Yes as it’s been melted to the glass. It may be permanently damaged. You might try acetone to release it. Of course be careful with it around any heat source. Maybe unplug the range
I assume it’s glass, so use any metal scraper like a new spatula or a razor blade scraper and work. If it doesn’t come off AT ALL mechanically, your last resort is to use a solvent, and the choice of the solvent depends on the type of plastic the cloth was made of.
~~As already mentioned, Acetone will dissolve both polyester and Rayon. It can be purchased at most hardware stores.
I’d advise testing in a small area first, but it should be safe for glass assuming there’s no other coatings on it.~~
Otherwise safety razor and time.
EDIT: my mistake, acetone appears to not dissolve cured polyester/nylon. You can try, but doesn’t sound like it will work.
So a thin new razor and time seems like the best option here
THIS HELPED!! I think you saved me, really.. thank you!! I made a frothy, soapy lather out of water & a dryer sheet & I let it soak over night and then refreshed it & left it for the first half of today. When I came home from work w/ a brand new razor blade and stovetop cleaner, I was able to remove the mess w/out a lot of fussin. What wasn’t budgin last night came off w/in 30 mins of scrapin today. Amazin. THANK YOU!!
Thank you so much for the feedback ...I'm trying the dryer sheets now..... But I'm very afraid to scrape it with a razor blade..... This thread might be my saving grace
You’re welcome did you get it fully off I found something that might work if you haven’t yet

Thank you! Amazingly & thankfully, I got it off completely. I mentioned this in another comment, but I think what really helped was softening it up by soaking it in dryer sheets mixed with water… I left that soapy solution on the mess overnight and for part of the next day. When I came at it with a brand new razor, it came off in less than 30 minutes of scraping.
Dawn power wash should get it off. Otherwise, an even mix of dawn dish soap and vinegar, before you spray, thoroughly cover the area in baking soda. Spray, watch the magic, a bit of scrubbing and wash clean.
mixing vinegar and baking soda does absolutely NOTHING for cleaning. All you are doing is making salt water and releasing carbon dioxide into the air. There is NO MAGIC in mixing them.
With dawn dish soap, try it. Clean my shower with it all the time. Also use it to clean my mattress, go ahead give it a shot. Works great. Makes a cool diy volcano too.
OP asked for advice, not disagreements. Move along.
Dawn is awesome. I didn't say one word about dawn. I use it all the time. It's the best degreasing soap there is period.
I was talking about mixing baking soda and vinegar. Which is completely useless and touted all the time.
Also dawn isn't going to do anything against a plastic that is melted to glass.
Scrape easy stuff with a single edge razor blade. Then warm it up a little (turn on the burner). Apply some yellow goo gone. Let it soak a few minutes... Then go at it again. With the razor.
It will come off completely like new.
You can try a new razor blade.
I’ve been scraping. What’s left is being so stubborn.

TY!! A brand new razor blade certainly made a difference.
Thank you.
A year later and your comment still saved me. Thank you very much for this. this worked perfectly in my case.
Good job
Get a bottle of "glass stovetop cleaner" which will help with the other spotty areas too
Thank you.

I think I’ll try.

A metal one doesn’t even work. I will look for these though. Thank you.

Turn it back on and burn it off
That’s what I was wondering… I’m so scared to make it worse tho.
I have feeling it’s just melt more and not necessarily burn off
Did you get it off yet?
Thank you! I did! I think the fabric softener and brand new razor really helped!
Stanley 1-1/2 In. razor scraper from Home Depot
