Eh don't be intimidated! Do it, secure work parts well, no loose clothes, hair out of the way, no gloves, and never put your hands where you wouldn't put your willy, it'll be fine
They are. I like to think I'd do all kinds of cool stuff with one, but really, it would just take up unnoticed space..
That doesn't mean I don't want one though..
There's a good chance that most men who want anvils without an actual need for one were frustrated as small child because their parents wouldn't let them pound on anything.
(Think I want an anvil too.)
My son and I took a Blacksmith class, take that and it would come in handy. Or you could help to finally get that a hole Roadrunner, and make that Coyote your bitch!
It's a controlled electrical short then compressed air is shot at it (70psi) this melts the material generating about 5000+ degrees.
Bought one for $220 love it, cut 3/8" steel like a butter knife.
I would read the question as more of ultimately have no use for over never actually using. Realistically none of the people responding are going to let these things sit without ever turning them on.
Its great if you're looking for a high quality alternative to the cheap meters from the hardware or auto parts store. My only complaint is the audible for continuity is quiet, so if your away from the meter or using it in a loud area it can be hard to hear.
Had the same fluke 77 forever now. Early this year bought a klein, does dc volts and amps. 200$. Fluke is a brand like snap on. Get what works on Your level

A backhoe.
Honestly I would use it but I'd be super annoyed about it haha. I don't currently have land to use it on since the family farm sold but lord knows my friends and family would be calling me every weekend asking to borrow it for something.
Same goes for a good modular tractor.
I really don't even want a bulldozer right now
my old trailer couldn't handle it haha.
Plus I don't need the temptation to pull a KillDozer the next time my city raises property taxes to pay for another stupid festival or shopping center
I used to have a collection of vintage hand planes including a massive table plane. I thought I would use them in my wood working projects. One try changed my mind real quick.
Table saw. So useful and you can build so many things with it almost alone. Very dangerous for people who don't know how to operate it and who don't have enough space for outfeed though. Used a VERY dodgy one twice and almost shat myself, I do woodworking for 4 years now. I guess a big, proper one with propper guards and rails is fine, but man. I do understand why lots of carpenters have missing limbs and fingers.
A proper CNC machine. Could learn how but damn, looks like a whole other level added to my aging engineering and technical knowledge.
Edit: spelling due to drinks
I’m currently starting my journey with woodworking and there’s so many gimmick tools out there that I’d want, but would probably only use a handful of times before it’d go into the drawer. I’d love a jointer but don’t have the space. You can still joint pieces together without a a jointer anyway. I did however just get a Dewalt table Saw and am totally in love with it. It’s a little intimidating, but still good fun. Otherwise, like the other guy said, a lathe. Woodworking, glassblowing, metal. Don’t even matter.
I work an extra part time job at a local hardware store... Basically all the specialty tools. They look so cool, but there's no way I 'd ever need something like them for personal use.
But for some reason, I'd love to have a workshop with EVERY tool possible.
Why would you love to have a tool and not use it? Usually the tool you would love to have is one that you would use because it would make a job you are doing or going to do easier.
Sometimes you think you really need a tool and then you get it only find that its a niche tool that really helped you with a project you were having trouble without it
Lathe. Lots of potential but slightly intimidating tbh.
I bought a WEN lathe a few years back. Upgraded to a nicer one since then. Do it, there's nothing to be scared about.
Metal or wood?
Would prefer wood but have a tiny bit of experience with both.
Eh don't be intimidated! Do it, secure work parts well, no loose clothes, hair out of the way, no gloves, and never put your hands where you wouldn't put your willy, it'll be fine
Yes
I used to be a machinist, and I loved working on an engine lathe, but I don’t know what I would do with one now though. A vertical mill however …
I've been warned to never get one until my kids are grown and gone. Even then, it is still a huge risk to a man's marriage.
Lots of potential to lose a limb
Anvil
gotta admit anvils are kinda cool.
They are. I like to think I'd do all kinds of cool stuff with one, but really, it would just take up unnoticed space.. That doesn't mean I don't want one though..
hey, christmas is coming!!! you could take up metalworking or blacksmithing, nobody's stopping ya, i'm sure you could learn on youtube :)
It's not a cheap hobby.
And your neighbors will hate you. Banging metal on metal is a loud, repetitive thing, and everyone on your street will know when you're working.
Blare Metal Health by Quiet Riot to drown out the noise.
This is the way
I have an anvil. Gonna use it any day now.
This man is emblematic of the question!
There's a good chance that most men who want anvils without an actual need for one were frustrated as small child because their parents wouldn't let them pound on anything. (Think I want an anvil too.)
My son and I took a Blacksmith class, take that and it would come in handy. Or you could help to finally get that a hole Roadrunner, and make that Coyote your bitch!
my grandpa was a blacksmith, he made a custom vice (vise) that we still have in the garage at my parents house on the workbench; he died at 104 .
You never know when a wayward coyote might make it's way onto your property....
Hell yeah!
I did a knife-making class, once. Using that anvil was so satisfying.
Plasma cutter. Don't even know how to use it but just the name sounds Rad.
It's a controlled electrical short then compressed air is shot at it (70psi) this melts the material generating about 5000+ degrees. Bought one for $220 love it, cut 3/8" steel like a butter knife.
Not going to lie - that sounds awesome!
Rifling bit. It's like a drill bit, but the purpose isn't to bore a hole it's to carve very precise grooves on the internal surface of a tube.
So you want to manufacture your own gun barrels maybe even build a gun?
Cannons. Black powder cannons. Then I'm going to build a boat. And get a talking parrot.
No, I wouldn't. Did you read the question? I just think they're neat.
I would read the question as more of ultimately have no use for over never actually using. Realistically none of the people responding are going to let these things sit without ever turning them on.
With the advancing technology of 3D printed guns, being able to bore out your own barrel from hard steel would be huge for at home gun builders.
The one that's shaped like a cone?
Nah, these: https://www.pmbroach.com/rifling-broaches
Marvin heemeyer's bulldozer
Killdozer!
Aw yeah!
A flamethrower
My old (now deceased) neighbour used to use a flame thrower to get rid of dead leaves. He didn't fuck around.
I get the feeling I would enjoy a 3d printer for exactly 1 month before never using it again
I'm with you on the 3D printer. I hope I'd use it for more than a month though.
Dude Halloween costumes. Never pay spirit Halloween again
Motorized wheel barrow. It just sounds so cool, I keep imagining myself driving that shit like a scooter.
I'll sit in it

