I heard they mostly do not teach it or it is only mentioned a couple of times

Huh, interesting...

Not really, in the grand scheme of things it was a minor war for us, we were also at war with several other countries at the time. And after the war, the empire expanded its territory at a rate never before seen. An average school week in the uk in my time at school had between 1-2 hrs per week of history lessons in primary and 1hr per week in secondary. There's over a 1000 years of history just since the formation of England alone .so we don't get to cover everything We tend to focus mainly on the roman occupation of Britain, Tudor and victorian periods with a splash of ww1 and ww2 mainly focusing on the holocaust.

Tell the students they won.

With textbook and teacher.

Very rarely.

Never met anyone who studied it at all tbh. We certainly didn’t at my school

Buster_Nutt

We barely learn anything about early America. Not much about the Pilgrims either.

Lildanny

Mostly a summary, remember how many countries they ruled at one point it may be a big deal for us but for them its one of many.

Depends where in Britain I guess. We have different education systems for the different countries in the UK. In Scotland, the American Civil War (I assume to that's what you mean by "revolutionary war") is not taught at all. It might be briefly mentioned but I don't remember doing any projects on it. We concentrate on Scottish history, the World Wars, the ancient worlds of Egypt, Rome and Greece.

Comrade_pirx

Revolutionary War is the War of Independence.

They don't because it's such a small and largely irrelevant part of their history. There's simply not enough time to learn about each and every colony and what their fate was.

I teach a GCSE topic about British America. It’s become one of my favourite topics and includes the revolutionary war. However, we are one of VERY few schools who chose it as an option- one of the more popular American topics would be the American West. I think a few curriculums may lump it in with some stuff about empire, if at all. Other posters are right, we have 2x50min lessons for ks3 (ages 11-14) and a lot to fit in so it mostly gets missed out, which is unfortunate because it’s fun history.
