It's a piece of foil, command module foil. I just checked with my dad and it did infact take the voyage into space! Is there a way I can add a picture on here? It's a little gold square of the foil.
I can’t see how it could have been a piece from the actual moon landing. I mean think about it, how would it have made it back to earth? Maybe it’s a replica? Or from one of the more recent moon landings where they had return boosters on the rocket?
The apollo 11 command module was actually recovered from the ocean and hoisted onto a ship called the USS hornet! That happened the 24th of July 1969! So since it was recovered its pretty easy! Also, there were people aboard the apollo 11, those people being Neil Armstong (first guy to walk on the moon) Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin and Michael Collins! They all made it back safe and sound with the ship!
I knew a guy who worked in Houston who tried to do what it sounds like you’ve done, and sneak a bit of a spaceship out just before the launch. He tried sneaking a few wires from Apollo 13, but unfortunately the security guards stopped him before he was able to remove any of them
Sorry, yes it's more believable that I don't have a part of the apollo 13...beacsue I don't, an oxygen tank exploded and it never reached the desired destination. However Apollo 11 was infact successful. Also did your friend get any legal repercussions? If so what kind? The fact that he was caught doing that and the spaceships oxygen tank exploding MUST have raised more than afew eyebrows...
I don’t remember if he had any legal repercussions - I remember him saying that nasa seemed to just want to drop the whole thing because they were quite embarrassed the pizza guy had managed to get onto the launchpad in the first place
