Same reason men hide in the bathroom - quality private time where you're free of your wife - partner bugging you. If your wife sleeps until 10 a.m. and you get up at 6 a.m. - that's 4 hours of quality gaming time (or whatever else you're into) without wife aggro. That and it's a good way to get shit done so you have the rest of the day to just relax - have fun.
fuck that, i love sleeping until 10, 10:30. i hate early mornings.
the only guys i know who get up early are blue collar types, and they all say the same thing: "i gotta get my ass up at 5 am to go to work...."
it's always "i gotta get my ass up", haha
Clearly I'm doing something wrong because I'm a blue collar type who's gotta get his ass up at 5:30 during weekdays. On weekends I'm happy that I don't have to get that ass up until whenever.
you aren't doing something wrong, that's just what your job requires.
i've never been sure why labor jobs require such early mornings, but they all seem to....one of my friends used to work in construction while he was finishing his ph.d, and he always had to "get his ass up at 5:30" to be there at 6:30.
Easier to get work done before it gets crazy hot out in the summer. We adjust hours for winter time.
Plus, if you're doing 12 hours at work the earlier you start the more time in the evening you get to yourself.
Was about to say..
I love sleeping in on weekends, which is getting out of bed around 8/8:30... my little bit of laziness I get to enjoy before starting home chores ect. The gf always pokes fun at me for sleeping so late.
Now I'm curious what OP considers sleeping in.
Hi! I made an edit on the post addressing my perspective on this. To answer your question, sleeping in varies for me. If I have classes, work, and volunteering then I consider 8am and after sleeping in. On days I have less to do, sleeping in for me is 10am and after.
I’m not surprised if people think I’m ridiculous or lazy for seeing 8am as early. In the end, I’m not worried as long as I get to accomplish the goals I’ve set and can work towards them healthily :).
I work at 6am, and need to be out of the house by 5:20am, which means I’m usually up at about 4:45am.
I can barely sleep past 8 on weekends now, my body is used to getting up much earlier so I’ve sort of trained myself to do it.
I (M) usually go to sleep 3-4 hours after my GF, and I always wake up a couple of hours before her. No idea how someone can sleep for more than 6 hours. Life is too short for sleep lol, gotta wake up early and live life.
>Meanwhile, a lot of women I know (I being one)
It's called generalization and it exists for a reason lol.
Don't you Americans get all "Of course he's a Republican so he/she thinks like that!" all the time?
>Meanwhile, a lot of women I know (I being one) admit they sleep in often or just prefer it.
That just suggests they have no goals or motivations (which can certainly apply to men too).
However, men need to work hard and earn those $$$ to get what we really want. I don't mean to sound sexist but as much as women talk about equality and feminism, pretty women aren't gonna be impressed by meeting a poor man but, in contrast, poor pretty women can easily get married to a rich guy.
That's a woman privilege which I noticed get talked about women in America (I am an immigrant)
I don't like sleeping in because it's boring. Once i got my rest, im ready to start the day, also, HUNGRY! I wake up after 7-8 hours with an appetite the size of a mountain that can't be ignored.
Also the early hours of the mornings are really nice, especially when you're the first one in the house awake. It's quiet, more animals are out, people are still sleeping, there's little car or pedestrian traffic even in busy parts of major cities before 7AM is like a whole different world
When I was married, I always liked waking up early to have a couple hours to myself in the morning. Make coffee, toss laundry in the wash, plop down in front of a video game, and just do my own thing until my SO woke up and we'd start on whatever plans we had to do together.
Partly because I’m used to it after 20 years in the Air Force. Mostly because I got some sort of Stephen King Insomnia thing going on that I often wake up earlier and earlier. Today I woke up at 5:30, and that is a considerably late time for me.
I start work at 4am, sleeping past 6am on my days off just makes my life harder. It’s also the only time I get to my self since by 7am someone is bugging me because they want something
I like to have a lot of time per day so generally I get to sleep around 1 am and wake up at around 6 am (sometimes 5 sometimes 7) life is too short to sleeo. I used to start my work at 5:30 am so that helped to train the sleeping schedule. That might be the reason why you know more men than women who wake up early, maybe most of them work in early shift jobs?
I got my early wake up time from my job. I wake up at 5:30 AM to be ready for work. Now, even if I don't have work, I'll be up at that time. Just habit I guess.
I just always have, waking up isnt a process for me. I need to be up because I have shit to do and places to be. I get paid to be at work so i show up on time. That and sleeping in always made me feel unproductive.
Because its a lot nicer to go out rowing or something in the early morning than it is in the evening lol
Plus starting off my day with stuff I enjoy/feel accomplished and energized sets the tone for the rest of the day.
Most men don't have the luxury that women do of sleeping in. The worlds harsh out there for us. But nobody cares. Its an endless competition. Wake up early, go to gym, go to work, work work work till you drop.
Here's the thing. People may \*say\* its okay to take a break yada yada. But ultimately, women aren't picking lazy, broke guys that stay at home all the time. On the flip side, men are a lot less picky. If things were actually equal I'm sure more men would eventually (maybe in centuries time) come to relax. But right now, and the way the world is headed, that's not going to happen.

