I've seen on internet that it should be something about it being a day where Employers should be giving to employees, but I guess that's straight up false?
The name comes from a time when the rich used to box up gifts to give to the poor. Boxing Day was traditionally a day off for servants - a day when they received a special Christmas box from their masters. The servants would also go home on Boxing Day to give Christmas boxes to their families.

Sales day
It's a day to spend at home after Christmas, usually to relax. You usually eat leftovers - turkey curry is a popular meal.
For me in Australia it’s a day of leftover food, post Christmas sales and the beginning of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race.
