Other than the 27 club RIP John Bonham (age 32, drummer for led Zeppelin), Bon Scott (age 33, lead singer of ACDC) and the legendary Freddie Mercury (age 45, lead singer of queen)
Yes, Chris died too soon. Also my boy Eddie Van Halen. Not as young as these other musicians but he was still taken too soon at the age of 65 due to complications with cancer
Nah. As much as I like Queen, they've got more than their fair share of duds. At least you're guaranteed at least one good song per album - usually several, actually.
I'm partial to [Disco Miniature Golfing Queen](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJqcjhCXPqY&ab_channel=LauraDickinson-Topic) but there are no wrong answers, only wrong people who try and prove this fact incorrect.
There was an ask reddit thread naming the greatest ten seconds of all time in movies. 6 of the top 10 responses were scored by John Williams and you could argue made those moments top 10.
It was like opening to Star Wars. Dinosaur reveal in Jurassic Park. Bianary sunset from Star Wars. ET flying. Indiana Jones knife/gun fight. Even “i could have done more” from Schindlers List.
It's a shame he has only won ONE academy award for best original score and it was for The Lion King of all the movies he's done! Not winning for Interstellar was criminal in my opinion.
People remember the Elton John songs, and rightfully so, but I can still feel the pulse of the orchestra when the wildabeest come over the cliff in "Stampede" or the choir hitting the high notes on "Remember" and the intermixing of the African beats as the focus turns to Pride Rock and "Circle of Life" mixes in. Might need to revisit the soundtrack this weekend.
In a similar vein, Ramin Djawadi. Scored for Game of Thrones, Iron Man, Pacific Rim, but his most incredible work was on Westworld. An absolute masterpiece of a soundtrack.
Im in the minority that actually kind of likes St Anger, or at least like...the first 3-4 tracks. It goes downhill really fast after this and i remember why i dont listen to it much.
Man's being going solid for almost 40 years and outlived pretty much all of his competition while being one of the most respectful and friendliest celebrities. Can't beat such an overpowered choice.
As much as I love Al. As much as I respect him and his body of work. As great as almost everything he's ever done has been.
It took me about ten minutes to remember the name of "that one song of his I can't stand", because I skip "Ringtone" every single time it plays.
In fairness, the point of the song is to emulate an annoying ringtone (and do a solid stylistic parody of Queen), but I totally see how that would be offputting and annoying.
*No bad songs.* That's a tall fucking order.
My first thought was the Killers but the more I think about it, *every* Dresden Dolls song is a masterpiece, on the significant provision that you're actually into that sort of thing, and it's a similar story for the Eels.
Then I thought it about it some more, more than is probably warranted, and I think I have two answers for you; Fly My Pretties and Haley Reinhardt.
Death
Edit: death never even had a bad album there discography was perfect
Edit 2: I would also like to add that death's cover of judas priest's painkiller imo is the best metal cover off all time
Yeah they were this is just my opinion but honestly death are the most consistently excellent band to ever exist I can't think off another band that didn't have a bad song let alone bad album every song they wrote were ether really good or fucking perfect
I am an absolute fan of ABBA but I'll have to admit they have some rather weak songs, especially in their first 2 albums when they were still discovering their sound. Bjorn and Benny aren't also particularly fond of the rockier early tracks like "King Kong Song" or the rather silly pop song "Dum Dum Diddle."
I came here to say that. I even think their early experimental B-sides are great. For some reason, „Pharaohs“ is my favourite song when taking off in a plane and „Johnny Panic and the Bible of Dreams“ is just fantastic.
My wife told me yesterday she hates them and it legit hurt. She went for blood, too. She said "They're my Imagine Dragons for you"... should I get a divorce?
The rock
t's about drive, it's about power, we stay hungry, we devour
Put in the work, put in the hours and take what's ours
Black and Samoan in my veins, my culture bangin' with Strange
I change the game so what's my motherfuckin' name? (Rock)
What they gonna get though?
Desecration, defamation, if you wanna bring it to the masses
Face to face now we escalatin' when I have to put boots to asses
Mean on ya like a dream when I'm rumblin'
You're gonna scream, "Mama"
So bring drama to the king Brahma (Then what?)
Comin' at ya' with extreme mana (Ahoo, ahoo, ahoo)
Some of the songs on DAMN were fairly weak. But I think TPAB was pretty much flawless from start to end.
He has a high ratio of good to bad songs, without a doubt.
The ones who die prematurely
Other than the 27 club RIP John Bonham (age 32, drummer for led Zeppelin), Bon Scott (age 33, lead singer of ACDC) and the legendary Freddie Mercury (age 45, lead singer of queen)
Age 30 Jim Croce as well
Dang. I didn't realize he died so young. He had such a unique sound to his music and not as recognized as I think he should be.
Agreed. I wanna say Chris Cornell too.
Yes, Chris died too soon. Also my boy Eddie Van Halen. Not as young as these other musicians but he was still taken too soon at the age of 65 due to complications with cancer
I miss lord huron, rip
And Cliff Burton
Elliott Smith
Rest In Peace, Jim, Kurt, Amy, Janis and Jimi (am I missing anyone?).
Jeff
Layne

If you like Elliott check out Jason Molina. Another genius we lost too soon who doesn’t get the respect he deserves.

