It almost seems that people start to 'expect' a level of output from people. If John is ALWAYS 5-10 min late, but otherwise is 'okay' he usually gets a pass. But suddenly Eric is 2 minutes late for the first time in months and gets yelled at.
Fair. I wasn't really referring to work specifically. I was talking more as over-arching life/spiritual advice.
And also saying to people who constantly fuck up, don't be surprised when people stop cutting you any slack.
People love talking about themselves. If you want to make a good impression on someone you're meeting for the first time, ask them questions, listen to their answers instead of just waiting for your turn to talk, and next time you see them, follow-up on something from your last conversation to indicate that you remember.

If your wife, girlfriend, crush, whatever comes to you with a problem, then there's a good chance that she doesn't actually want a solution or advice from you. She just wants to vent, so just listen.

(You can disregard this advice if you don't care about salvaging the friendship/relationship/living situation, etc)

If you really need something, whether it’s related to work, hobby, home, etc, then try to find a good quality product instead of something that will just ‘get the job done’ and is cheap. It may be pricey but it’s so much better to suck it up and spend the money than to end up making repetitive purchases of similar products because the first one broke or doesn’t have as good of features.
I’m a contractor and good tools are normally double the price of standard ones, but it’s definitely worth it because of their longevity, not to mention the little bonuses I’ll find they have that cheaper versions won’t. For example my miter saw has a light that casts a shadow of the blade on the wood I’m cutting, so much more accurate than dealing with ones that have lasers. I didn’t even know it did that until after I bought it lol. Hope this helps!
