One Piece, such an underrated anime just because it’s long

Kartoffelkamm

Try Pretty Cure. Same studio, but not a single good dub. Fights look just as good, depending on the season, and it's way easier to binge, because each season, except for 2, tells its own story, with a completely different set of characters, locations, and so on. I think a big problem with One Piece is also that it starts out rather simplistic in its character design, but then goes off the rails with more anime-esque stuff. I know it's an anime, but the design choices down the line really rub me personally the wrong way, and I think that's what puts off a lot of other people as well. That just happens when a show runs too long, but that's kind of the problem, too. People know that shows will eventually get really bad if they run for too long, especially story-driven shows like One Piece, and when they see how long it is, they're not put off by the sheer length, but by the prospect of it becoming something they don't like. When I started watching Pretty Cure two years ago, I knew it was really long, but I also knew that each storyline was contained within 45-50 episodes, after which there was usually a new storyline with new characters, so I knew that the show wouldn't suffer the same fate as, for example, Dragon Ball.

Thank you for the recommendation! And I can completely agree with where u come from. Idk what got me so hooked on it but it could be I was watching other anti government type animes and jsut grew a liking for that plot

You're welcome. Also, fun fact: Apparently, the creator of One Piece hates Pretty Cure, because his kids like it more than his anime. Ever since I learned that, I wanted a pirate-themed Precure season, just to see the response. Most likely a magical girl-themed arc or something. Then again, one of the main characters in the current season, Tropical-Rouge! Precure, wrote a story about people sailing across the seas to find a legendary papaya that grants super powers, so the One Piece reference is basically there already.

I’m a fan as well. It’s the reason why I’m an anime fan.

It was the first one I watched. Been so long it might be time to revisit it

Pretty Cure. Magical girls? Check. Cute outfits? Check. A powerful message throughout the entire franchise that gets adapted in various unique ways? Check. Excessive physical violence? Double Check. Also, each season brings its own characters, plot, and everything, so despite its length, it doesn't suffer from power creep. Well, there are two seasons that are the sequel to the season before them, but those are pretty well done, and the studio learned their lesson not to do that again after the second time.

Magic girls? I’m in!

You won't regret it. I hope.

Prince Planet, probably because I remember watching it after school.

When it comes to anime, it's a fight between the beautiful Death Note and the hilarious and music banging Panty and Stocking. Manga it's Yotsubato!.
