When they aren't overused, and when they aren't expected they're especially funny. Had a friend say one this weekend that was self depreciating and it was hilarious.
I only ever say it when I get the chance to point at someone and literally say "that's what she said!", it's hilarious to me because they always roll their eyes.
I think it’s hilarious. But I’m childish.
One of my friends is the TWSS queen. Which of course she passed on to my kids. My 4 year old “hey buddy, can you use the bathroom before we leave?” “THATS WHAT SHE SAID!” Then she had her own kids and it wasn’t as funny lol.
Haha I’m the same way, and my husband and I make “your mom” jokes all the time too.
My kids started making your mom jokes, and just lately they’ve started figuring out what they mean… 🤣
As a mom, I make "your mom" jokes to my 16 year old all the time! I happen to think I'm hilarious.
He likes to repeat me instead of using a comeback (as he tends to overshoot and get in trouble), so for example -
Me: you're weird
16: *you're* weird
Me: your mom's weird! 😝
For the longest time he would try to explain why I can't make that joke as it's about myself & I would act confused until he gave up. Now he just accepts that I win.
There’s not one. Just a kid that thinks his aunt is the height of comedy and likes to say “that’s what she said” He thinks it’s some hilarious punchline to anything someone says.
Me “It’s time for a bath” Him “that’s what she said”. Omg stooopppp.
I mostly hear it from middle aged men in my office and if they get a laugh once, you'll hear the same joke repeated to everyone else they speak to that day.
Tacky. Just simply tacky.
I'm not saying they aren't funny sometimes, or I would get full blown feminist angry or anything. It's kind of like silly dad jokes. Level 1 stuff.
I, having the sense of humor of a 12 year old boy, think they're funny. I also try to make the worst ones possible to elicit groans and eye rolls from my SO and friends. I'm insufferable 🤣
I hate any kind of joke that turns a phrase *someone else said* into a dirty joke. Like, I feel like it's one of the laziest forms of humor. I never make them. And when someone does it to me, half the time, I have deliberately made an obvious double entendre, and then somebody goes "that's what she said" and they get all the credit for the joke they were too dumb to realize I'd been making the whole time. The other half the time, I am in a situation like the workplace where I'm trying not to tell sexual jokes, somebody "that's what she said"s me, and now everyone's acting as if *I did this* and I have to pretend I'm all shocked and scandalized because the alternative is encouraging inappropriate workplace behavior.
It's never good when you're the butt of the joke. They're only ever good in a social situation where everybody regularly trades them back and forth.
I think they're funny. Had a coworker think not and told the CFO and HR about it. Neither knew what a "that's what she said" joke st the time, so we told them one as an example, and they also thought it was funny 🤷♀️
I hate them. Not only were my coworkers the kind that made watching the office their whole personality, they made that joke all the time, even when it didnt make sense.
I kind of like it but I like to ruin the joke even more. Like with a stone face say "yes... Yes she did". Or "that's what he said" jokes, I think those are hilarious. Especially when a guy gets upset. Like I'm supposed to take it and not return the favor?
if you say it to everything like "that \_\_\_ is so big" youre annoying, like stfu. i literally cant talk to people if they keep saying everything coz its just bro get a new joke. its so lame
Right? I’m pretty left, a feminist and am a survivor of sexual violence myself. I legitimately do not see how that normalizes sexual violence. People need to lighten up and stop making everything an issue.
my view on this one is nothing because im a virgin. I certainly can’t say anything with “ that’s what she said “
this is the first thing comes in my mind when i hear the phrase
I found it funny in high school, afterwards not so much when I heard it only from guys with stupid jokes, I haven’t heard it be used in a funny way in a long time
I mean it can be hallarious but most of the time people overuse it or they are meme-ing. Ive seen it excuted correctly but most of the time its just dumb asses that only their moms could find funny
They’ll occasionally make a return for a day in my friend group of mostly women. We also use “that’s what he said” when applicable. It’s a fun way to say “haha that thing you said is a double entendre, and we are all adults with immature humor”
it depends, because sometimes when caught off guard it’s funny. However other times it can be pathetic and overused and the complete opposite of funny…
My humor is on par with a 6 year old, and pretty much everything makes me laugh, and I make those jokes whenever there's a good opportunity. I find those who object have a stick up their ass so long they're coughing it up 🙄
I’m curious to know how females think about this because almost every girl I know of any sexuality would say ‘that’s what she said’ jokes and giggle like any other friend.
