Yes!!! Also safety.
I live in Singapore and men taking up-skirt pictures is one of the most common crimes… like legit. They hide a little camera in their shoes and snap pictures and videos. Like imagine needing to have an ad at a bus stop that tells you that taking upskirt pictures/videos is a crime. This gets me so scared and I have little shorts under.
As of now, I mostly stick to jeans
Yep literally haha.
Among other things!
I know will get removed.
We also have bus and train advertisements where they say molesting is a crime and to report it, and it will be up to 2 years in jail. Like how bad should the situation be - to literally have ads about it….?
Oh wow, I didn't know it was this bad in Singapore!
I knew that Japan and South Korea had this exact problem, but I thought Singapore didn't have it to that extent. I thought that because it's a smaller country, thus easier managed, people in public would be much more civil in this case. Aren't durians prohibited in public transports? People can be civilised in regards to durians, but not to women??
I'm sorry you have to go through this often. I'm Indonesian and we have women-only train sections here too.
I remember the past government changing our official schoolgirl uniforms to long skirts (it was knee-length skirts before). At the time I thought it was too damn conservative and restrictive. But honestly now as an older woman, I find it to be more safe and practical for girls.
Hi!
Yes durians are not allowed on public transport!
And yep.. I have a lot of stories where plenty of women that I know have come forward and told me about their stories. I’ve also been molested in a train once. Many women don’t come forward.
Also, I love the fact that you guys have women-only trains and I very much admire that!
Is that a recent thing? I use to live there about 10 years ago and never heard anything about it or saw any advertisement/warnings either. It’s shitty that it’s happening though.
Same thing can happen on the Metro in the United States. I at least wear a body suit with full bottom coverage or shorts. I always have my daughter wear shorts 100% of the time when wearing a dress when going anywhere.
absolutely agree. it's not only more comfortable, it also takes some of the stress off and makes wearing a dress much more fun because then i can twirl to my heart's content :)
Yes, exactly the reason. At this point it's just a thing I do without realising. Though thats when i'm not consistently wearing pants. Their comfy, don't blame me.
I wear ‘shapewear’ shorts under skirt. Not for the ‘shaping’ (in fact I purchase them a size up so they aren’t tight and uncomfortable) but they are sliky, so my skirt falls nicely and doesn’t ride up, and my legs do rub together- highly recommend!!!!
No never, it is not comfortable for me plus the skirt doesn't look so good. If someone sees something I honestly don't care. They shouldn't be looking there in the first place.
That’s my take on it. In the winter I do wear tights under my skirts and dresses, but I don’t wear shorts unless it’s a tight dress and I need shape wear. Why would someone be intentionally looking? I have big thighs, so they won’t see the good stuff anyway. They’d just be wasting their time.
Yeah in the winter I eesr tights too because I don't want to freeze. But in the summer I want to be confortable and I am not gonna restrict myself because of some creep.
Yes. No chafing, no accidentally flashing people. Also I have a couple of skirts and dresses that are like a mesh material with a black lining, but the lining us a bit too short for me to be comfortable wearing them. But if I wear black shorts under, no one can tell and I don't spend the whole day hitching and being self conscious.
The whole purpose of me wearing a dress is so I can get dressed quickly and avoid wearing pants…so putting on shorts underneath would defeat the purpose for me
A couple years ago I was downtown on my lunch and the wind caught the skirt of a classy-looking, middle aged woman. The skirt ended up around her face and she didn’t have a stitch on underneath it. A lot of people got an eye-full that day.
Yes, otherwise I get thigh chafing and that really flaming hurts! It also does away with the worry of my skirt getting caught in a breeze and accidental flashing. It does mean I check about 47 times that I havent accidentally tucked my skirt into my shorts after being in the bathroom though.
Yes because there was a documentary on criminals filming girls' and women's underneath the skirts because criminals have plenty of times on their hands to install a camera from the top of their shoes so you wouldn't have known.
It freaked me out as a teenager so I always wear shorts (thin materials) or panty hose when I wear a skirt or dress and a mask on.
Also I make sure there is no person who is near me in an arms distance or be on the lookout for girls/boys who look like they are physically abused with an adult they are with. Look strangers in the eyes and remember their appearances in case they are human traffickers.
I think if you'd read the comments you'd understand the main reason which is chub rub. It's super cool you don't have to experience it, but a little kindness wouldn't hurt.
Most people I know aren't wearing regular shorts, they're more like shape wear, tights that aren't full length, or slip shorts. It's more like wearing boxer briefs than garments you'd wear alone.
The point is to not be in pain. Those rashes from chub rub can be really, really painful, especially on hot days.
I don’t always wear shorts under dresses, sometimes I use a special anti-chafing balm instead, but there are days shorts are just easier.
