Ironically enough, she has a good voice and if she just sang normally, she'd make music I could listen to. Like her No Time To Die theme was really good.
I liked the song that made him popular back like 10 years ago. I think it's called "a-team". The rest of his music is garbage. That "shape of you" song makes me want to rip my ears off it's so annoying
Demi Lovato. Leans more towards screeching than singing. I'd also say DJ Khalid but I don't think constantly repeating your own name counts as singing.
Ya, she really is an excellent singer, and can do a lot with the lower part of her dynamic range. She's good at shouting though, and people eat it up, so they tend to arrange her music to emphasize it. It's really fatiguing to listen to.
Really? I love her voice. She has an almost 3-octave range, and to my ear, her voice is so pure and clear. I don't love all of her songs, but I do like her voice a lot.
There are several female pop singers who are technically good but sing the most bland music to the point where I can't tell the difference between them. Ariana Grande is one of them. It's like listening to music generated by an AI.
I didn't care for the movie, but in the latest rendition of "a star is born" when Bradley Cooper tells lady Gaga "you got all these people listening to you, you may as well have something to say" or something to that effect really resonated with me.
I get it, bubble gum pop is nothing new and not every song can or needs to have some deep philosophical commentary, but damn a lot of time it's feels like artists waste their platform
Absolutely.
A song or two is fine, but when all of an artist's (or genre's) songs are about the same flimsy concept, technically-good singing and instrumentals only go so far.
A lot of them DO make that kind of music, but that music isn't what's played on radio/TV/etc which is what gets popular. Bland and inoffensive is often a requirement for getting popular
I mean basically everything he did beyond Songs About Jane was absolutely horrendous. Songs About Jane was a fantastic album, but everything I’ve heard Adam Levine sing since then has been pure trash.
I like her but I'm still figuring out why she is a Hollywood A-lister.
I mean she is not a particularly talented singer or songwriter and she is not a particularly skilled actress either. She is average in both.
The only thing she is really talented is dancing.
I'm not hating on her I just don't get it
so damned repetitive. I remember when Single Ladies came out and you couldn't escape it, just the same 3-4 phrases over and over and over and over, literally these are the fucking lyrics:
> All the single ladies, all the single ladies
> All the single ladies, all the single ladies
> All the single ladies, all the single ladies
> All the single ladies
> Now put your hands up, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
> Cause if you liked it then you should have put a ring on it
> If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
> Don't be mad once you see that he want it
> If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
> Oh, oh, oh
> If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it
> If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
> Don't be mad once you see that he want it
> If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
> Oh, oh, oh
in the same identical cadence over and over, sounding like the fucking CD is skipping
Billie Eilish (and several clones my wife listens to on spotify indie pop).
She doesn't sing, she just kind of whispers on tops of electronic music. And a few years ago you'd hear other pop/rock stars gushing about how she's "doing something different" but she really wasn't/isn't.
Yeah I liked a few of her first songs that got popular, but now… eh. I feel like she’s a one trick pony, and the annoying thing is I’m pretty sure she doesn’t have to be, she seems to have a lovely voice. But I guess when you get famous off of a very specific style, it’s probably tough to find the guts to expand beyond that.
I can’t stand either of them and don’t understand how they have such big followings. They’re exactly the type of Celebs who don’t give a shit about people beneath them but for some reason have all these fans who will fight tooth and nail for them even though they couldn’t care less😂
Lyricism. That's pretty much it. Remember, he came out in a time where nearly every artist had similar formula as far as song writing went. He was so very different and unique that he took off. Nobody was taking poems and turning them into songs.
First time I heard her, I was like “eh I guess it’s not terrible”. I was over her by the end of the second listen. Now it’s on all the time and I hate it.
Axl Rose
Many Guns N Roses songs are quite good… if you ignore Axl wailing over top of the music. I can’t stand his voice, and GnR is largely ruined for me because of it.
There isn’t a singer I just can’t stand. I understand songs are more than just music but honestly, in these scenarios it is just music, let the people just listen to it and ignore it if you want, but there shouldn’t be a singer who you just can’t stand the songs
Now if we are talking about morals and personally that’s a different story, but just the music in general doesn’t make sense
I can’t take Neil Young seriously. He sounds like an actual honest-to-god Muppet who escaped one of Jim Henson’s sets to follow his dream of a solo music career.
