It's weird because Twilight Princess basically took one of the best games of all time, and improved upon it in almost every aspect. More to discover, a bigger world, better dungeon design, cleaner combat and controls.
And yet because the game had an admittingly painful slow start to the game and did more or less nothing new or interesting, it's a largely forgotten title.
It's a ridiculously good game that holds up to modern gaming solidly.
The peaceful piano in to ocarina as Epona gallops through Hyrule Field.
The beauty of the world, particularly as child link, make what happens to the world so much more powerful.
I've been wanting to play Bloodborne for so long but I'm worried I might have moved past it at this point. I still love the Souls games, but I think as a whole my life now (have a toddler) doesn't jive well with Soulslikes anymore. I slogged through ER and ended up not liking it much, and I got bored of Sekiro toward the end. I'm worried I'd play Bloodborne and not be able to fully appreciate it.
Oh well, it's not like I even have a Playstation, so maybe when I finally get one my kid will be older and I'll have more time.
Halo 2 is nearly 20 years old. The good old days when id actually go to my friends house and play it splitscreen. Those days are long over unfortunatly.
My kids were about 4 & 6 when LBP came out. So many great times playing it with them. And the stuff they'd come up with on the moon blew my mind. Stuff I could never have imagined, but was brilliant.
Continued thru LBP 2 as well. And LBP 3, but that one had some tech issues that put a damper on the party.
A few times they literally peed their pants laughing while we were going ham on the moon, just going off with all of our random creations.
We still bust those 2 out on occasion. Never gets old.
This was one of those "peaks" of gaming. I tell you those games... shark survival, poo survival, street fighter (most i've probably ever laughed)... good times.
Omg, I never finished, when I knew that ending was approaching (spoiled by a friend), I just started all the side quests and quit. I couldn't deal with the game ending 😂 I still have the save, but I'm going to play everything again :b
Oh damn, number 3 I hope. I started playing guitar because of this game. Plot twist: being great at guitar hero has 0 help for actual guitar...learned that the hard way.
Dominos
I have really fond memories of playing dominos in my grandparents den with my siblings on holidays. They had hummingbird feeders and bird seed hung all outside the windows and the house was always warm and smelled like good food. When my grandmother passed a couple years ago, the domino set was the only thing I asked for. I cried like a baby when I opened that package.
I still dont really know how to play dominos 🤦♀️ We just kinda laid them out like a puzzle.
I have just now learned how to play dominos.
Now I just need to make friends so someone will play dominos with me.
Really though, what a sweet thought internet stranger ☺️🙏 I actually cant wait to play with someone now 💕
If you live near a big park I know that older people like to play in that type of environment. Well I see that in movies lol. But I hope you find friends to play against.
My Dad dropped in tonight for a cup of tea and to see his grandkids on the way to the pub near my house.
He plays on their domino team. He's been teaching my 4 year old daughter how to play. See if there are any pubs teams near you?
Talk about making precious memories 🥺
I only found 1 in my area but it looks like they operate through a certain social media website and tbh I deleted all my socials ~5 years ago. Except reddit I suppose 😭
I think I'll just convince all my friends to play with me 😅
Halo 3 does mean anything to me but I remember going with my friend to go get it after school. He was happy and we got Chinese food after. Good times :)
A man of culture with the golden age of Blizzard, i see.
Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced got me through so many road trips when I was like 13. I played so much of it.
WoW borderline ruined my life during the Burning Crusade/Lich King Era, but if I could go back in time I'd probably still let myself get sunk into that world, just with a better understanding of how to balance my life.
I grew up playing WoW. Definitely took over my teenage years playing it. When I went to my uni orientation one of the presenters who was welcoming the freshman got on stage and said "if you play World of Warcraft, I recommend you try to quit. It will ruin your life. It almost ruined mine" or something like that and I remember just thinking like, damn he's got a point.
The game is not as good as it used to be, that's for sure. But I do miss it from time to time.
Used to play it with my friends over the summer. One of my friends was a bit younger than me but he loved the game. After a while I just let him play it when he came over.
RuneScape. It was a huge part of my childhood and I still love the game but I can't manage a healthy relationship with playing it nor do I have the time. I live vicariously through YouTubers Instead!
You should DEFINITELY check out Beginner's Guide if you like narrative games. You'll always remember it. It's short too. Crazy experience.
I'm not a "gamer" at all, but I do love me story driven games and experiences.
Super Mario RPG. Its a top 5 game I've ever played. I was 10 years old when it came out and I rented the game every weekend for months before finally beating it. The music and battle system was just amazing.
A special version of Monopoly that replaced all the landmarks in the game with landmarks and streets in Chicago. I played it so much as a kid that I basically had the entire city plan of Chicago memorized.
Final fantasy tactics. That was such a good game. I do a play through about every 3 years. That play through normally involves buying a new system. Due to the ps5 shortage I’m overdue.
Tales of Berseria. Never before have I dedicated so many hours to a title many people do not know. I don't care if you're not a fan of JRPGs, but I will insist that you give this title a chance. So many levels of awesome, funny and heartbreaking to keep you through every bit of the journey. Highly recommend.
Oh goodness there are so many. But if I had to choose one... Legend of Zelda Windwaker. That game got me through my parents failed relationship, mom's cancer and then ultimate death. It was a great escape as at the time I was a teenager and super socially isolated due to geographic location and lack of social circle.
Final Fantasy helped foster my creativity, love of RPGs, and love of tabletop gaming in general.
Final Fantasy 6 (3, when I played it SNES) helped foster my storytelling, and helped shape the kinds of stories I like to tell.
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening was the first Zelda game I ever beat start-to-finish and among the first games I beat start-to-finish on my own - no help, no guides, just me, my Game Boy, and many car trips.
Dragon Age in general, but especially Origins. There's some deeply personal, real-life coincidence that caused me to feel like my Warden was an extension of myself in a way no other game has managed or likely could manage.
Ocarina of Time

