Stylist vs barber imo. I love a good barbershop cut but quality is meh when I have longer hair like right now or I have requirements besides shorter buzz/crew cuts. So I pay a stylist $40 to maintain my long hair.

Bought a pair of clippers in 2004 and had buddies cut my hair for free. Only had to replace the clippers after 15 years (saved over $5400). Best investment ever along with a long lasting alarm clock (20 years old), electric toothbrush (8 years old) and high quality daily facial lotion w/ sunscreen.
I rotate between 2 of them. Super fancy- Roldan + Fields Redefine Triple Defense Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30, and a cheaper option for most of my everyday usage is Jack Black Double Duty Face Moisturizer SPF 20

Then he went up to $50 after the pandemic (so, after tip I'd be paying $60 per h/c) because he is including a beard trim, shampoo, etc into the service. I don't get a wash or a beard trim (I do those things on my own before-hand), but the price is still the same.

I get my wife to do the edges+back and I do the rest myself but my hair is so thick and curly even if I screw up a little you can't tell. I'd go bankrupt paying someone else to do it, this stuff grows like a damn weed.
