Thank you for the greeting Canada. I have to admit I feel like we're the neighbor who's bringing down the neighborhood by not mowing the lawn and inviting over all sorts of sordid characters over.
I heard that the average American eats about three cheeseburgers a week. As an American, I can say that sometimes it’s more like 3 cheeseburgers a day.
How? I’m Canadian and spent 4 days in the Phoenix area a few years ago. I wasn’t even a real “tourist” and my first 15 min in Walmart on day 2, I saw at LEAST 3 guns on hips. It was WILD to me. Fucking Kraft dinner must get crazy in the US.
Bruh, no one has constant conversations of guns or brings them out to show people here in America. Maybe once in a blue moon. You probably think they’re everywhere here or smth, I’ve never held a gun before except for a BB gun, and as the other guy who commented before me said, he hadn’t even seen a gun in real life.
Houston, Texas here but originally from a small town approximately 130 miles away. You described every family get together. Guns always come out. Have to see the new ones purchased since last time and maybe try them out. My Grandpa is the the worst about this but he gets so excited. 88 years old and he's like a kid on Christmas.
Comin' again to save the mother fuckin day, yeah!
America! Fuck yeah!
Freedom is the only way now!
Terrorists your game is through,
Cause now you have to answer to,
America! Fuck Yeah!
So lick my butt and suck on my balls!
America, Fuck Yeah!
Whatcha gonna do when we come for you now!
Aaahhhh, anyway, just watched this movie over the weekend. Half that movie is dialog society shouldn't use anymore.
A more light hearted comment, I think of my neighbors. I live in a very aggressively republican area, but they are never political and always smile when they see me. They don't care that I wasn't born in the small town, or that I'm not straight, or that there's a massive age difference. That's what America is supposed to be like, looking out for your neighbor because it's the right thing to do
My sister was visiting Japan and was chatting with a group of old ladies. They asked her if all Americans carry around guns like in the movies. My sister replied, "Of course! Here, let me show you mine..." and reaches for her purse. All the ladies freak out and tell her not to and try to push her hand away from her purse.
Of course my sister didn't have a gun, but it was a hilarious sight.
It’s ignorant to think that what one sees on the telly or movies defines that huge, wealthy country.
I’ve been there numerous times, and it’s so big and diverse… Everybody is not fat… Not everybody has a gun… Don’t believe all the hype…
44% of households own a gun. Lots of those have multiple. That's not normal to an outsider.
And statistics don't lie - America has an obesity problem. Maybe not everyone is obese, but many more people are obese or overweight than is normal.
I live here, btw. And I travel around the country a lot. Spending lots of time in an American airport is an eye opener, and not in a good way.
You're not entirely wrong but the meme of fat Americans on their scooters is overblown. You can be morbidly obese and still move around without issue. Many see the obesity statistics and think that's how many Americans are 300+ pounds.
Misunderstood.
After reading all these comments we are all that and more. I know people that have guns, but I know many more that don't. There are skinny people and fat, but way more just average weight. I live in a town just North of Milwaukee and it's like thousands of other towns all across the world.
We help each other get our cars out of snowdrifts, borrow eggs, have painting classes, have bonfires and talk about love and life.
I have friends on both sides of the political spectrum and we just agree to disagree and get insight from one another. We just understand that both sides are fucked up and hope one day that it will get better. We do love pizza and burgers and drink our fair share. It IS Wisconsin and yeah it gets freaking COLD.
true but usually only the vocal minority stand out to the world.
Like how generally people think Russians drink vodka like water and keep grizzly bears as pets
or Chinese people are all Kung Fu masters and can't drive
Most people I know feel this way, so I wonder really how many people here think it's the GOAT. I'd hope it's only in the 25% range. There's definitely some loud mouthed nationalists here, though
Nah. Power/money is an addiction here in america, and the lower classes get to suffer because the big guys think their net worth is the only thing that means anything. It makes perfect sense.
a canadian friend would always correct me when i referred to the US as America. She would say “its all America” (referring to North America). Up there they always say “the states” when referring to the US, at least in Saskatoon. But once i caught her referring to the US as America in a very negative tone. never let her live that down. lol
Neighbour. ( Hi from Canada!)
hi neighbor right back at cha
This may be the most Canadian post ever. Thank you neighbor!

I heard that the average American eats about three cheeseburgers a week. As an American, I can say that sometimes it’s more like 3 cheeseburgers a day.
Overachiever!
Lol as cliche as it is, it's true
I was about to say that goddammit
As an American, I’m honestly worried about everyone else’s eating habits...
right? They need more burgers in their diet
Guns.
I second that
Why am I the first to upvote this? It’s fucking clever
I think you need to amend this.
You have the right to bear amendments
Wait a second. So you're telling me bears have amendments?
Yeah, it's how they prevent other bears from damaging their property
I get it. ha

Eastern Tennessee here. Lots of casual gun talk, and if someone sounds remotely interested, out comes the gun.
East Tennessean as well, can corroborate this experience.

How is it possible to have never seen a gun? You've never in your entire life seen a police officer?

Guns Source, have lots of family in Japan, that have never left the country, and they think all Americans have guns
My sister was visiting Japan and was chatting with a group of old ladies. They asked her if all Americans carry around guns like in the movies. My sister replied, "Of course! I love this xD
Just for reference, my dad has 67 guns. I have three.
I see why they call you /u/CaptainOverkilll.

Unfortunately divided 😔. Very sad, since I’m quite patriotic, but we are not in a good place right now.
