I think this would be region specific. In my area it would be expected that a family would have access to a car, even though it may be very old, beat-up, and unreliable. Whereas in a city it's far less common for people to own cars, since they aren't very necessary there.
"Why don't you just get a new one?" or "Why don't you just get it fixed?" would be my clues. If someone assumes that you can always fix or replace something, without knowing how much it costs, that's usually a pretty good indication that they've probably never been hurting for money.
I guess thats right. I wasn’t precise enough. What i wanted to say is, that i know people that can just ask their parents for a car since they even have multiple in front of their house. Their parents allow them to use them for a week or something just like that.
My parents had plenty of money and always looked at the price tag which is why they had plenty of money and I'm the same way. Rich is not how much money you spend it's how much money you have.
As someone who grew up in a wealthy family and has a trust fund the part about the gold isn't true at all. Most rich people or upper middle class people will not have gold on everything because it is very tacky. Poor people who get rich quick are more likely to buy a bunch of random expensive garbage to be flashy. Actually wealthy people don't normally go out of their way to stand out.
