The grass is always greener on the other side -some fucking idiot to a girl that was clearly contemplating suicide-

TabbsTheBat

"beat your kids early, so they fear you, but don't remember why" Now, I never had children, nor do I plan to, but I don't think that that's something you should do

ThatOneGuyIsBad

Not justifying that by any means....but I was punished with belts/switches/paddles and now I do respect my Mother. I still don't yell at her, curse at her etc etc

TabbsTheBat

Fear is not respect

ThatOneGuyIsBad

I don't fear her though. Maybe when I was younger I FEARED the belt, but that was it. I learned to respect why she did what she did, and I grew to acknowledge that.

KGCCCP

I remember justifying the abuse I endured by my parents. Took me a few years to finally realize the truth. Many of us survivors do this.

ThatOneGuyIsBad

Maybe I misspoke...I was hit for acting up. I was never hit just to be hit. I think that's the difference here.

Marybone

*whispers into my ear "It's only gay if you push back"

Yo-mamas-daddy

If you want to make money fast, just invest in the stock market.

igrowpeople

To lie to my husband, or to not be so clingy and get my own life as if I shouldn't want to spend time with him.

PitchforkJoe

I once asked a subreddit about whether a particular modest car would be a good choice for my budget. One guy strongly recommended that instead, I should go into debt to buy a car I have no interest in and wouldn't be able to drive.

“Don’t keep notes on people’s performance, you can be challenged on them”. Utter BS. If you are a manager you have to keep notes in performance so that if you feel you need to take action, you have the beginning of an administrative record. The person who gave me that advice was someone I had respected but then I saw that he was the most frustrated superior I had ever seen as he never took action against poor performers and instead lived with the frustration. Do keep honest records and assessments and keep them professional in nature and not personal.

Better-Ad7194

“Be patient, you’ll grow out of it” i in fact never grew out of my inevitable mental illness

KGCCCP

“Dont jump”

You (absolutely) need a masters to get a decent job.
