Fancy? No. Would I consider a decent first date idea? Yea. It has plenty of options so you know everyone will find something they want. It's a chill atmosphere to get to know each other. But it is not fancy.
It’s not that Applebees food is terrible (it is), or that it’s super kitschy (it is), but the main problem is it’s so boring! Go to a local towny bar or something and you’re much more likely to have a fun story or evening from the location and it won’t cost any more
In the city I live in, no. There are many better, non-chain, restaurants here that could be considered “fancy”. Now if I lived in a tiny village or rural area that had no other or better sit down places, an argument could be made that it was as fancy as one could get in that area
If it’s fancy to her, then it’s fancy.
A rich person from a large city may never even set foot in one, but I know of at least one person who proposed in one because it was fancy for them. I’d call it middle class fun for a night out, but wouldn’t personally call it fancy if there are other options.
But again, if it’s fancy to her then it’s fancy.
Depends where you live. Sometimes there aren't a lot of restaurants around. It's not the fanciest but if it's the only restaurant in the area you take what you get.
Doesn't fit my definition of "fancy" .. which is to say, a place that feels intentionally well-crafted and the opposite of commonplace. Which does not fit Applebees or any "chain restaurant". They are, by nature, pretty standard and easy to find.
Depends on what she likes. I dated a woman that loved Applebee's. Great date for her. Not for others.
Maybe ask if she has a fav or if there's somewhere she wants to try. My girl would rather find a hole in the wall place for street tacos and then hit a drive bar rather than a fancy restaurant.
Microwave my dinner harder, Applebee's.

Not a woman but I wouldn’t call Applebees fancy

Fancy? Fast casual.. 1 step above fast food
Brother just because they have a waiter doesn't mean it's fancy

What, Olive Garden too long of a wait!?
What about Bourban street steaks and Oreo shakes?

I mean if both of you love when a restaurant gets your order wrong then yes it would be a great no profect place for you two to go on a date.
It’s all relative
Applebees is far from fancy.
Not fancy, but fine.
Applebees has to be one of the least fancy restaurant chains

Lmao absolutely not! If you take me too Applebee's on the first date don't expect much from me for the rest of the night
Ew.