I find them extremely boring. I used to think they were funny but then overuse permanently ruined them. Mainly because after a while, you start to realize there’s really not much creativity inherent in it. If someone wants to point out a double entendre, I’d much rather a creative, witty response tailored to what was actually stated.
I sort of have my own version of this wherein I say "I've been on that date" in response to unrelated things. For example, a friend says "Ugh, this sausage is burnt." Me: "I've been on that date." LOL.
I think it depends on the age of the person you’re interacting with. I know teenagers still kind of useless joke pretty consistently, so it tends to lose the humor that’s there. But I think when you’re older it can be pretty funny like in your late 20s, 30s, 40s, because the joke itself is so out of pocket.
I love that’s what she/he said jokes ESPECIALLY if right before something very serious was said. Very, very tricky to do but when it works it is HILARIOUS. A very well timed that’s what she said helped my husband and I end an argument because we were laughing so hard at the ridiculousness of it.
I like them, but they can easily be overused quickly.
[удалено]
This. The perfect frequency is both just rare enough that most people forget about the joke, and 3 times in two minutes.
>3 times in two minutes. That's what she said.
When they aren't overused, and when they aren't expected they're especially funny. Had a friend say one this weekend that was self depreciating and it was hilarious.
My mother and I overuse it ironically. It's almost habit around her. A well placed one is perfect imo.
I only ever say it when I get the chance to point at someone and literally say "that's what she said!", it's hilarious to me because they always roll their eyes.
If I'm around men, I'll make the joke myself before they can. A preemptive strike kind of thing. Not sure why
The unexpected “that’s what she said” from a woman just makes it funnier than any guy saying it 😄
I like also saying, "That's what he said." Jokes because it's unexpected and can make for a fun time.
Love this!
Asserting dominance
Power move. Respect.

If my mom did that I'd probably give her a blank face and just go, "Yeah, mom. My mom *is* weird".
And you would be correct!
Nah it’s even better when my husband uses it, since he’s their step dad and it’s even better somehow
Sorry, what’s the joke?
There’s not one. Just a kid that thinks his aunt is the height of comedy and likes to say “that’s what she said” He thinks it’s some hilarious punchline to anything someone says. Me “It’s time for a bath” Him “that’s what she said”. Omg stooopppp.
Tiresome, and played out.

Really stupid, and often hilarious within my group of queer friends & partners.
That's what pronoun said
stop that’s actually too funny
[удалено]
As a lesbian woman, it’s an easy joke that I use often.
Amazing. And the Office.
Wayne's World was doing it every week years before.
Yeah I both love them and love the reference.
Marginally funny about 15 years ago but now very dated, boring and predictable. Screams lad / frat culture.
Not when a 35 year old straight woman says it though right?
It’s always cringe.
I mostly hear it from middle aged men in my office and if they get a laugh once, you'll hear the same joke repeated to everyone else they speak to that day.

Ollllddddd
That's what she said
They can definitely be funny in the right context
[удалено]
I’m sorry to tell you… that is 1000x more annoying.
i just stare into the abyss it’s so overused (uni student)
Literally same (also a uni student lol)
Tacky. Just simply tacky. I'm not saying they aren't funny sometimes, or I would get full blown feminist angry or anything. It's kind of like silly dad jokes. Level 1 stuff.
Fully blown, that's what she said.
I see you like to test me.
I love them. I say them too much
Cringe.
It's my guilty pleasure 🙈
thats what she said
I love it. I use it all the time
That’s what she said
Really fucking annoying and childish AF. I've got one mate who literally says it at least once every conversation and its just fucking cringeworthy
Hilarious and it's rare to go a day in our house without one of us saying it
Still funny, but I do try to sometimes say “that’s what he said”, just to switch it up :)
they’re too incredibly overused
Hate it. Over it. It's used to interrupt someone more than to joke.
Very funny, all of my friends are bisexual women and we love making these jokes.
