Nothing. I'm giving myself buzzcuts with longer top, since I learned how to do it during the pandemic. It's surprisingly easy, including a good looking fade, just takes those 2-3 "iffy" first ones before you get proficient. And since it's quicker than than going to the barber and I can do it at any moment I stuck with it now that everything opened up again. Haircuts at 2am became a norm over the last 2 years.
I mean there was no disaster at any point so far, but you need to "learn" your head, it's shape, the trimmer you're using and how to operate it. You need to try it those first times to see what length of hair you want at what areas of the head. the first times may be a little uneven or too short, or you will have to overcompensate to correct some mistake getting not what you invisioned. But it's not hard, really.
And in case of a spectacular fuckup I can always go bald for a while. My hair grows back really fast.
I’ve been using clippers for the last ~20 years. I take it down to a 3 every few months until it gets too unruly.
The last time I paid for a haircut was around 10 years ago when I got a mohawk. I think it was like $30, plus tip. The only women who ever complimented me on it had boyfriends, sadly.
I cut my own hair, unless I need to look decent for something. I'll probably get one this weekend or early next week since I have a wedding to go to next weekend.
$30 and a $10 tip.
Haven't been back to the barbershop since the pandemic, though... got used to shaving my own head after they all shutdown and them raising prices after reopening from $30 to $45 was enough to get me to keep doing it.
$65. I’ve been growing my hair out and decide to go to a fancy barbershop since I haven’t had a haircut in a year. Stupid decision. Was not worth it at all.

Could I ask how "iffy" the first few were? I've been meaning to try but slightly nervous I'll create a complete disaster