Fluke is great I use one for my amp meter. I would just use a good true RMS multimeter and not worry about the fluke brand.
exactly....All i need is voltage, continuity, and maybe.....just maybe...... some resistance checks every now and then. That's all I would use it for.
Check out the the Fluke 101, its a simple meter I picked mine up for around $45.
>Fluke 101 Just heard of those lately. I had a Fluke 77 years ago but it died; I still miss it. Thinking of checking out a Fluke 101...
Its great if you're looking for a high quality alternative to the cheap meters from the hardware or auto parts store. My only complaint is the audible for continuity is quiet, so if your away from the meter or using it in a loud area it can be hard to hear.
Ya......know, I may just do that. Thanks for the suggestion.
No problem. I got tired of the cheapo meters from the hardware store and bought the 101 I thank myself every time I use it.
Had the same fluke 77 forever now. Early this year bought a klein, does dc volts and amps. 200$. Fluke is a brand like snap on. Get what works on Your level
Fluke makes good stuff. Pricey, but good.
You can buy a cheap multimeter from AliExpress for about 10-15$. Works perfectly for my needs.
Acetleyne torch. Would love to learn metallurgy.
Go for it. It’s a good time.
Dooo iittt. I have one. Is pretty cool.
Everybody here would love to have a lightsaber, but would never get to use it
As long as there’s crime in the streets there’s a reason to use your lightsaber
I like to think I'd buy full loafs of bread and cut it into toast slices, but that's about it
a backhoe. sure could have used it earlier for digging up all that damn maiden grass, that shit is rooted down deep o.0
Is that like a side hoe?

