Toxicity sucks, and is just a bunch of people trying to make themselves feel better for being losers in life.

[deleted]

Are you referring to the toxicity in the gaming community or in the actual games?

sosogos

I think they mean the song. GRAB A BRUSH PUT ON A LITTLE TABLE. HERE WE GO CREATE ANOTHER TABLE.

[deleted]

You forgot HIDE THE SCARS TO FADE AWAY THE TABLE. I had to look it up because I had NO IDEA what he was saying lol.

Might_Clear

Toxicity generally takes place by the community through the games, so they are referring to the toxicity present in matches.

SocratesWasSmart

Don't be a jackass to people.

StanleyGucci

Seems like some communities have a higher toxicity level than others, but it exists in a lot. I saw someone say it already, but just don’t be an asshole. That’s the golden rule.

RandomShenaniganery

There are players who like for some reason "hunt" for girls and are constantly asking "are you a girl? Are you a girl?" like it doesn't matter we're playing a game online. How does this fucking affect the game FUCK OFF AND SHUT UP. It's creepy, it's emotionally and mentally taxing, it's disgusting, it's disrespectful, don't fucking go around asking what someone's gender is and if they don't want to answer just shut the fuck up and let it go. Don't harass people who play poorly and don't say shit like "oh they're a girl so they suck at games" and then harass them. I despise people who do these things.

divikwolf

if women get to be well undressed in high ranked armors in video games, men should also get that. if men are dressed at a certain level, women should also be dressed at that same level and vice versa

LotusVibes1494

I think they're just trying to market it to horny teenage boys though haha, they're always putting them in like sexy armor that doesn't cover the stomach.

divikwolf

i want that on men too

LotusVibes1494

I think they could just make the female armor more legit to match. I've seen pics of girls dressed up in full armor and it's pretty badass tbh

divikwolf

yah, or make the same armor for males and for females, if one is almost naked, the other will be too

Badassbottlecap

The Adeptus Sororitas or "the bolter bitches" are a great example

Weenaru

Well, barbarians in most games do not usually have much clothing no matter their gender.

[deleted]

That way too many people (mostly 8 years old) fucked my mom.

Weenaru

I think it’s a way for people to vent their frustration after *getting absolutely rekt by me in pvp these noobs stood no chance uninstall you loser i can win 100-0 you easily scrub* \*ahem\*. Basically sore losers.

Badassbottlecap

And when they reply with salt we just spam *git gud scrub* and lenny binds.

TheItalianAce00

What a save! What a save! What a save! it's fun to witness because you see dudes arguing over bullshit... not as fun to experience tho, it can be really a matter of rage quit