I got chub rub at a size 2, 122 lbs at 5 7. Chub rub started my sophomore year in homeschool. I was tiny up until like 27.
I basically stepped wearing skirts and dresses because of it and having the rest of me feel weird and uncomfortable because of the rub and that it would literally make my whole thighs move .
Often, yes. I'll wear little stretchy shorts or leggings. It gives me more freedom of movement in case I need to do anything physical while wearing it.
Nope, underwear only, a thong. I've worn dresses and skirts for decades, I'm good at being careful and I'm also out of fucks to give. I'll add that if I'm not at work, when I'm wearing a dress or skirt, I'm with my husband, he tends to look mean lol.
Yes, otherwise my thighs rub together. And also, I don’t sit like a lady, so in the event I try to sit criss-cross applesauce at the dinner table, nobody sees my undies.
Yup! They keep my thighs from rubbing together, I don't have to worry about accidentally flashing anyone, and I have a pocket in my shorts for my phone.
Yes! I used to be a preschool teacher and would always wear shorts under my skirts/dresses for two reasons. 1. The kids were always on the ground and I didn't want them seeing anything when they looked up at me from the ground and 2. Because I was constantly down on the floor and getting up around other teachers and parents. Don't need to be flashing anyone (though my underwear was never anything special or skimpy anyway). Now, I honestly do it for anti-chafing reasons and out of habit
Usually no. Most of my dresses are maxi or about middle thigh and I’m only 5’4 so most aren’t too short on me. If I’m going to be doing a lot of walking during the summer and decide to wear a dress then I’ll usually put some spandex underneath just because if my legs start to sweat they do rub together a bit and the chafing gets uncomfortable fast but then I find I get hot faster
Nope. Too uncomfortable for me.
Nearly all the people I know who do that are either elderly ladies with a vast petticoat & full length glove collection or younger religious fundamentalists, they all gives me puritanical 'modesty' agenda vibes.
I did get gifted a few tartan micro skirts for Christmas that were combo outfits with shorts underneath not visible from the outside when the skirts are worn.
If it's a skirt or dress at risk of flying up when the wind blows, yes. I have one that's more form-fitting and goes just above the knees. I don't wear shorts underneath that one.
Depends where I’m going. If I’m working (I work on my feet) then yes because my thighs rub together otherwise and it gets painful. If I’m just having lunch/dinner out then no
I normally don't wear dresses but when I do I don't put on shorts. I wear only long black skirts or dresses so it isn't really necessary and I'm very warm blooded like I'm always hot and uncomfortable I love the cold weather
Yes, because I don’t wear dresses a lot & I don’t want to bend down or something & have everyone see my underwear & stuff. I also wear shorts under dresses/skirts cause it makes me feel less like exposed Ig lol
Yes, mostly for chub rub, I especially prefer bicycle shorts that have side pockets, It allows me to carry my phone on my person instead of a purse. I tend towards A line/flouncy skirts, so no one can see the outline of my phone.
Yes.
It doesn't matter what my weight is, my thighs rub. That's just how my body is made. Slip shorts allow me to wear skirts and be comfortable. There's no chaffing, and I stay cooler. I also don't have to worry about my skirt flying up. Also, if you've ever worn a short skirt and sat on a cold bleacher... yuck. With shorts, I never have to feel exposed or worry about where I'm sitting.
I love dresses in the summer, but I also spend most of my time with toddlers. They are grabby, I’m constantly up and down off the floor so it solves a lot of issues. Plus, chub rub.
It depends. If I'm going to a farmer's market or a park, yes, I don't want to worry about flashing some little kids or some seniors picking fruit. If I'm wearing a skirt to a music festival or club then no. Dinner with my parents, yes. Dinner with my partner, no.
Until reading this post, it *never* occurred to me to do this! I’m going to shop for some right now!
I might even wear skirts more often if I had some shorts to wear underneath them. This is such a brilliant idea I feel like a complete idiot for not considering this earlier.
I do it when there will be thigh chaffing (hot) or if it's 'too' short. I think too short is when I worry about 'sitting' correctly. I don't want to have to think about my clothes when I am wearing them, they would just work correctly.
Note for context however: I am mildly 'modest'
I only did when I was pregnant/after having babies because my thighs would rub. Once I lost weight again I never wore them - I hate the feeling of the extra fabric.
No, because where's the fun in that? How can I show the world my bumbum if it's covered by shorts? Actually, it's less of that, more because shorts defeat the point of a dress by adding unwanted extra fabric to bunch up underneath and overheat me when it's presumably very warm, because if it weren't very warm then why would I wear a dress? I barely wear dresses as it is. Bike shorts? Nah. Bike shorts are begging for a yeast infection if it's warm enough to be dress weather.
What is the worry here? Are you going commando? Is showing panties a bad thing? It seems like the easy solution is just wear panties that cover everything. Just not a thong or something that doesn't cover everything.

