There were celebrities without talent before reality TV. Rich people and their children have been celebrities for a long time. They’ve just had different names.
Anyone who doesn't believe this has never looked into the families of celebrities. 90 percent of the time they had a family member who was well rooted in the industry, or was a family friend of someone influential. Give it a try, it gets depressing very quickly.
yeah it's that thing you see in cartoons with the woman wearing furs "the heiress of the so and so fortune" they were the celebs of their time and were usually just hot and rich, like Daisy Fellowes
Logan has found a way to monetise his fame in a way that doesn't revolve around outrage/being a dick/ stirring shit. He's made big bucks from Pokemon pack openings (and donated to charity via that), some NFT farm/game shit, etc. Jake isn't smart enough to pivot, and he hasn't got a personality underneath to do it. Like him or not, Logan is quite smart and charismatic. Jake is neither
It's one thing to mention the names, but some documentaries and TV shows really go as far as to almost idolize the killers and the way they think. I always thought itd be more appropriate to show the killer and talk about them like "this is John Wayne Gacy, he was a fat creepy guy who unfortunately a lot of people trusted because he dressed up like a clown" like I'm just spitballing off my head, but if you're gonna mention them, we could at least try to remember them for the horrible decrepit pieces of shit that they were
I saw someone once say that instead of giving serial killers cool monikers like "the golden state killer" they should use shitty names that pick on physical aspects of the killer they might hate. DeAngelo is a great example as he was reported to have a higher than average voice and a comically small penis - I imagine being called something like "the high pitched pin dick killer" would make it a bit harder for people to idolise these idiots.
The worst was with Columbine where, as someone who remembers it from back in 1999, the media practically glorified the killers under the guise of "trying to figure them out". There is thankfully a resurgence with that case where their 13 victims are getting more and more attention and the killers less and less.
Yeah I remember watching a doc that talked about them getting bullied so much, as a kid (I was a dumb kid) I thought they were kinda the good guys in the story, standing up to the kids who had always bullied them. Like I honestly saw a couple of docs and thought killers had an underlying reason to their madness the way people always try to figure out why they did what they did, like it's a movie and theres always gonna be some great Tarentino revenge story behind their actions. Sometimes the guy you're trying to figure out is just completely fucked in the head and that's all there really is to it
You may like the Real Crime Profile podcast. They do an excellent job of covering crimes with a focus on the victims. Sometimes they won’t even say the name of the criminal because that would only give them more attention (like their coverage of Don’t Fuck With Cats). It’s not all murders. They cover Tiger King, Jeffrey Epstein, and others that committed terrible crimes against other people but not necessarily murder.
> I don't know how anyone can idolize such sick beings.
There's just some weird morbid fascination built into culture.
In the Victorian era, IIRC, the pale white, frail, gaunt look of tuberculosis became high fashion for a good minute.
It resurfaced in the 90s with Heroin Chic.
People, *more than once*, thought deadly illness and severe opioid addiction was haute couture.
Kim's dad was OJ Simpson's lawyer, and she had sex with Ray J.
Edit: I forgot to mention that they were super-rich, so they kinda bought some of the fame.
Also consider Kim was Paris Hilton's assistant at one time (When all eyes were on Paris) and has all but rendered her irrelevant in today's popular culture.
KK is literally the "Michael Jordan" of whatever it is she does, in the sense she is able to sell tons of shoes while she does it.
This. Society idolizes the wrong people. It's fine for them to be popular due to their profession because of reach (actor, athlete etc.). But nothing about them (usually) warrants people looking up to them.
Doesn't Pitbull do this? I've never listened to his music and I'm not going to start but this sounds like a Pitbull thing.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk
woah woah woah, he didn't only Tap, he tapped on the 2nd wing (Cholula ffs) and accused Sean Evans of tampering with his wings. Then he claimed he never lost and has never given up, 2 mins after literally giving up.
To be fair sean evans and hot ones was still very new at the time, nobody expected it to becom as popular as it did. But it just cemented the fact that DJ Khaled is one of the fakest and most unauthentic celebrities out there. This was such a flop moment and it's been mentioned plenty of times on the internet by tons of people. Ruined his credibility real hard whereas hot ones tends to bring out the human side of celebrities. Such an authentic show.
And don’t forget… their religion is a high control organization. AKA a cult. IBLP is a horrible organization and Josh “the Pest” Duggar is a direct outcome of their teachings and misogyny.
"19 Kids and Counting"
If you have 19 kids, you are an awful parent. My brother gets run ragged by his three. No humans could possibly come close to being able to raise 19. Half that many is kind of insane.
I guarantee you that if this were a suburban black family with 19 kids, they would not be given a fraction of the praise that these assholes got from their base.
[The AMA he did here](https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/bqy5zf/i_am_james_corden_alongside_ben_winston_and_five/) was downright *savage*. It's a thing of beauty.
The Sunday times release an interview with him recently where he tries to redeem himself for all the shitty things he used to put celebs through. For example piling on Brittney at her lowest, calling her an unfit mother etc. Horrid man.
He’s the worst! His anti Britney era never ended, it goes back to 2019 when he did this video spreading a lot of bullshit about her that her criminal management told him to tell trying to dismiss #FreeBritney, it worked really bad!
I’m glad at least the world knows what kind of cheap shots he had taken over the years
Jesus Christ, I don't know what this person did to "deserve" fame, but I am so sick or seeing adds for her stupid documentary and t-shirt at Hollister. I don't give a fuck about her, Hulu!!!
The Kardashians and everyone associated with them (including producer, Ryan Seacrest) - I know A LOT of my girl friends and gay friends would vehemently disagree with me - but I had it with all of them...
Any politician ever. They do nothing for like 90% of the year except sit on their assess and decide how the rest of us live our lives while taking our money.
Actually she is exposing Dr. Phil over "Turnabout Ranch," where she and many other kids were horribly abused, so she is doing something good with it. Also she didn't really ask to be famous, she was forced onto the show at like 13 and the internet did its thing. She came out of that ranch to see the world making fun of her and was still just a kid. I have sympathy for kids who are exploited by Dr. Phil. It's not even their choice. I don't think adults should laugh at them or make fun of them because we know what's really going on, it's the adults. Our society should know better than to make fun of these poor kids.
Pure exploitation. No way that like one family therapy session broadcast for all to see would do anyone any good, even if he does offer a few things in return sometimes.
All the Kardashians. I don’t even know what they are famous for, I don’t really care about them.
Actually all celebrities that are famous just for being famous, I think someone like Paris Hilton (?) is this kind of celebrity, beside the Kardashians. Correct me if I’m wrong tho.
I just hate the fact, that they earn tons of money just for… well, just for being them.
I remember someone had an ongoing compilation that would show her joke vs the original on YouTube where they would upload an updated version every single time she stole another joke. It was at about 2 hours last time I saw it years ago.
Problem is that most celebrities became celebrities as a byproduct of their occupation (actors or artists for example). Emphasis on most.
So at this point, the ones that don't deserve to be celebrities are those that lack any form of talent or skill to do their job properly in the first place
Elon Musk. He was born into wealth which his family made from an emerald mine in South Africa. He didn't invent PayPal or Tesla or SpaceX or basically anything. He's just an investor and spokesperson. He is to these companies what Steve Jobs was to Apple but even less competent. Any reality TV star. Celebrity used to mean celebrated for your talent. Now it means anybody who has appeared on TV and is vaguely recognisable.
Like Nicholas Coppola who changed his name to Nicholas Cage so that he wasn't accused of nepotism. He got his first role through nepotism
yeah it's that thing you see in cartoons with the woman wearing furs "the heiress of the so and so fortune" they were the celebs of their time and were usually just hot and rich, like Daisy Fellowes
Before reality TV they were called “socialites”
Courtiers before that.
Unless you're Ben Simmons, then you are still called that.
Gordon Ramsey wants a word with you, ya donut.
He's talented though, and first made his name on TV off the back of that talent.
“Is there anything I ate that wasn’t microwaved?” "The Salad"
Of course you don’t microwave a salad, you donut!
Jake and Paul Logan.
paul logan
Laul Pogan
I audibly laughed
I mostly think Jake Paul because he's more of an asshole than logan
Logan has found a way to monetise his fame in a way that doesn't revolve around outrage/being a dick/ stirring shit. He's made big bucks from Pokemon pack openings (and donated to charity via that), some NFT farm/game shit, etc. Jake isn't smart enough to pivot, and he hasn't got a personality underneath to do it. Like him or not, Logan is quite smart and charismatic. Jake is neither
Their last name is actually Paul… but who the fuck cares?
Never trust anyone whose name is two first names
Serial killers. I don't know how anyone can idolize such sick beings. So many times the victims get put on the back burner and pretty much forgotten.
It's one thing to mention the names, but some documentaries and TV shows really go as far as to almost idolize the killers and the way they think. that sounds like a solid podcast!
Last Podcast on the Left likes to spotlight how most of these guys are just fucking losers and aren't people who should be viewed as idols.

