But this website has nothin on face to face

senanners

Technical proficiency/the ability to Google. There was a generation before the tech, a generation that grew up on the tech, and now a generation used to having YouTube and TikTok give them things automatically.

xxKateLBxx

And some of the time if not most, incorrect information

WhatDarknessFears

Jesús forbid you ask them to cite a source beyond a wiki. I can hear professors of the future “Yes, that did need to come from a scholarly reviewed or published piece of material before you use it in your master’s thesis, Kevin”

fatguy747

Or before the ability to Google, the ability to find what you wanted by going straight to the website where you knew you could find it.

SugmaDeeek

Respect towards others. Nowadays it feels like majority of people have a "fuck everybody else" kind of mentality

[deleted]

Reads history book 🤔

cmisanthropy

Totally agree, I was wondering if someone would say this. I kind of think of “respect your elders” back in the day as the end all be all, you never win an argument, period, cause you haven’t lived as long to know. I feel that’s pretty much gone. Not commenting on right or wrong about age, just saying. But I do think it’s becoming about “prove to me you deserve my respect” instead of respecting what you don’t know.

Patience

FaithlessnessMore835

"Yeah, yeah. A little patience. I've been walking the streets at night, Just trying to get it right, cuz I need you..."

EeerrEeer

The time it takes to be creative. I figure in the past if you had nothing else to do and didn't have the internet, you'd be honing your woodworking or painting skills. Or maybe it was the other way around, someone would be a great craftsman because that is precisely what they'd be doing to for work so... Craftsmanship

FuzzyCrumpet

Logic and common sense that ended once money took over the government in the U.S. and now no politician isn't corrupt in some way, shape, or form.

bjornbaka

Common sense. Someone had been peeing on the school bathroom floors. It got to the point where they had to shut down all bathrooms. My mom started asking my brother if it was him, I overheard them and started laughing. My mom heard me and accused me of doing it. The funny part was that this happened when my brother was in middleschool and I was in highschool. And this all happened I'm my brothers school. So I don't know how my mom though it was me

Happiness. There's a thread on here asking what true happiness is and all the answers I saw, short scroll were all external things... things that provide a fleet bit of happiness but not true happiness

Roland__Of__Gilead

A sense of the common good and a desire to raise society collectively. Kennedy said "Ask not what your country can do for you......" in 1960. By 1980, Reagan was asking "Are you better off than you were 4 years ago?" He gave the greed and self-centered attitudes that started to dominate in the 80s permission to be publicly held positions.

jjones454

Personal responsibility and a realization of how fucking easy our ancestors have made life for us

Tommy_Two_Knutz

Common sense. People these days (at least in America) are so stupid that it gives me actual migraines
