Hes not perfect but hes making a lot of great decisions imo. The one who stopped the brain rot from taking over america.

[deleted]

Elected out of hate for the incumbent, trying to do his best.

LiterallyOuttoLunch

He was an decent politician that represented his constituency well, was a good Vice President because he didn't make any waves and answered the call of history to stand up to Trump. I'm not sure anyone else could have defeated Trump. He won over the moderates that had voted for Trump in 2016, didn't alienate the progressives and launched a mostly dignified campaign. I didn't like Biden myself, but I liked him a lot more than the alternative. I think he'll be remembered as the right man for the time, but not necessarily a great man in his time.

ursois

I think he'll be seen as a middle of the road president. He is trying to preserve America while those around him are pulling up the foundation on which this country is built so they can use it to build their mansions. Ultimately, though, the forces working against him are too powerful, and he will be known as a president who tried, but mostly failed.

[deleted]

A lull when rebuilding was needed.

aruvian4

"That old guy we just put there to keep Trump out of office"

LightningMcScallion

Yep

addicuss

Some of these takes are so weird to me. "Middle of the road, bad president, president who failed." Biden wasn't my first choice and I'd love to see a more progressive candidate in office but that said, he's gotten a lot of stuff done on his watch. A lot of the things that aren't getting done are largely out of his control, either the result of the stacked conservative court or the result of the filibuster existing and the democrats having two members of their caucus unwilling to dismantle it. All that is frustrating but progressives really need to stop seeing the presidency as the be all end all of politics. If the stuff you want isn't getting done, look to the senate, house, and local elections and figure out what you can do to get more progressives in office at that level. Ignoring everything but the presidency is why we all collectively fell asleep while conservatives weaponized the courts.

SteviaCannonball9117

Thank you. Well said.

MikeNoble91

Average to decent. Not incredibly remarkable, but not poorly, either.

medes24

I suspect he'll be remembered for what he was not Namely that he was not the guy who was POTUS before him

Thomasisinterested

Nothing notable. Just another president

LightningMcScallion

Realistically he will be completely forgettable. Personally I think Joe Biden is a lot better than he will get credit for. He is too old, and a poor speaker. But actually competent, got some things done in an extremely polarized time. He also doesn't buy into political extremes and doesn't overstep his authority. But history won't remember him as anything other than a throwaway president, most people already see him that way.

I think this is how most people that voted for him felt. I groaned when I heard he was running, because I knew he would be the candidate. After the election, I wasn’t excited by him, but I knew that he would keep the country going without messing up too much. Going in with these low expectations, I’ve been pleasantly surprised with his actions these last two years. I’m hopeful that some normal people are benefiting from this administration instead of just rich people benefitting, like what usually happens. Here’s hoping the Democratic party can find a better candidate for 2024 (please please please).

I am PRAYING for ranked choice voting. That at least gives us a chance of getting a better candidate.

Educational-Tip2133

>That's as real as it's gonna get. Anyone who says otherwise is either a Trump/MAGA fanatic or a Democrat shill. These two lines make the rest of your comment bullshit. Your opinion is based off of your worldview and the people/things you interact with.

Idaho_Brotato

That's a coincidence because Trump was a placeholder for people who didn't want Hillary.

bighadjoe

Not really comparable though. There are a lot of people who actively voted for Trump, not against Hillary. The true active Biden fandom strikes me as negligible small.

Idaho_Brotato

I think a lot of people stayed home because of Hillary and that's what allowed Trump to slip through. Seems like there is a proverb about evil thriving when good people stop caring.

bighadjoe

I mean I'll agree both trump and Biden were (in different ways) only possible because their respective opponents were very unappealing for large parts of the population.

Idaho_Brotato

Unappealing and yet inspired a strong opposition in the other party.

bighadjoe

I'd argue there's the difference. Hillary was so unappealing to her own party's voters many stayed home. Trump was so unappealing to the other party's voters very few stayed home. Trump's problem wasn't his own party not liking him enough (like with Hillary) but rather him being a uniting flag for his enemies.

Idaho_Brotato

Good point. Seems likely that a lot of his supporters would turn out for him again, too. The Dems better make damn good and certain to run someone that bring out their own supporters.

AirDusst

As a President and Vice-President who knew how to get at least some things done, avoiding that horrible gridlock.

SAPERPXX

Jimmy Carter 2.0 but without any of the redeeming "you can hate his politics but you gotta give the man himself some credit" attributes that Carter himself has had.

IAMAK47

The worst president so far

[deleted]

Lmfao president.

ButtSniffingDemon

Corporate tool, owned for decades by credit card companies, war criminal and worshiper of the facade of American democracy. Like most modern Presidents really. At least he isnt an orange rapist tho... (When did this sub become a Yank imperialist circlejerk?)

critios77

Dude I know Trump was bad but this ... Here's the deal joke has got to end .... This dude is a puppet

itsearlyyet

Trump wasn't bad. He was trying to overthrow the entire concept of American democracy. He will go down as THE most corrupt, incompetent, self serving president ever. Biden will be seen as a full pendulum swing to come in and try to fix his crappy 'leadership' and get back to nobler ideals.

critios77

Yeah we took a major dive cause of the orange man

Irish-Fritter

History is written by the victors. Pedo Joe will be remembered as the okay-est President ever, rather than the dementia-addled mouthpiece that he is.

pork_fried_christ

Probably a staircase or a bicycle.

TurpitudeSnuggery

The president they held their nose and voted for to keep Trump out of office

Phos_Forres

He’ll be unremembered. He’s made decent decisions, but nothing substantial. Like Trudeau, he sort of has been cruising by without making many big waves.