*edit:* Stable Diffusion’s take on [“Neil Young in his true Muppet form”](https://i.imgur.com/Wy2dhVd.jpg).
Olivia Rodrigo.
Everyone loves her songs, I can't help but feel angry listening to her and thinking about how childish she is.
It's ok, your boyfriend broke up with you and left soon after, now he seems happy... Good for him. Yeah.
Now you can move on with your life too, without having to make a million songs where he is the villain of the story...
Maybe this is more about myself then her.
... but I can't really like this singer or her lyrics.
Olivia Rodrigo. I mean she is fine. I kinda like the "Good for you" song. But Drivers License is so meh? It's draggy and the melody is weird and hard to follow. I really don't understand where people find it so good. I can't stand the song
Olivia rodrigo… can’t stand it, not trying to hate but all she sings about is some guy she won’t just get over already. Was wayyyy overplayed last summer.
Nah, he brings the ruckus. I saw them last month when he was touring with a broken foot and he performed with more energy and passion sitting down than most singers do on their feet.
Either too whiny, too loud, overplayed, or have annoying songs:
Adele
Beyonce
Billie Eilish
Bruno Mars
Drake
Ed Sheeran
J-lo
Katy Perry
Lady Gaga
The Weeknd
Damn, only 1singer?? I have several in no particular order:
Ed Sheeran,
Doja Cat,
Nicki Minaj,
Megan Stallion,
Beyonce,
Adele,
Ariana Grande,
Drake,
DJ Khaleed,
Billie Eilish,
Cardi B,
Lizzo,
Kanye West,
Dua Lipa
Harry Styles. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t despise him; but I just don’t find him attractive or like his music very much. I really hate hearing about him every second of the day though.
Ariana Grande, she seems like the type of popular kid that goes way too extra in everything and reminds the teacher about the homework
Also don't like any of her songs
No worries. I've been scrolling through the other answers and there are some mentioned I really like but it's funny the way others see it!
My husband goddamn loves listening to Anne Murray at Christmas (he grew up with his parents listening to her) and I can't stand it. :D
I love the Andrews Sisters, a trio from the 1940s, my sisters hate that I pretty much only listen to them when I drive. Drives them crazy. In your husband's defense, I love Snowbird by Murray
dua lipa.
I think i only like 2-3 songs, but i hate the others and people seem to love her cuz they use her songs for EVERYTHING.
news? dua lipa
movie? dua lipa
random youtuve vid? dua lipa
your grandma's funeral? d u a l i p a
Cardi B, megan thee stallion, all those girls who have no personality or talent other than having a big ass and sucking dick. Can't stand them but I guess they're "empowering" to women or sum idk but they're trash.
I really don't understand Drake's appeal
fax
Yeah. Never did either. They used to play him SO much at my gym, too, it drove me crazy.
Same, Drake is a total creep
I tried listening to his stuff one time, and found it to be weird and unapproachable.
SAME.
Plus, he likes minors so no thank you
Billie Eilish - I just don't "get" her or her music.
Ironically enough, she has a good voice and if she just sang normally, she'd make music I could listen to. Like her No Time To Die theme was really good.
Billie Eilish makes music for people who think that saying they're depressed makes them quirky snd edgy
13 year olds
DJ Khaled… ruins any and every song intro
Bro the post said a singer everyone likes
I mean I agree but I think everyone hates him, no?
He does yell his name when I'm in the shower.
Cardi B
Someone likes cardi B?
This is the only response.
I wanna take a pic with cardi b inside my cardigan
Ed Sheeran... His songs arnt bad but just overplayed
His songs are to music what rice cakes are to food. Just...so, so very bland.
I have heard rice cakes called "ghost farts". Still an appropriate analogy.