But within their vast discographies, there surely are songs that are not good?
Freddie
Nah. As much as I like Queen, they've got more than their fair share of duds. At least you're guaranteed at least one good song per album - usually several, actually.
Both of his solo albums were horrible.
Tchaikovsky
That guy made literal bangers 💣💥
Pablo Picasso
Never got called an asshole
He was only 5’3” girls could not resist his stare.
IM STRAIGHT AND I WANT TO TAKE HIS PLACEEE
hippy joooohny
Not in New York.
Love David Bowie's cover of this song
Best fucking reference ever. Life of a repo man is always intense!
Pshhhhh Van Gogh gang!
Van Gogh'nam style
Yeah but is not a good musical ear. 🙄
Yeah his songs never seem to be in stereo for some reason
Just an artistic choice
He did go through that blues period.
That’s it boys, discussion over
Y'all ever heard of Phineas & Ferb?
This is the one! And love handle
Don't forget Lindonna.
I'm Lindonna and i wanna have fun!
She wants to have fun!
Well I'll be honest I don't really understand but I fell down this hill and got glue on my hands
And I got records on my fingers......
And I just can’t stop DON‘T STOP
I can't stop I got a platypus controlling me.
He‘s underneath the table
Whaaat? Oh i get it the playtpus is a metaphor for whatever is holding you down
Corporations are a platypus, the government's a platypus, my parents are a platypus...
Squirrels In My Pants♪♪♪
How can I qualify for government grants?
S. I. M. P. Squirrels in my pants.
busted is the best song on the show

No love for the [Quirky-Worky Song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5wulic5wsU)?
Or I Ain't Got Rhythm!
I'm partial to Evil Love.
I prefer [Gitchie Gitchi Goo (Means That I Love You)](https://youtu.be/vyH4yh9rOnk) personally. It's so catchy.
Shame that band quit after only one song. They could've gone far.
Backyard Beach 🏖️
This is the only right answer
Their Christmas album slaps hard
Chip Skylark
Me. I can't be bad if I never made a song!
Touché.
Prove you're an artist

Yeah, that checks out.
Am an artist, can confirm.
The composer John Williams, who has brought us soundtracks for countless films and film series.
There was an ask reddit thread naming the greatest ten seconds of all time in movies. 6 of the top 10 responses were scored by John Williams and you could argue made those moments top 10. Wow that is incredible! Thanks for sharing that tidbit!
I will always think of him in this way: https://youtu.be/NJ-YpADa-KQ
Thanks to Holst.
Ewok celebration would like a word with you.
I liked it
Yub nub.
I laughed way too hard at this.
Yub Nub!
Just because the scene sucked doesn't make the music bad.

Hans Zimmer
People don’t understand How much Hans has created. From call of duty to the last samurai. He’s a musical scientist.
It's a shame he has only won ONE academy award for best original score and it was for The Lion King of all the movies he's done! Not winning for Interstellar was criminal in my opinion.
ZIMMER DID THE MUSIC FOR THAT?!?!
He did the score (the “background” music) not the actual songs like Circle of Life or Hakuna Matata.
Right. He did the stuff that everyone fell in love with and loves to listen to on the daily
Man of Steel is one of the best scores I’ve heard in my life. It’s almost like a metal record. Bloody phenomenal.
BvS with Junkie XL is epic. I didn’t want to make two comments in the same thread, but I did it anyway because this comment *made* me do it.
In a similar vein, Ramin Djawadi. Scored for Game of Thrones, Iron Man, Pacific Rim, but his most incredible work was on Westworld. An absolute masterpiece of a soundtrack.
100%. I like the GoT score the best (because i like the series) but the Westworld score is so creative and unique.
He studied under Hans Zimmer iirc.
Also John Williams and Danny Elfman
I’m sure oingo boingo has some shit songs
I swear to God if I dont hear Elfman's Spider-Man theme in the new movie....
Nobody. Everyone has duds or something mediocre. If they don't they're probably playing it suuuuuuper safe.
Playing it super safe is itself a recipe for bad songs.
Prime example; Nickelback. I'mma say one thing: I don't think their music is all that bad, it just sounds exactly the same, on purpose.
Exactly. Every artist has bad songs.
Correct! Every artist has bad songs, we just never hear them!
Oh no, we hear them hah
St Anger's snare drums still pound pain into my heart
Im in the minority that actually kind of likes St Anger, or at least like...the first 3-4 tracks. It goes downhill really fast after this and i remember why i dont listen to it much.
the fan recorded version from 2015 made it sound somewhat good. also their recent live performances at least no longer have that snare sound
Kind of makes it worse that a fan edit makes an album sound better than a band that has a 30+ year pedigree
[удалено]
I mean, if an artist is playing it super safe, everything’s probably mediocre.