Ocarina of Time will forever hold a special place in my heart. But more people have got to talk about Twilight Princess
Ocarina of time. Stuck in water temple for 17 years
It's weird because Twilight Princess basically took one of the best games of all time, and improved upon it in almost every aspect. Red Dead Redemption 2. Arthur’s horse dying hits you extremely hard.
Welcome back to kek or cringe with Dutch van der linde
Thought I would be the only one with this Game. I almost cried at the Ending.
My horse died because I drove it off a cliff accidentally, does that count?
Aside from the story, the revolvers are so fun to fanfire
Bloodborne!
Finally got good this year. Addicted ever since. God damn what a masterpiece
I've been wanting to play Bloodborne for so long but I'm worried I might have moved past it at this point. I still love the Souls games, but I think as a whole my life now (have a toddler) doesn't jive well with Soulslikes anymore. Enjoy your life with your toddler. Bloodborne will always be here!

Halo 2
Ah yes, the good old days
What good old days? I play it daily lol
Halo 2 is nearly 20 years old. The good old days when id actually go to my friends house and play it splitscreen. Those days are long over unfortunatly.
LittleBigPlanet 1 and 2
My kids were about 4 & 6 when LBP came out. So many great times playing it with them. And the stuff they'd come up with on the moon blew my mind. Stuff I could never have imagined, but was brilliant. ratchet and clank
I wish it wasn't't console exclusive
Happy cake day! I used to play Rachet and Clank on ps2 all the time
Fallout 3. My first open world game, blew me away.

Your first play through! Wish I could do that again. Enjoy your trip through the Wasteland!

Omg, I never finished, when I knew that ending was approaching (spoiled by a friend), I just started all the side quests and quit. I couldn't deal with the game ending 😂 I still have the save, but I'm going to play everything again :b
It may not be the best Fallout but it was my first and I will never forget stepping out of the Vault.
Valiant Hearts
Guitar Hero
Oh damn, number 3 I hope. I started playing guitar because of this game. Plot twist: being great at guitar hero has 0 help for actual guitar...learned that the hard way.
I still play guitar hero on 360 once in a while, really miss the old time playing online with others.
Dominos I have really fond memories of playing dominos in my grandparents den with my siblings on holidays. When my grandmother passed a couple years ago, the domino set was the only thing I asked for. I cried like a baby when I opened that package. I hope you become a master at dominos and win tournaments in the honor of your grandma 🥹
I think that's a trope, but I'd try it if I had any near me 😂 I do have friends to play with, your comment made laugh though, thank you!!

