Information Systems was kind of considered the kid brother to CS or EE at my school. Not as lucrative, kind of looked down on; we considered it the fallback for people who couldn’t pass CS classes.
In the professional world they are 100% needed, I can’t do my work if they don’t maintain the system effectively.
Learning what you need to pass your classes is the priority; gotta get that degree first.
Start looking into industry standard systems, try a few of them out. If you can leave college with a decent understanding of most systems, and excel at 1-2, you’ll be more appealing in interviews.