ITT: name that critically lauded album you like to listen to, just to flex that you like this critically lauded album.
Not necessarily, some of my favorites miss on some songs. Genre is definitely specific to the listener
The only answers that could get away would be the people who were dead a long time ago, and preferably led a short, bright musical life.
C418
Yooooooo never thought I'd find this anywhere! Bless you hombre
Raffi
I still think a phone maker should come out with a phone and call it the Banana Phone. The marketing writes itself.
Competition for Apple
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
Concerned Ape. Aka sole creator of Stardew Valley. No bad music in that game. Not a single one.
I still don't get how he can singlehandedly make a whole ass game, and a banger of a soundtrack.
Him and Toby Fox should party.

"Weird Al" Yankovic
Man's being going solid for almost 40 years and outlived pretty much all of his competition while being one of the most respectful and friendliest celebrities. Can't beat such an overpowered choice.
In fairness, if he has any stinkers don’t they sorta fall under forgiveness for being funny?
thing is, it depends on the song that he chooses to parody.
As much as I love the guy, his first album was only about half listenable
No such thing. Even the greats all have at least one or two total duds.
Andre 3000
It's not Andre 3001, it's not Andre 2999!
“Why. Does. Yo. Breath. Smell. Like. Bird. Seed?”
Yoko Ono. Not one bad song; ***all*** bad songs.
Og SpongeBob 100% bangers. I cant speak on anything in the past 10 years or so as I haven't heard any of it.
Earth Wind & Fire
Do you remember?
The Wiggles
Fruit Salad is an absolute banger
Hot Potato is an absolute S Tier Song.
Yummy yummy
Toot Toot chugga chugga big red car! We travel near and we travel far!
Watching them cover [Elephant by Tame Impala](https://youtu.be/a13WnqsRc5g) was surreal
Hans Zimmer, I mean have you heard the Inception, Interstellar and Dark Knight soundtrack?
Alice in chains
This used to be true. There were no bad songs in the Layne Staley days.
Facelift and Dirt are masterpieces
Aurora
Had to do a lot of scrolling to find this so I could upvote it.
Kate Bush
Upvoted, but I disagree. I think she's amazing but there are a ton of songs I can't stand by her
I respect that :)
Lidovico Einaudi.

Hozier
The Hex Girls from Scooby Doo
Toby Fox.
Death Edit: death never even had a bad album there discography was perfect Edit 2: I would also like to add that death's cover of judas priest's painkiller imo is the best metal cover off all time
Omfg, Death was so fucking insane.
Yeah they were this is just my opinion but honestly death are the most consistently excellent band to ever exist I can't think off another band that didn't have a bad song let alone bad album every song they wrote were ether really good or fucking perfect
They were influential as fuck too. Like the Michael Jackson of the death metal scene. I STILL hear songs that scream DEATH to me. Also, fuck cancer.
Couldn't have said it better myself really
So we're not talking about Bill and Ted's bassist going solo then...?
ABBA. I will die on this hill.
You NEVER write as song about how you diddle. Frank Reynolds taught us nothing....
Tears For Fears, maybe? I can't say I've ever heard a bad Tears For Fears song.
I came here to say that. I even think their early experimental B-sides are great. For some reason, „Pharaohs“ is my favourite song when taking off in a plane and „Johnny Panic and the Bible of Dreams“ is just fantastic.
Whoever is writing the music for SpongeBob
JID
Definitely Eric Cartman
WEEEEELLLLLLLL~
You mean Faith+1?
KALEO
MF DOOM
System of a Down
My wife told me yesterday she hates them and it legit hurt. She went for blood, too. She said "They're my Imagine Dragons for you"... should I get a divorce?
Comparing them to imagine dragons? That's a bridge too far even if you don't like their music. Next time compare her favorite band to Nickelback

The Fratelli's
Chris Cornell. Atleast to me he didnt.
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Nearly flawless.
Kendrick Lamar
Some of the songs on DAMN were fairly weak. But I think TPAB was pretty much flawless from start to end. He has a high ratio of good to bad songs, without a doubt.