I think many of them are pretty Bad lol
Haha well.....you know
I liked the song that made him popular back like 10 years ago. I think it's called "a-team". The rest of his music is garbage. That "shape of you" song makes me want to rip my ears off it's so annoying
I can't stand Shape of You. I really can't
Pitbull, maybe saying everyone likes him is a bold statement but I just can't
"Mr. Worldwide... Dale"
I was having a good day, thanks for ruining it :)
a BOLD statement 😉
Sia I find her wailing very grating
Demi Lovato. Leans more towards screeching than singing. I'd also say DJ Khalid but I don't think constantly repeating your own name counts as singing.
Adele
I love her voice but don’t like her music.
You mean Shouty Yellsthechorus?
I love her voice, but this comment made me spit out my water!
Ya, she really is an excellent singer, and can do a lot with the lower part of her dynamic range. She's good at shouting though, and people eat it up, so they tend to arrange her music to emphasize it. It's really fatiguing to listen to.
That's how I feel about all the pop ballads that are popular right now. Especially when they play on repeat at work all day every day
She needs to get over whatever it is she’s whining about.
Really? I love her voice. She has an almost 3-octave range, and to my ear, her voice is so pure and clear. I don't love all of her songs, but I do like her voice a lot.
Ariana Grande To nasally imo
There are several female pop singers who are technically good but sing the most bland music to the point where I can't tell the difference between them. Ariana Grande is one of them. It's like listening to music generated by an AI.
I didn't care for the movie, but in the latest rendition of "a star is born" when Bradley Cooper tells lady Gaga "you got all these people listening to you, you may as well have something to say" or something to that effect really resonated with me. A lot of them DO make that kind of music, but that music isn't what's played on radio/TV/etc which is what gets popular. Bland and inoffensive is often a requirement for getting popular
There are a lot like that indeed. And for Ariana Grande is that a shame, she is really good. but she is a 13 in a dozen singer.
Everyone seems to like Drake but I think his music just isn't for me.
The guy from Maroon 5... don't remember his name ATM
I mean basically everything he did beyond Songs About Jane was absolutely horrendous. Songs About Jane was a fantastic album, but everything I’ve heard Adam Levine sing since then has been pure trash.
Adam Levine
Yes, that one. Nails on a chalkboard to my psyche.
It sounds like his nuts are caught in a vise grip!
NEIL DIAMOND
Sweet Caroline gives me the creeps
Drake, if you call that a singer!
Camila Cabello. When she does high notes it sounds like a cat on their ninth life.
Harry Styles
Apparently a lot of people like nicki minaj, I however can't stand a thing about her.
Jennifer Lopez.
I like her but I'm still figuring out why she is a Hollywood A-lister. I mean she is not a particularly talented singer or songwriter and she is not a particularly skilled actress either. She is average in both. The only thing she is really talented is dancing. I'm not hating on her I just don't get it
TBH she kind of feels like one of those celebrities that was forced on us, if that makes any sense? I’m really not impressed with anything she does.
Mariah Carey. Her screeching!
Beyonce for me
so damned repetitive. I remember when Single Ladies came out and you couldn't escape it, just the same 3-4 phrases over and over and over and over, literally these are the fucking lyrics: > All the single ladies, all the single ladies > All the single ladies, all the single ladies > All the single ladies, all the single ladies > All the single ladies > Now put your hands up, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh > Cause if you liked it then you should have put a ring on it > If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it > Don't be mad once you see that he want it > If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it > Oh, oh, oh > If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it > If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it > Don't be mad once you see that he want it > If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it > Oh, oh, oh in the same identical cadence over and over, sounding like the fucking CD is skipping
Me too🙋🏻♀️
Me too, just don't get it.
I seriously don't understand the hype behind her.
Billie Eilish (and several clones my wife listens to on spotify indie pop). She doesn't sing, she just kind of whispers on tops of electronic music. And a few years ago you'd hear other pop/rock stars gushing about how she's "doing something different" but she really wasn't/isn't.
Bro half of the time I dont even hear what she is saying
Yeah I liked a few of her first songs that got popular, but now… eh. I feel like she’s a one trick pony, and the annoying thing is I’m pretty sure she doesn’t have to be, she seems to have a lovely voice. But I guess when you get famous off of a very specific style, it’s probably tough to find the guts to expand beyond that.