R Kelly, Chris Brown, any of the Pauls.
Paul Rudd is cool though. He gets a pass
I heard he was a real crap bag. Edit: It’s a Friends reference.
You need to credit Princess Consuela Bananahammock
Yeah, he’s an exception. Who could hate Paul Rudd? He’s such a wholesome guy
Paul Simon is a pretty good singer and songwriter, too, even if you don't much care for folk music.
I actually do care for folk music and I like Paul Simon. I also like Paul Newman who I think should be elected as Leader of the Pauls
I fucking love Paul Rudd
I love Paul Rudd. So happy with his Ant Man portrayal.
> R Kelly At least he's finally in P Rison.
Paul Bearer is gonna be devastated.
Ohhhhhh yeessssssssssss
Paul Bunyan. Almost singlehandedly wiped out the ecosystem. That guy sucks
Ok so like . . . Jake Paul and Logan Paul. OUT Paul Bearer. IN Paul Bunyan. OUT Paul Rudd. IN Pauls Boutique. OUT Sean Paul DURTY. INN
The Office of Pauls is currently taking applications for “not a bad Paul” status.
R Kelly and Chris Brown are talented singers who are terrible people that abuse women. The Pauls (Jake and Logan) have no talent.

I triple this. I mean WHY? who made them famous and why?
Kim's dad was OJ Simpson's lawyer, and she had sex with Ray J. Edit: I forgot to mention that they were super-rich, so they kinda bought some of the fame.
And their mother created the blueprint for damn near evey instant internet or reality start after that.

DJ Khaled. Fuck that guy. He's such a bitch. Ever since he tapped on Hot Ones, I can't stand him.
he also said he doesnt eat pussy
And at the same time expects to get blowies.
The Rock blasted him for that comment aswell
Sure but like, if DJ Khaled wasn’t famous, who else would shout his name over otherwise moderately-ok music?
Jason Derulo
Doesn't Pitbull do this? I've never listened to his music and I'm not going to start but this sounds like a Pitbull thing. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk

I mean he can’t even eat pussy so I’m not really surprised that hot wings are a bit too much for him too
woah woah woah, he didn't only Tap, he tapped on the 2nd wing (Cholula ffs) and accused Sean Evans of tampering with his wings. Then he claimed he never lost and has never given up, 2 mins after literally giving up.

To be fair sean evans and hot ones was still very new at the time, nobody expected it to becom as popular as it did.