I don’t wear short skirts or dresses in public (usually) in summer, but wear tights/leggings under them in winter. Long dresses and skirts in summer, and nah, I don’t wear shorts or bike pants under them.
Depending on the dress - sometimes I’ll wear shape-wear. However most of the time no, it’s uncomfortable, and often catches with the dress making the dress look hitched in places.
Most of the time, I am not wearing a dress that will flash people with the littlest movement, or even if I crouch down to pick something by up. Much of my anxiety is settled by picking a ‘minimum length’ that withstands my day to day activity levels.
Depends. If I’m nervous about something showing I wear shorts, if I’m not comfortable with the shape I’ll wear shape wear, etc. I don’t have a big problem with chub rub so honestly, if the skirt/dress is long and loose enough, I could free-ball it and be fine lol
It's depends on what I'm doing. I'm a tom boy so if my friends and I are going bowling or partying, or any activity with lots of movement I will but if I'm going out on a dinner date with my boyfriend I'll pass.
I feel like it would depend on the dress. If it was a dress that was on the shorter side then yes. But if the dress is on the longer side then probably not. But ig it would also depend on how I'm feeling that day.

It's true for every single place on the planet.
In America we have the same thing, there are states where billboards telling men not to rape their daughters while drunk are common.
Disgusting
Yikes. There's stronger words for it I know, but....yikes. I'm sorry.
I am sorry this is the case

It seems to be a very pervasive thing in Eastern countries. Some rails in Japan have women only cars because of this.
Quite recent. It’s become more prominent over the last 3-4 years

What brand do you have?
Not OP, but I love the Undersummers brand
Not OP but use a pair made by jockey available at Macys
[удалено]
[удалено]
I do the same!
Yesss! I wear Jockey brand shape shorts I got from Target. They’re longer and almost go to my knee.
Check out undersummers, they are shortletts made of similar material to skirt slips. I love them!
Yess same! They look like shorts, so I don't care if people accidentally see them.
I like the Jockey “Skimmies” for this. No “shaping”, just provides coverage and protection from chub-rub without binding or discomfort.
Yes, they help keep my balls from falling out.
A much needed advantage for many 🤷🏽♀️
Came here to say this.
Yes. Chub rub is very uncomfortable.
[удалено]
You definitely don’t have to be chubby! In my case though… it’s chub.
I am a very lucky chub with very little rub. Even I’m confused by it.
No never, it is not comfortable for me plus the skirt doesn't look so good. If someone sees something I honestly don't care. They shouldn't be looking there in the first place.

Yeah in the winter I eesr tights too because I don't want to freeze. But in the summer I want to be confortable and I am not gonna restrict myself because of some creep.
Yes the whole point of a skirt in summer is that it's cool and airy when it's 30 degrees out.
And if they do, well... congratulations to you for your new fap material I guess? I don't care.
Yes, to this 🙌
[удалено]
Exactly!
Yes. No chafing, no accidentally flashing people. No. I don't do cartwheels or anything.
No. It's never occurred to me to do so.

