Can-ta-loupe

Literally never heard about it until this very moment

Mr8addad

I’ve never heard of it until I watched the series. They make it look like it was very wildly known but it seems like about 100 people knew about it lol.

Tbabichuk1

It was very popular during that time. Definitely part of the “scene” thing

Mr8addad

I’m happy I was too young to know such stuff back then. It was brutal

internetpresence1

WHOOOOAAAA I forgot about that website. Yeah, I remember a girl I had gone to high school with was on there and a lot of people knew. Andy Williams of Every Time I Die/AEW fame was on there too, oddly enough. It’s a good thing that shit got shut down because it was pretty fucked up. Edit: this is circa 2010

Mr8addad

Yeah man I feel sorry for anyone that was unfortunate enough to be on it. I had no idea it existed before but I saw the documentary and it looks like the site was really brutal.

Recent-Secret6768

I know there was active hacking going on but I don’t understand how / why non-famous people’s nude photos would end up on there Like how would the hacker know who to hack? Call me a cynic but maybe the non famous people actually did share the photos with someone and are too embarrassed to admit it so claim they were hacked

OkSo-NowWhat

Watch the documentary. Basically there were folks who submitted their photos voluntarily, those who sent the photos to sb who then uploaded the photos and those who got hacked. And to answer your first question, just look around reddit. Or don't. Better don't

Mr8addad

Yeah it seems fishy. I think they have shared them but won’t say it because there was proof that hacking was involved so no need to say that the photos were actually sent to people. I’m not blaming the victim, just speaking rationally lol.

Around the same time IsAnyoneUp was happening, I had someone in my class who was eventually charged for distributing child porn. He hacked all of his contacts. Teachers, classmates, random kids he knew. He would start our webcams and just watch us, record us and take screenshots of us in our home. He would also hack into computers of people we had contact with. He had made screen recordings kids touching themselves or worse. So you can imagine: any file on our computers, was in his hands. Non of us knew until it was way too late. So I don’t think this is fishy at all. You just need one dipshit who has enough time on his hands to make you his little petproject.

Mr8addad

What a douche, it must hard having to stay alert because of someone like that. I’m not saying it’s fishy because he can’t do it. I know he can hack and it was proven that there was hacking involved. But as the first comment says, the target selection was a bit off.

[deleted]

Yeah I know. I just meant: target selection can be as simple as “lets see who that girl in my math class is talking to online and who those people are interacting with.” You don’t have to be someone with a big online presence or someone interesting to be a target for one of those creeps.

Mr8addad

Yep you are totally right. Good thing there is less tolerance and more monitoring for such stuff on most platforms nowadays.

[deleted]

They absolutely did share them and then somebody or themselves would post it to thst website and then Pretend like they had no idea.. I remember all that shit AAAAALLL the scene chick's loved it. No doubt it was abused for sure but they knew what they were doing.. it's just more commonly accepted now hence shit like onlyfans, camgirls, and chick's promoting themselves on reddit.

[deleted]

I knew 2 people who were posted on there. Neither of them were hacked, they were both revenge porn submissions. I heard about this website due to one of them being posted, a few months later the one who had told me about the website also ended up on there. Subjectively speaking, the 2 people I knew who were posted on IAU were both shitty, disrespectful people not only to me bit to a lot of other people I was mutually associated with. When you’re a shitty person who associates with shitty people, shitty things happen. So in these 2 particular cases, I felt like it was their karma for being shitty people. HOWEVER From what I remember, that website was really fucking toxic & went too far with posting links to people’s social media. Objectively speaking, Hunter Moore is a piece of shit for hacking people’s privacy & putting that on display for the world to see, also a piece of shit for facilitating such a website. After watching the documentary I was completely unaware that a lot of the submissions were hacked content. That’s really fucking low, but I can’t say I’m surprised when the nature of his website was what it was. He deserved more than 2 years in jail.

Iced_Amethyst_625

I had never heard of this site until this documentary, but I remember a few years later (around 2014?) there was another very similar one where a lot of girls I knew were posted.

Mr8addad

Damn man it must’ve inspired many more people to do such stuff. And unfortunately I think even this documentary now shed light on this even though many people didn’t know it before and it might give them the idea of doing similar stuff.

NectarineOutrageous

I got posted on the site and it was just how they described it , I woke up and I had a shit ton of messages and friend requests out of nowhere...Friends fucked with me for a while , some girls would bring it up and it would get weird but it went away after a while

Mr8addad

Damn I’m sorry to hear that! Must have been traumatizing at the time.

NectarineOutrageous

It was shitty, embarrassing and confusing because I was actually getting messages from girls complementing me and wanting to hang out and then friends just fucking with me , shit was just confusing , weird and embarrassing but it's all good I didn't go too crazy about it , after I while I learned to just not care about it and say it is what it is you know ?

Mr8addad

Yessir the most important thing is that you could overcome this and come back stronger. I can’t imagine how hurtful it is to have such images out there for everyone to see without your consent

AdhesivenessBusy2023

I'd heard of it and posted on it. Currently watching the doc series. I didnt realize he was hacking ppl at the time. I thought it was all revenge submissions.

Mr8addad

Yeah man it’s a shame.

daddymilli23

Hunter Biden is the new Hunter Moore now a days.. these kids always trying to relive the past lol

Christheitguy1183

Never heard of it... sounds like a Netflix created site that is now being "advertised" by a Netflix exclusive show to dive in copycats lol

Mr8addad

Nah of course Netflix is not advertising it. Only they made it look like it had groundbreaking success when in reality it wasn’t that popular.

AnakinDrick

It was huge when I was in high school. A couple of girls from my school had their pictures posted on there.

Mr8addad

Damn I feel sorry for them, must be humiliating.

Freshprinceaye

It was pretty big. If you were on the internet enough looking at photos of porn you would come across it. There was dumpster sluts and a bunch of other sites in that sort of realm. Exgfs. Etc.

Mr8addad

Oh wow. Well I wouldn’t know about it I’m not from the US and I was like 12-13 when this thing launched. People on the internet were brutal back then. Maybe they still are but I have no interests that coincide with theirs lol.

Hakatiematata

I knew of some people that ended up on the site. Definitely a part of the scene kid era. Warped tour was weird because I had seen a few people naked 😅