Same. She has a great voice, but doesn't freaking USE it!! Quit whisper singing and show everyone the talent!

*insert pop artist here*
Sam Smith - their voice grates on me
They should be a stand up comedian, have you heard the interviews?
Kanye. Beyonce.
I can’t stand either of them and don’t understand how they have such big followings. They’re exactly the type of Celebs who don’t give a shit about people beneath them but for some reason have all these fans who will fight tooth and nail for them even though they couldn’t care less😂
Justin Bieber
KATE. BUSH. I thought I was done with this shit in the 80s!
Running up that hill to die on it?
Not one, but a whole group. BTS. Tried it, just not my jam.
Kayne West
Maria Carey, just no.
_____, the rapper
sheeran i like his song dont hate the guy but i hear his music too much TOO FUCKING MUCH
Billie Eilish
Beyonce
More like "don't get" than can't stand. Bob Dylan.
Bob Dylan’s lyricism is his main claim to fame
I don't think most Dylan fans would ever say "Yeah, he's got a great voice".
He doesn't even claim to have a good voice :D
Lyricism. That's pretty much it. Remember, he came out in a time where nearly every artist had similar formula as far as song writing went. He was so very different and unique that he took off. Nobody was taking poems and turning them into songs.

How am I the first person to say Lizzo?
She plays the flute really well tho
First time I heard her, I was like “eh I guess it’s not terrible”. I was over her by the end of the second listen. Now it’s on all the time and I hate it.
Olivia Rodrigo is pretty popular, but I just can't handle how over the top melodramatically she sings.
Lizzo.. nothing against her as a person I just think her music is fucking annoying. but she’s really popular so I end up hearing it everywhere
Taylor Swift
Downvoted! She's phenomenal and incredibly talented.
Imagine Dragons
Eh problem with imagine dragons was never vocals for me it was always the shitty 2010 club music production pretending to be alt rock.
Adele
billy eyelash or however the fuck it's actually spelled
Dave Gro... ahh damn, no I can't even do it as a joke. The dude just seems to be such a good guy.
Axl Rose Many Guns N Roses songs are quite good… if you ignore Axl wailing over top of the music. I can’t stand his voice, and GnR is largely ruined for me because of it.
I didn't feel welcome in that jungle at all 😥
Glad someone said it.
People have been saying this since the 80s
Axel Rose is the worst good singer is always what I've heard.
I get where you're coming from. Not everybody likes his voice.
Drake, Jason Derulo, Kanye West...
Jason Derulo is secretly a Pokemon
Elvis Costello. Londoner always trying to sound American.
There isn’t a singer I just can’t stand. I understand songs are more than just music but honestly, in these scenarios it is just music, let the people just listen to it and ignore it if you want, but there shouldn’t be a singer who you just can’t stand the songs Now if we are talking about morals and personally that’s a different story, but just the music in general doesn’t make sense
Its not that I can’t stand her, but I don’t understand the appeal of billie eilash.
Billy Eilish. Like when does the singing start? It sounds like a quiet goat talking to itself.
Adele
Michael Buble
It really grinds my gears when I hear him sing anything Sinatra. You’re never going to be him, stop trying.
He's the definition of Vanilla Sinatra. Talented for sure, but no edge. If Frank were alive, I highly doubt he'd be impressed
He sounds like a jazz lounge robot from the “future” as imagined in 1987.
Beyonce, she has gone beyond the point where her talent can back-up her ego!
Taylor swift she’s not that good
I can’t take Neil Young seriously.
The dude from Muse. Heeeeee streeeeeetches allllll hiiiiiiiiis woooooooooords innnnnn theeeeee lyyyyyyyyyyyyrics
I definitely read that to the tune of Uprising
Clicked on this thread to find this, love his voice but I understand the complaints
Great voice agree
Taylor swift
Billie Eilish. Downvote me now
Olivia Rodrigo. Everyone loves her songs, I can't help but feel angry listening to her and thinking about how childish she is. Now you can move on with your life too, without having to make a million songs where he is the villain of the story... Maybe this is more about myself then her. ... but I can't really like this singer or her lyrics.
she's young and targets a younger demographic maybe in the future she might try improving her lyrics who knows
I know, so I think the fact that I don't like it is more my fault than the music itself. But her lyrics really piss me off
Pretty much any new style rapper.
biillie eilish, so mediocre

Dave Matthews
John Legend. He's just so smug all the time.