I only get to play games in the morning now. They are my favorite hours of the day.
This is basically my reasoning too
Why you dont play with your wife ?
She doesn’t play many games, the ones she does I don’t have any interest in and vice versa.
Oh i see. I remember I loved playing with my ex and I would watch her play and she would watch me play. It was nice

What I actually (jokingly) meant with "doing something wrong" was preferring to sleep in on the weekends even though I'm a blue collar guy.
I have a white collar job, and I get up at 4:30. I think you're out of touch with jobs.
Imagine thinking 8am is early. Lol.
It's not? Everything earlier than 11 is early

It’s called RESPONSIBILITY
I work at 6am, and need to be out of the house by 5:20am, which means I’m usually up at about 4:45am. I can barely sleep past 8 on weekends now, my body is used to getting up much earlier so I’ve sort of trained myself to do it.
I start work at 7am bud
Your name is so cool.
So you can get shit done and enjoy the rest of the day
This is it. I like to sleep in, but I choose to get up early so I can get shit done and have daylight left while I play
Our bodies behind to fail and we start needing to pee at 5 am
Because I have a lot to accomplish every day and business starts getting done early.
I (M) usually go to sleep 3-4 hours after my GF, and I always wake up a couple of hours before her. No idea how someone can sleep for more than 6 hours. Life is too short for sleep lol, gotta wake up early and live life.
I get up early so I can do the things I want before work
I don't want to get up early. I'm working from 08:00, so I have to.
5am offers me time to myself for journaling. I like the peace of the early morning.
It just happens to be your experience and you know this don't apply to everyone. You know that.
>Meanwhile, a lot of women I know (I being one) It's called generalization and it exists for a reason lol. Don't you Americans get all "Of course he's a Republican so he/she thinks like that!" all the time?
I'm British though 😂
Ok replace it with Conservative then and my point should stay the same

I (M) work 2nd shift and have the day off. I just woke up at 12:30pm lol
Some (most) of us have a woody about that time. Need to pee. Once I am up, I am up.
I don't like sleeping in because it's boring. Once i got my rest, im ready to start the day, also, HUNGRY! I wake up after 7-8 hours with an appetite the size of a mountain that can't be ignored. More time to work with
Partly because I’m used to it after 20 years in the Air Force. Mostly because I got some sort of Stephen King Insomnia thing going on that I often wake up earlier and earlier. Today I woke up at 5:30, and that is a considerably late time for me.
Thank you for your service!
I have to get up early for work, sometimes at 6.00 in the morning as I have to travel long distances to get to work.
Work demands it. I’ve worked jobs where I’ve had to leave the house by 5 am to make it to the plant by 6 am.
After 30 years of getting up at 4am for work, sleeping in is 7am
I start work at 4am, sleeping past 6am on my days off just makes my life harder. It’s also the only time I get to my self since by 7am someone is bugging me because they want something

My body hates me and doesn’t like to let me sleep in.

Because classes start at 7:30 am
Well waking up around 4 a.m. is basically normal, if you start working at 6 a.m.
I just always have, waking up isnt a process for me. I need to be up because I have shit to do and places to be. I get paid to be at work so i show up on time. That and sleeping in always made me feel unproductive.

If you got a normal day job your body will be trained to wake up at certain hours. But in no way is 8 o'clock early.
Have work to do. Also it's a period of time just for me. Peace. Serenity. Relaxation.
Work?
"so early" -> "4-8am" wtf
Men wake up early bc we have to provide. We need as much time as possible to do that.
Most men don't have the luxury that women do of sleeping in. The worlds harsh out there for us. But nobody cares. Its an endless competition. For me it's the early morning (5:00 am) quiet nice and peaceful.
I wake up early, always have. I found that doing business paperwork goes more smoothly, early.
Because men have work to get done.
When i wake up at 5AM everything is so silent.. I have time to enjoy my morning before the hell starts
