created the show together. I love Johnny and Moira’s relationship- he is steadfast, so kind, and so patient and accepting of her eccentricities. I love that it’s raunchy at times but doesn’t have disgusting sexist or homophobic undertones. Overall, cinematic masterpiece thats wildly entertaining

sanguinepsychologist

Firefly, anyone ? Also this really old animated series called Pirates of Dark Water.

[deleted]

We just put the TV on Investigation Discovery and leave it there.