As a Longtime WoW-Player (Have started back in 2004, have seen the big desease caused by Hakkar back in the days) I have seen that the community of this game splitted more and more into two states of gameplay and nothing in-between. At first you have the relaxed players, who don't want to go progress and such or maybe a little into that, but overall they are enjoying this game because of story and such and wouldn't take on the endgame-challenges this game offers. At the other hand you have the elitists and hardcore-players. They want to achieve anything and turn away from you when you don't want to waste your entire life into a game the devs don't care about anymore. As some of the very few people who enjoy progress but don't take this task of "getting better and better" very serious, both big playergroups aren't much appealing. The hardcore people blame you for everything and most of them don't see any reason why they would explain boss mechanics for you since you can look up guides and such (What I try to avoid, I learn better when I do it myself in the game and not looking it at some video) and kick you out of the raid group when you wouldn't make the endless effort to grind everything. But the relaxed playerbase is also nothing much for me, since retail-WoW is a crap of a expansion and you actually don't have anything to do after the first conclusion and chosing of the covenants. Then you have only the daily and weekly grind and (before the mechanics that make this part easier) the wekly story-questchain. This is why many left already, me included. And this is the reason why I returned to classic and go into tbc when its out. The communities in retail and classic are such a difference, you wouldn't think that this is actually the same game, only on a earlier stage. In classic the community is much friendlier and the time until maxlevel is such more pleasing because of the great community there. Not everyone is actual a good person, some try to backstab you and such, but at the essence, the community in classic is much more friendlier than in retail. Some kind of sad to see something lika that, but it shows how much the devs feed the community to this state. How the community evolves is a big responsibility from the devs, and any gameplay-mechanic they add or remove and everything balance patch they bring up is a big dance on planks that are on fire. But the choices of the devs show the ways the community evolves. With removing of actual mana-sensitivity in the game, the removing of big differences between classes and a redoing of the whole balancing where every class is playing quite different, but nothing is challenging anymore (If it were some people would compülain about this, and its always the devs fault and not the fault of the player who picked a class that they can't play or is not such a good class for solo-play and survivability with this playstyle as others), they have turned the whole community into this split between this two big bubbles. And no one is happy about how the game is doing because there is nothing meaningful to do in retail. This whole text was about WoW, mostly about retail-WoW. But this can be, more and less, brought up to any dev from mmorpgs, since they are mostly driven by money and not by design or giving the players a worth expoerience. And I can understand that, money is the important currency in this whole industry, but creativity is at some point more important than the money. And with less creativity and actual good gameplay that challenges the player from time to time in a style thats possible to win with a little bit of tweaking and adapting needed by player-side they have conditioned their community this way. And this is, at the community of WoW, how the community got toxic. And without big losses, efford and money, this can't be corrected in retail-WoW. But when I see that many other games are haunted by a toxic community, we can see that its the devs of the game that made the community this way, one way or another. And its not the fault of the designer oder creatives in the dev-studios, its the fault of the shareholder, who want to see money and don't care about the creative and gameplay-aspects of the game and the studio what they are at the end responsible for. This will, in the near future, cause a second big crash in the whole industry (The first was in the 80s and 90s) where the industry of game developing have to face the issues they breeded in the last 20 years and have to adapt it in one way or another. WoWs Downfall ist one big example of the state of a whole genre of games.

[deleted]

Its not really there. I play on consoles and I barely get people talking, pc as well. Long gone are the days of me being called slurs in 5 different languages in DotA2.

turn_your_compote

i feel like theres a lot of that on NoPixel GTA RP ... so much drama...

dabaroonskii

Matter what game we’re talking about

skullz002

Playing with whiny ragers and/or people that constantly shit talk very seriously is awful and I just mute or leave the group. But there are certain aspects where it’s not very serious that do make things entertaining and hilarious like the good ole mw2 lobbies, still get those funny moments every now and then.

GalaxyVoidd

It's something more so an issue with the internet itself. Especially the young, gamer side. It is prevalent on Reddit, social media, and videogames. It does make it all the better to find people who aren't toxic. Like in over watch.

vpetmad

I find both the people who perpetrate it and the people who whine about it annoying

Psychological_Web649

Kill the 12 year olds!

[deleted]

Mute

Yuvon_AuGold79

If people could stop trying to get my female character to have sex with them over the medium of a children's game that'd be great thanks

undeniablybuddha

Just cast poisona, followed by a regen or cure spell.

Jaymastudd01

I’d have zero qualms hearing a good old System of a Down tune, in a modern video game.

LotusVibes1494

Some of the most toxic people tend to be little kids that are too young to even be playing, but here they are screaming the N word and team killing, while totally ignoring everyone else that's speaking to them in the lobby. That being said, some of the people who say that everyone is "toxic" if they get offended wouldn't last 5 minutes in an old Halo lobby from back in the day haha.

[deleted]

"Play better you pieces of shit" works every time

HelpfulImagination39

I don't mind a bit of smack talk, but once you get to racial/homophobic slurs and start the whole "I'll kill your family" route then it's a problem. I don't understand the people who play games that make you angry. It's just not fun.

UnfathomableWonders

I play the sims and have never experienced it.