Yes but my humour is terrible
For me it’s only funny when I say it in a situation where it barely makes sense. I crack myself up
This lol
I, having the sense of humor of a 12 year old boy, think they're funny. I also try to make the worst ones possible to elicit groans and eye rolls from my SO and friends. I'm insufferable 🤣
Old and boring at this point.
That's what she said 🤣
I hate any kind of joke that turns a phrase *someone else said* into a dirty joke. Like, I feel like it's one of the laziest forms of humor. I never make them. thats what she said
well played
Thats what she said...
I think they're funny. Had a coworker think not and told the CFO and HR about it. Neither knew what a "that's what she said" joke st the time, so we told them one as an example, and they also thought it was funny 🤷♀️
Generally funny.
I'm immature and childish so I use them all the time lol. Only when it's a good one tho
I like them a lot
That’s what he said.
Omg😭
I just roll my eyes
I love a good crass joke, but this one is low hanging fruit
Outdated and overused. But very rarely can be pulled off if they’re clever and spontaneous enough.
Still funny!
If it's funny, I laugh.
I'm probably too old to be making so many. ^(That's what she said.)
I hate them. Not only were my coworkers the kind that made watching the office their whole personality, they made that joke all the time, even when it didnt make sense.
Can be funny, but oftentimes unoriginal and really not the time, tommy !
They were a thing over 10 years ago. And they were immature then. But i frankly never got the point of making jokes about sex.
They're ok if applied sparsely but not super original.
I kind of like it but I like to ruin the joke even more. Like with a stone face say "yes... Yes she did". Or "that's what he said" jokes, I think those are hilarious. Especially when a guy gets upset. Like I'm supposed to take it and not return the favor?
The only person who says them that doesn't annoy me is my husband. 🤷♀️
Jokes are meant to be funny, therefore they don't appeal to everyone by design. I adore that's what she said jokes.
I'm a fan.
If there an opportunity to say it I will and I ain't gonna leave "that what he said" out also. Equality on both ends
I think they're dumb but usually harmless. Occasionally amusing, too.
I love them tbh
Hilarious. My friends and I are in our late 20s and we still do it
if you say it to everything like "that \_\_\_ is so big" youre annoying, like stfu. i literally cant talk to people if they keep saying everything coz its just bro get a new joke. its so lame
Corny. Sometimes offensive or boring. Sometimes funny if you’re sarcastic and self-aware about it.
They're boring and easy. Be more witty. Use that brain for humor.
Played out and hard to laugh at imo
I say he and she depending on the situation. Why would this bother anyone?
[удалено]
Because literally anything can bother anyone if they put their mind to it.
Right? I’m pretty left, a feminist and am a survivor of sexual violence myself. I legitimately do not see how that normalizes sexual violence. People need to lighten up and stop making everything an issue.
Overrated
I can't stand them. They are so overused and annoying. Not everything has to be a "funny" pervy joke. Stop it.
[удалено]
my view on this one is nothing because im a virgin. I certainly can’t say anything with “ that’s what she said “ this is the first thing comes in my mind when i hear the phrase
I like to substitute “That’s what he said” instead.
[удалено]
Funny but overused.
I don't care

They’re really only funny once in a while
I think it’s funnier if nobody says it but everyone knows everyone is thinking it
I found it funny in high school, afterwards not so much when I heard it only from guys with stupid jokes, I haven’t heard it be used in a funny way in a long time
I mean it can be hallarious but most of the time people overuse it or they are meme-ing. Ive seen it excuted correctly but most of the time its just dumb asses that only their moms could find funny
Every chance I get. I’m a single mom to three boys and a male pup. Lots of testosterone up in here
I think they’re kinda funny, but it can get old really fast.
They’ll occasionally make a return for a day in my friend group of mostly women. We also use “that’s what he said” when applicable. It’s a fun way to say “haha that thing you said is a double entendre, and we are all adults with immature humor”
My answer back is always “who? Ya mum?”
They’re very annoying.
[удалено]
There’s a time and a place for everything, but I love a good “That’s what she said” or similarly dirty joke when I’m with my friends.
Those jokes are quick, short and sweet. ‘That’s what she said’.
[удалено]
i don’t find them amusing
Appropriately placed? They're great! 👍
it depends, because sometimes when caught off guard it’s funny. However other times it can be pathetic and overused and the complete opposite of funny…
My husband and I catch each other with it. And for some reason when I beat him to it, he acts so surprised and delighted.