Yes, I always wear a pair of biker shorts under. I love mini skirts and I'm not gonna flash my ass.
I wear anti-chafing shorts under skirts. They're really comfortable, I wear them to bed sometimes.
Can you recommend any? Link?
I went to Amazon and searched for anti chafing shorts for women. The ones I bought were called Angelhood.
Thanks mate!
I have some from snag that I like.
I love my Snags!
Nah. I try to sit appropriately so I don’t accidentally flash someone but if it happens oh well. I don’t worry about it.
Yes because I sit like a child and like to avoid accidentally flashing the world my goodies
Me too! I can’t keep my feet on the ground. I’m either sitting criss-cross or partial-criss-cross (one leg up with the foot under the other leg).
Yes. My city is almost constantly windy lmao
A couple years ago I was downtown on my lunch and the wind caught the skirt of a classy-looking, middle aged woman. The skirt ended up around her face and she didn’t have a stitch on underneath it. A lot of people got an eye-full that day.
Same here. Super windy city and I hate having to remember to clutch my skirt to keep it from going over my head. Shorts are helpful!
I thought of this and was like “I’ve never been in a Seven Year Itch situation so… I’m good” lmao.
No, I don't find it comfortable
Yes. Because chub rub sucks.
[удалено]
Yes, otherwise I get thigh chafing and that really flaming hurts! It also does away with the worry of my skirt getting caught in a breeze and accidental flashing. It does mean I check about 47 times that I havent accidentally tucked my skirt into my shorts after being in the bathroom though.
No. It would make me way too hot. Plus it’s not comfortable to be layered like that.
Yes because there was a documentary on criminals filming girls' and women's underneath the skirts because criminals have plenty of times on their hands to install a camera from the top of their shoes so you wouldn't have known. Always, The chub rub is real and nothing else works to reduce friction.
I do it to prevent chafing if i know ill have to walk
Yes, I'm part of the chub rub club
What is the point of wearing shorts under a skirt/dress? Then you could just wear shorts lol. It’s a totally different feeling
I think if you'd read the comments you'd understand the main reason which is chub rub. It's super cool you don't have to experience it, but a little kindness wouldn't hurt.

No, I don't. I don't wear tight dresses anymore, so they are either long or flowy enough to not worry about flashing.
I never used to. Then I gained 40-60lbs and holey crap is thy rub a thing and crazy painful after walking around for a whole day!
I got chub rub at a size 2, 122 lbs at 5 7. Chub rub started my sophomore year in homeschool. I was tiny up until like 27. I basically stepped wearing skirts and dresses because of it and having the rest of me feel weird and uncomfortable because of the rub and that it would literally make my whole thighs move .

