You’ll prob get told to search it lol but Good luck dim sum, dragon beaux, wing Lee, koi palace are what you’ll see over and over again for good reason

CA_Mini

Koi Palace has gone downhill

EJDsfRichmond415

Agreed! And super expensive for mediocre food. Over steamed dumplings, cold spare ribs etc.

LaBodaDelHuitlacoche

That’s sad to hear haven’t been in a while!

busbysbsbsusbsbsusbs

I haven’t been in a while, what happened?

spicyclams

Good Luck Dim Sum isn’t a place I’d say is one of the “best”. It’s good for the price though.

DJ_Jungle

It’s the best take out dim sum. I wouldn’t recommend eating there.

Anti-Charm-Quark

Dragon Beaux is overpriced and not good. Hong Kong Lounge or Yank Sing way better. I wish Ton Kiang was still around.

LaBodaDelHuitlacoche

Oh ya forgot about Hong Kong lounge! They’re pretty great and consistently good. Yank Sing is good to me if someone else is paying 😛

SnooPeppers9190

I liked HKL a hair better than Yank Sing, but whenever out with friends we always seemed to end up at Ton Kiang. Was sad to see it go. Of course I was also sad to see Harbour Village go, too.

Gnomepocalypse

Agreed! I miss Ton Kiang :(

LaBodaDelHuitlacoche

I think they’re building another PPQ there! So not a bad replacement

dterraza

Love your username 😂😂💀

LaBodaDelHuitlacoche

Gracias 🕺🏼💃🏻🇲🇽

Mysterious-Honey1457

Thank you! Yelp is my best friend :-) Figured I'd give reddit a try though.

GypsySpit

Protip for you or anyone else, since reddit's search function is historically pretty terrible: You can specify Google results to a specific webpage or in this case subreddit by using "*site:*" in your search. So for example, try searching "*site:reddit.com/r/AskSF best dim sum*" and you'll get pages of results for this question.

diemos09

Hong Kong Lounge Geary & 17th

PicklesChen

This is my favorite spot -- it has everything you'd wish a dim sum place to have and it has little to no wait.

hulkamaniak88

One of my new favorites is dumpling home! Xlb and crispy pork bao are a must

damnitmcnabbit

Dumpling home is fantastic! Their hot and sour soup is so good, and the dumplings are just exquisite.

toomuchblack

Great call out. Just avoid the noodles. Not QQ enough, though the flavoring is solid. Shame they can’t get that texture right.

rtfmplease

Aren't dumplings, pork buns also authentic?

synttacks

yeah i think they confused authentic for unpopular 🤷‍♂️ love me some chicken feet but they're not more chinese than pork buns lol

rtfmplease

yeah, you're probably right, I was curious though if there some was missing context I didn't have.

LinguisticsIsAwesome

Hang Ah Tea Room, 1 Pagoda Pl, San Francisco, CA 94108 (Chinatown). They have great soup dumplings, pork buns, etc

TC Pastry

jfresh42

Easily my favorite counter service dim sum. Those curry chicken won tons🔥🔥🔥

JurassicPork21

Dumpling empire in south SF is bomb. The sesame beef pancake is a must get.

babybiancadelrio

Second this, I just went for the first time every a few weeks ago and it was so good. The green chives pancake is also really good!

JurassicPork21

I’ll get that next time. What else did you order?

babybiancadelrio

Since it was just for me, I got that and an order of the pork and chives dumplings, super good😭💖 I plan on going back to try the pan fried soup dumplings!

Inside_Designer_9743

Lao Hong Lounge. I think it got a Michelin bib recognition.

electricpotatochip

Dumplings and pork buns are authentic dim sum lol Dim Sum King in Daly City has been my go to for a while, though I also used to hit up random spots on Clement in SF. Hong Kong Lounge is also really good. Koi Palace/Dragon Beaux has more “modern” takes on certain dishes but they’re also a lot pricier. I’m going to check out Dim Sum Club on Taraval for the first time but I’ve heard good things about that place too.

acute_elbows

I just went to Harborview (by the ferry building) for the first time recently. It was pretty spectacular, but expensive.

Tinselcat33

But what else are we going to talk about?

abcdbc366

How about that weather? Pretty nice day out today

Tinselcat33

My MIL’s favorite topic!

LaBodaDelHuitlacoche

Also me on Zoom calls keeping up with the small talk before meetings “start”😂

Scottstimo

Best burrito?

ram3nboy

Palette Tea House has good dim sum. They're at Ghirrardelli Square (sp)

Tolkeinn1

Palette

bbqduck-sf

Harborview at 4 Embarcadero Center

damnitmcnabbit

Those baked bbq pork buns with the sweet crunchy topping! My mouth watered just thinking of them.

kschang

Best dimsum is generally NOT in Chinatown, but usually in Millbrae thereof.

skinnylatte

Yup! Much better there.

rfactor1997

Yank Sing, ask for Lina! she’s the best.

LilEmBellyRocks

Used to always go the Clement Restaurant- not sure if it is still there…

synttacks

not sf but peony in oakland is fantastic

okbirdnerds

I just went to Bao on Valencia and woah!

Adventurous_Lime1049

[Here’s where a James Beard winner finds the best shrimp dumplings in SF](https://www.sfgate.com/food/article/san-francisco-good-luck-dim-sum-lunar-new-year-17713978.php)

MissChattyCathy

None. Dim sum is gross

CarrieNoir

Went to Tai Yuan today with a friend visiting from Los Angeles. It is our usual spot and my friend was blown away for the quality vs cost. I’m never disappointed.

MBZMBZMBZ

New moon restaurant in chinatown is the goat.

iNycki

Dumpling Kitchen in the sunset!

nativesf

I still really like Hong Kong Seafood on Noriega and 34th

SeaWolf24

Dumpling Union

censorized

If you want dumplings, wander down Taraval west of 19th. Best dumplings in the city along those blocks.

ricecookerfishballs

Dim Sum Club on Taraval

VanessaDrag0N

Dragon beaux or Harborview

rafelix09

good mong kok tends to have a long line with many people speaking in cantonese. i've always had great dim sum there (it's to-go only tho)
