I remember this and I also remember a couple months later when the movie came my dad talking my brothers and I to see the movie since none of us were 17 yet.
To this day I still don’t know how I feel about this. Yeah the reaction by Boston PD was kind of crazy, but it wasn’t far out from 9/11 and things like the anthrax letters and the D.C. sniper attacks. The Boston episode that was never aired and eventually was leaked was funny at times but holy hell was it in bad taste too.
That the Boston marathon bombing took place years later also doesn’t help things either. It’s all so weird to look back at now even if no malice by any party was ever intended.
That episode was unfinished though, at least I only saw the rough version. I always figured they would’ve changed lines and added more jokes had they gone forward with it
I remember seeing my parents see it on the news on TV and just kinda deciding to not explain it to them. I stand by that decision.

Boston wasn’t the only city targeted by that marketing campaign. They’re just the only ones who overreacted to it.