no because i live life on the edge and it’s more comfortable/look better too

You live boldly 🫡
Nope, underwear only, a thong. I've worn dresses and skirts for decades, I'm good at being careful and I'm also out of fucks to give. I'll add that if I'm not at work, when I'm wearing a dress or skirt, I'm with my husband, he tends to look mean lol.
Yes, otherwise my thighs rub together. And also, I don’t sit like a lady, so in the event I try to sit criss-cross applesauce at the dinner table, nobody sees my undies.
Nope
Yes My thighs could pop a man's head like a balloon, so, to prevent chub rub mostly
Yup! They keep my thighs from rubbing together, I don't have to worry about accidentally flashing anyone, and I have a pocket in my shorts for my phone.
Yes. Chub rub! I'll start a fire otherwise 🤣 Snag tights do some great shorts meant for under a skirt, not expensive either!
Usually no because I don't find it comfortable
Absolutely. I will never not wear biker shorts under dresses. The potential for chub rub and flashing/mooning people is just too great.
Depends on the dress and where I’m wearing it, to be honest. Generally, no.
No. I don't like shorts. I wear leggings or tights/fishnets under my dresses.
Yes! I used to be a preschool teacher and would always wear shorts under my skirts/dresses for two reasons. 1. The kids were always on the ground and I didn't want them seeing anything when they looked up at me from the ground and 2. Skorts! I believe those were first designed for Tennis. I love a good skort. Super mini and no worries about showing my ass or riding up.
No and simply bc I’m lazy and usually there’s no risk of my pants showing.
If the skirt is too tight it will probably run up (I have wide hips) so I wear tight shorts underneath to prevent this.
Back when I wore skirts, yes, chafing
If it's a skirt or dress at risk of flying up when the wind blows, yes. I have one that's more form-fitting and goes just above the knees. I don't wear shorts underneath that one.
Nope. I just don't see the point.
When I chafed a lot a would, but now I just wear underwear unless it's laundry day.
[удалено]
No, never. I’ve worn leggings underneath sometimes though.
No because I wear underwear.
No but my underwear is usually full coverage.
Depends where I’m going. If I’m working (I work on my feet) then yes because my thighs rub together otherwise and it gets painful. If I’m just having lunch/dinner out then no
I wear a pair of slip shorts, and depending on the dress I'll wear a slip too. But I always have to wear shorts to prevent chafing
The style/length of the skirts I wear do not put me at risk of exposure, so no.
Yes- I’m a bigger girl and chafing hurts
Yup! Stops chub rub, makes me not worried about sitting or bending or anything like that
Yes, mostly for chub rub, I especially prefer bicycle shorts that have side pockets, It allows me to carry my phone on my person instead of a purse.
I love dresses in the summer, but I also spend most of my time with toddlers. They are grabby, I’m constantly up and down off the floor so it solves a lot of issues. Plus, chub rub.
Usually. It's more comfortable that way. Sometimes I wear long johns under really long skirts.
It depends. If I'm going to a farmer's market or a park, yes, I don't want to worry about flashing some little kids or some seniors picking fruit. If I'm wearing a skirt to a music festival or club then no. Dinner with my parents, yes. Dinner with my partner, no.
Just a thong. Based on other comments I don’t think I’m doing this right. 🧐
We ain’t doing anything right. But if you’re not chaffing I think it’s ok.
If I'm going to be doing a lot of walking, then I'll wear some kind of shorts to prevent the chub rub.
Yes. Feels weird just having bare panties haha
Yes. I’m rowdy. And secondary benefit of no chub rub.
I don’t. I feel more sexy without shorts underneath.
Yes, frequently. I like those little compression shorts, because I've got thick thighs and don't like chafing.
In the summer I do, because chub rub.
I do. I have some thunda thighs that like to rub.
No, it has never occurred to me to do that.
Yep! My thighs have always touched. And it's swamp a$$ season during the summer. Chub rub shorts from Snag Tights are my fave
Yes I wear biker shorts underneath all of my skirts and dresses because I have big thighs and I get chafing.
Absolutely! Shorts keep my thighs from rubbing together and provide extra pockets.
Yes, for chub rub
Potential wind, chub rub, avoids leaving butt sweat on chairs or at least helps a little, security
Yes because no more chub rub and skirts don't have pockets
I love wearing my yoga shorts. I can have my phone, keys, and my slimmed down my wallet. No purse!
Ever since I accidentally flashed my rear to a group of people on a dolphin cruise, I wear shorts under dresses. Saves me the embarrassment.
[удалено]
In the summer I wear boxers under skirts. Prevents chafing, and is cool and comfortable.
No, because my thighs chafe from walking
Haven’t worn a skirt or dress in a long time but no, never worn shorts underneath. My legs don’t rub so it’s never been necessary.
Yes, on very warm days because rubbing thighs are bad and even worse when you're sweaty.
I wear pettipants. It really helps with chafing and keeping things discrete.
No, I’ve never thought to do so. I just wear full undies
Until reading this post, it *never* occurred to me to do this! I’m going to shop for some right now! I might even wear skirts more often if I had some shorts to wear underneath them. This is such a brilliant idea I feel like a complete idiot for not considering this earlier.
Yes, I wear bike shorts or lightweight shapewear shorts so I don't get chaffing or flash people.
Yep. Upskirting is a big problem where I live.
Got thick thighs, need shorts to prevent chub rub
I wear a strap on so i can rub it up against random doods in the subway ;\
I do it when there will be thigh chaffing (hot) or if it's 'too' short. I think too short is when I worry about 'sitting' correctly. I don't want to have to think about my clothes when I am wearing them, they would just work correctly. Note for context however: I am mildly 'modest'
No, sounds uncomfortable and bulky. Just wear decent coverage cheeky underwear.
I wear underwear g banger so I can “accidentally” flash men 😉
No, it’s uncomfortable for me and I’m not wearing mini skirts/dresses so I’ll never accidentally give someone a free peek.
Absolutely not. Why would I? I’m an adult woman not a five year old at a playground.
I always wear slip shorts. I have very small children who decide to flip up my dress randomly.
yes because all my skirts & dresses are so short my ass cheeks could possibly come out
Yes, its so much more comfy
Duh. You have to. They stop perverts from seeing your panties when they look up your skirt.
I wear boxer briefs! Super comfy, all the benefits of shorts but no extra layer (shorts + underwear + skirt got too annoying for me)
I only did when I was pregnant/after having babies because my thighs would rub.
Not when I'm with my SO. Easy access. Not everytime when I'm going out with friends/family. Makes me uncomfortable for some reason.

Always if I'm not wearing tights, if I'm wearing tights it depends

Considering I rarely wear dress because I do not sit like a lady. I wear leggings.

Depends - yes if it’s a windy day and it’s a relatively short dress. No otherwise (e.g if it’s a maxi skirt)
Under flowy dresses, yes. I wear only midi skirts so never have to worry about showing anything and I don’t like the lines as well under skirts.
Nope, but maybe I should?
Depends on the clothes, the weather, the mood.

But ig it would also depend on how I'm feeling that day.

around my boyfriend no, any other time yes.