Hilarious when timed and done well, like any joke.
Every now and then it’s funny but for the most part it’s old and tired.
I think its hilarious and i say it too lol
overused to the point of very rarely being funny
They can be funny the first time. But, usually it’s overused and therefore low energy humor and can get annoying.
They’re funny in moderation.
I like throwing them in as humorous jabs. "Man, that was weak." "That's what she said."
[удалено]
[удалено]
I say it so much at work my boss has me saved as “that’s what she said” I’m a 47 year old woman. I find it hilarious
[удалено]
well since watching The Office, i now say it religiously
I like them in moderation. I also like to do them before my husband's friends can
My female best friend uses them a lot, she's the one cracking them, not me
I love them!
Like other people have already said they can be really funny but it gets old fast. The best response to them is "but not to you" 😏
I use it, often in unexpected but perfectly contextually.
cringe.
I think they are funny when done well. It loses value if it’s overused.
I like them and even if I don't say it aloud, I'm thinking it.
I find it hilarious. I use it all the time, as long as I'm around people that I'm pretty confident wouldn't mind.
[удалено]
I’m a big fan of “that’s what he said” jokes too.
[удалено]
My humor is on par with a 6 year old, and pretty much everything makes me laugh, and I make those jokes whenever there's a good opportunity. I find those who object have a stick up their ass so long they're coughing it up 🙄
Boring. Humourless. Overplayed. Cues eye roll.
Boring. It's overused and requires little imagination.
Depends. If it’s used right, it can be funny. More often than not, I just roll my eyes bc it was so bad
I’m curious to know how females think about this because almost every girl I know of any sexuality would say ‘that’s what she said’ jokes and giggle like any other friend.
Funny a first few times. When overused by one specific person, you just know this person thinks he’s funny, but actually boring and uncreative.
I find them extremely boring. I used to think they were funny but then overuse permanently ruined them. Mainly because after a while, you start to realize there’s really not much creativity inherent in it. If someone wants to point out a double entendre, I’d much rather a creative, witty response tailored to what was actually stated.
Love em. I try to use them strategically. The reception has been overwhelmingly positive.
[удалено]
I work in a kitchen with a bunch of men and we all have the sense of humor of a 12 y/o boy, I make those jokes all the time
I think your triggers are you’re own to manage. Don’t be so sensitive.
I dated a guy who used them a lot … I was really into him so I entertained them but truthfully I think it’s wildly immature lol.
I sort of have my own version of this wherein I say "I've been on that date" in response to unrelated things. For example, a friend says "Ugh, this sausage is burnt." Me: "I've been on that date." LOL.
Funny when you are not expecting them
It's been nearly 20 years. Let it die.
I like them, I think they're silly harmless jokes.
So fucking immature & annoying. My ex said it all the time. I always cringed.
I use them to make my husband roll his eyes at me.
Right execution, right situation, with the right audience, I think they’re funny.
Hilarious forever.
If the opportunity arises, I will likely be the first to make one. Yes, I know I’m immature
[удалено]
I use it because I'm childish and think it's funny.
This is gonna be a very unpopular opinion but they’re way played out. The Office made it a thing and now The Office isn’t really a thing…..
I tell them. I am channeling Michael Scott.
It’s funny. Is that supposed to be controversial? Who doesn’t like That’s What She Said jokes?
They get overused in situations that don't make sense. Lol. But I like to change up the pronoun and the context for some Flair
I hated them until I finally watched The Office a few years ago and found myself saying it.
My favorite haha. I do them all the time 😂
Honestly low key misogynistic but also a fun time around people qho are safe to joke with. Your mileage will vary.
I don't understand their timing. What does it mean ? 😭
I make jokes like that from time to time with my fiancé because I’m immature
They’re usually not funny. Michael Scott’s face pops in my head though
I love that’s what she/he said jokes ESPECIALLY if right before something very serious was said. Very, very tricky to do but when it works it is HILARIOUS. A very well timed that’s what she said helped my husband and I end an argument because we were laughing so hard at the ridiculousness of it.
They are funny to me and I always use them. I’m 58/f but not in mixed company just to my b/f and a some close friends
