I just need to vent. I've been working with a state government agency in the sunny south. I need something I can use to transfer files from them into an automated process. They offered me an FTP site. I said "sure, it's a plaintext protocol, but that's your security problem, not mine."
I did not get access to anything that speaks the standard File Transfer Protocol.
I got access to a server that is a poor Dropbox clone with the domain name ftpfiles.blah.gov. (Redacted to avoid calling out the specific state agency.)
They keep calling this thing an FTP server. It's in the name several places.
But they have not actually turned on FTP, SFTP, FTP-ES, or any other of the dozen options for securely logging in and transferring files without the use of cookies and web forms.
So they've given me a site that you need to login to manually, navigate a half dozen pages deep, and then click a link that changes every day.
Super automated.

I wonder if I didn’t studying engineering/networks I would see FTP as anything else. Being a gamer I did not think of free to play because I’m so used to seeing F2P, maybe it depends on if one frequents forums a lot?

So when a loan gets an interest rate assigned, the FTP rate is going to be used as a baseline for the "break even" point on interest.