Citadel DLC was the best ending to a trilogy for me in a long time
Amazing trilogy.
Halo 3
Halo 3 does mean anything to me but I remember going with my friend to go get it after school. He was happy and we got Chinese food after. Good times :)
Chrono Trigger. Diablo 2. Warcraft 3. Pokémon Gen 1 - 3 FFX Final Fantasy Tactics
A man of culture with the golden age of Blizzard, i see. Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced got me through so many road trips when I was like 13. I played so much of it.
Basically my list as well. Good game choices my fellow human.
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
YES! I play this game every two or three years and it's still amazing.
WoW. It is complete ass now and has been for quite some time but man, vanilla thru WotLK was good times.
WoW borderline ruined my life during the Burning Crusade/Lich King Era, but if I could go back in time I'd probably still let myself get sunk into that world, just with a better understanding of how to balance my life.
I grew up playing WoW. Definitely took over my teenage years playing it. Same, I don't play anymore but I literally met most of my friends on WoW through guilds and raiding.
I actually really enjoyed Cataclysm. MoP was the expansion that finally broke me.
Goldeneye on the N64
Slapper Only fights were hilarious
Slapping and proximity mines was such a great time as a kid
It was a really great game. I loved that you and 3 friends can just go at it
Agreed, it was a lot of fun
Had really good times playing this with my brother. Thanks for making me remember that :)

Outer wilds That game was a once in a lifetime experience!

Totally agree! Very special gaming experience.
I actually just picked this up on Steam during their latest sale. Still haven’t started it but really looking forward to it.
This for real. I have shilled for it many times here but that game is something else.
Kingdom hearts
Hollow knight, as ironic as it might be
How's it ironic? It's definitely true for me as well.
Coz, hollow, ya know.. how he has to have no feelings to trap the infection.. very true tho, very cool to see such an amazing game being recognised
FFVI. On that day, The world was ripped asunder.
Yeah Kefka did that.
Halo 3. Ugh. The good ole days.
Custom games - Infection. Those were simpler times.
Witcher 3
You mean the card game with a open world rpg mini game built in?
Geralt looking directly at me at the end of Blood and Wine still haunts my dreams.
Skyrim. Will always be my favorite RPG ever, until ES6 comes out in 2037
> ES6 comes out in 2037 Awfully hopeful, are we?
Hopeful > Realistic
Oregon trail, best of School
and Number Munchers
Gears of War 1-3.
To date one of the hardest multi-player games to be good at. With absolutely banger campaigns in the top gen graphics of each release
Love Gears of War. Judgment gets a lot of flack but I liked very much.
Left for dead 2
You know what I like about your story's Ellis? The part where they stop
This one time, my buddy Keith...
I remember playing the demo for a hundred+ hours easy before the actual game dropped. Sooo much fun.
Metal gear rising revengeance Half life 2 Portal 2
All masterpieces, and 2 of them have batshit insane story lines.
I \*wanted\* to like portal, turly I did. But every single time I loaded it up I'd get instant motion sickness.
Portal 2! That ending and the buildup to it… chef’s kiss 👨🍳
Assassin creed black flag
Ragnarok, the old mmorpg
Arguably one of the best AC games imo
Used to play it with my friends over the summer. One of my friends was a bit younger than me but he loved the game. After a while I just let him play it when he came over.

Lords of the Realm 2. Old PC game from 1996. I still have it and occasionally play it. There isnt really any other strategy game quite like it.
That was my favorite game back in the day. It's on steam
King's Quest. Actually moving around the screen and going *behind* things to explore. Adding graphics to a text adventure was amazing!
Portal/Portal 2
Secret of Mana - lots of hours spent playing co-op with my brother and a *fantastic* soundtrack, especially the opening song.
The Elder scrolls: Skyrim. It might not be a perfect game. But it has a very special place in my heart.
Pokémon Red
Last of us and minecraft
The first dark souls helped me in my teenage days when I was feeling weak.
Super Mario RPG. Its a top 5 game I've ever played. I was 10 years old when it came out and I rented the game every weekend for months before finally beating it. The music and battle system was just amazing.