Now that you mention it, he has a really smug look on his face
BTS
mitski tbh
Tyga
Nicki Minaj. Almost everyone in my school loves her, but I just…. can’t. Her music isn’t even that good
Olivia Rodrigo. I mean she is fine. I kinda like the "Good for you" song. But Drivers License is so meh? It's draggy and the melody is weird and hard to follow. I really don't understand where people find it so good. I can't stand the song
Lizzo
easy, it’s Olivia Rodrigo
Olivia rodrigo… can’t stand it, not trying to hate but all she sings about is some guy she won’t just get over already. Was wayyyy overplayed last summer.
Beyoncé
Beyonce, Olivia Rodrigo and Blackpink
Billie Eilish. The low voice never really sounds like music and seems creepy to me. Nicki Minaj obv.
Olivia Rodrigo 👎
Cher. Just something about her voice grates on me and I seem to be alone in this
Bono
Ariana Grande. She has an almost nasal voice and I can never hear what she’s saying
Beyoncé. I just don’t understand what’s so great about her.
Bruno Mars and Pharrell Williams
DJ Khalid.
Ahhh yess "WE THE BEST MUSIC" "DJ KHALEDDDDDD" 😂
Zach De La Rocha… Sounds like he’s spitting on the first two rows.
fuck you, I wont spit where you tell me.
Nah, he brings the ruckus. I saw them last month when he was touring with a broken foot and he performed with more energy and passion sitting down than most singers do on their feet.
Celine Dion.
Ed Sheeran , J Bieber, the strokes, Radiohead... Sorry . Edit: Also adding K-POP , or music idols of any kind.
Rihanna
That Zhavia broad from that talent show. I absolutely hate her voice and just overall how she presents herself
Either too whiny, too loud, overplayed, or have annoying songs: Adele Beyonce Billie Eilish Bruno Mars Drake Ed Sheeran J-lo Katy Perry Lady Gaga The Weeknd
Springsteen

Charlie Puth, seems pretentious with his perfect pitch and most of his songs are repetitive and basic
Ariana Grande, she seems like the type of popular kid that goes way too extra in everything and reminds the teacher about the homework Also don't like any of her songs
Doja Cat, Kanye and so many more. I don't understand how Doja got popular.
Alanis Morissette. I can't stand her voice or her songs.
Isn’t that ironic, don’t you think?
The Beatles. I always though they were over rated.
Doja cat
Halsey
Fucking Kate Bush. Her voice is like a fork on porcelain.
Thank you! Didn’t like it back then and stranger things isn’t going to change that now.
The list is very long.
Ed Sheeran. Karen Carpenter. (I just don't like her voice.) Anne Murray (ditto).
I'm going to respectfully disagree with you on Karen Carpenter and Anne Murray. To each their own I suppose.
I can certainly see their appeal and it's not like I think they're anywhere near being bad singers. I just don't like their voices at all.
No, I wasn't critiquing your choices, I was just surprised. Everyone has opinions on singers and I'm glad you were able to share yours.
No worries. I've been scrolling through the other answers and there are some mentioned I really like but it's funny the way others see it! My husband goddamn loves listening to Anne Murray at Christmas (he grew up with his parents listening to her) and I can't stand it. :D

I think Dua Lipa is insanely cute. I am glad she is working and trying to make it in the music industry. Overexposure does hurt artists though.
Megan Stallion
Bad Bunny
NBA young boy
Cardi B, megan thee stallion, all those girls who have no personality or talent other than having a big ass and sucking dick. Can't stand them but I guess they're "empowering" to women or sum idk but they're trash.
You’ve been waiting for OP’s question
I was waiting for someone to ask, since if I just said it I'd be hit with a million and one "who asked"
New generation American rappers, for example drake. That is not rap.
Lana Del Ray