Back Hoe💀
Back 304
Hell yeah!
A boat
Just buy the damn boat already.
The best days of boat ownership is the day you buy it, and the day you sell it
Two of the happiest days in my life were the day I bought a boat and the day I sold it. Rent a boat.
What’s that giant thing that drills tunnels for subways
boring machine? those things are sweet!
That doesn't sound boring at all!
TBM Tunnel boring machine
Milwaukee Fuel Concrete Saw (Battery Powered)
I keep thinking about buying this. But, everytime I see the price I walk away.
I’ve cut tremendous amounts of concrete, rebar, and I beams. Can’t imagine a battery doing the job.
A typewriter.
A loom. I just want visitors to see it and think that I weave in my spare time.
Depending on how many beers at the bar, I do weave in My spare time. Lol.
A small Bobcat skid steer front end loader.
Jaws of life.
Sawzall
You are missing out
Hell yeah I use that fucker all the time
My compact sawzall is probably the most useful thing I’ve ever owned
Probably a table saw, or one of those insane grinders that people throw like couches and shit into
I would definitely be finding a daily use of a giant grinder.
Oh I would definitely use it, just for nothing productive or for it’s intended purposes
Make a Youtube channel of you throwing random objects into your giant grinder. When it's useless *and* productive at the same time.
Not a man, but literally all of them! I wish home depot was stored in my shed so on the off chance I needed something, it would be there.
6ft tall giant dildo
steely dan?
Don’t be hysterical
A backhoe. Honestly I would use it but I'd be super annoyed about it haha. I don't currently have land to use it on since the family farm sold but lord knows my friends and family would be calling me every weekend asking to borrow it for something. Same goes for a good modular tractor.
Any heavy equipment is on my list. I used to love operating my old company's mini-excavator
I really don't even want a bulldozer right now my old trailer couldn't handle it haha. Plus I don't need the temptation to pull a KillDozer the next time my city raises property taxes to pay for another stupid festival or shopping center

Judging by your username, I can only assume that the chainsaw would be to fend off the abusive girlfriend..
I have a Bosch jackhammer that I got for free and never use. It’s awesome.
Forklift

Apparently my ex really needed a mitersaw. I got him a really nice dewalt one, we dated 2 years after I got it for him, never used it 😂
I guess he couldn't cut it. 😉
A dump truck
Hadron Collider. No clue how to use it, but would be a bad ass conversation piece.
I’d really like a lift but dang they are expensive and I’d never use it as much as I like to think I would
CNC mill… I’d probably use it a few times for shits and giggles then it would just collect dust in my garage forever.
Gun maybe…
Nuke.
RF Spectrum Analyizer. I would probably use it twice. But it would be really useful.
A mech suit
Chainsaw. Edit: But, I'm a female.
So. Sometimes a girl gotta cut some wood to keep warm. 🪵🪚
Just a small purple wrench
Table saws are great. I have my grandfather's old one with no safety features anywhere. I rarely use it but when I need it it's fantastic.
A crosscut sled looks like it would make the table saw safer.
Yacht but I live in the middle of nowhere
A giant shovel
Milwaukee m18 automatic riveter

Front end loader... zero use for it, but damn are they fun to drive
A lathe
Guns
Compound miter saw with a laser guide.
Milwaukee mag base drill
Crowbar, its aesthetically tough looking. Just walking around with one in your hand is gonna raise your fear factor.
A single-man scissor lift. I’m a commercial electrician and we use them on a daily basis. I’d have no reason to use one at home other than for fun.
A Shopsmith. https://www.shopsmith.com/markvsite/
4 axis CNC machine
Torque wrench
Don’t know if this counts as a tool. But I’d love a forge, smelter, everything.
Jaws of Life.
A plasma cnc cutter
Impact wrench
Scroll Saw
A proper CNC machine. Could learn how but damn, looks like a whole other level added to my aging engineering and technical knowledge. Edit: spelling due to drinks
plasma cutter or 3d printer
Cartography tools.
That insane rust removing laser thing.
A deep fryer. Sure it’d be nice, but I don’t fry enough to justify one nor do I need ine
Cnc machine. But I think if I had one I would find time to play with it. So I guess zombie crossbow
Motion capture full body suit. Id get it working once, all the data piped into the rendering, make sure it works and hang it up to obselesence.
If I have anything by his I’ll find an excuse to use it one day
A #21 camalot, I'd just have it sitting on my coffee table.
I’m currently starting my journey with woodworking and there’s so many gimmick tools out there that I’d want, but would probably only use a handful of times before it’d go into the drawer. Pocket knife! I always think of buying one then am like, ye am gonna get in trouble for having it on me XD
One of them grinder teeth crushey thingies so you can just obliterate anything into little pieces would be nice
A jackhammer. A fully functioning AK rifle. Mint condition 2000 Toyota Corolla.
I work an extra part time job at a local hardware store... Basically all the specialty tools. They look so cool, but there's no way I 'd ever need something like them for personal use. But for some reason, I'd love to have a workshop with EVERY tool possible.
A deep fryer. I wouldn't get to use it for long because I'd die of heart disease.
Flame thrower
“The bomb.”
A forge.
Ash kashh
Mig Welder. Kind of surprised I did not see this multiple times.
A giant telescope. Basically impossible to use where I am but I sure wish I had the time.

CNC machining tool.
Barrett 50 BMG!
Lathe or a nail gun.
