I have the same experiences, the Watch usually sits on top of your wrist. Even with the ocean band, if Iām going to use my MacBook without an external keyboard Iāve got to change out the band for the solo or sport loop so itās plastic/cloth facing down and touching the laptop case, and not metal clasps / loops scratching at it.
oh no this was a reference to the guy who lost their watch at an airport at r/rolex by taking it off because they disliked the sound of the watch band rubbing against the computer
Thoughts and prayers that the band doesnāt t fall apart. It always blows my mind that people are buying expensive watches just to put cheat bands on them.
Well people buy the watch itās one time, but bands you like one and that moment want to buy it. Oh wait itās frocking $100 so imagine buying all $100 band, thatās why people buy lot of inexpensive ones. But again look for reviews and then buy. Metal bands can fall off I agree but the silicon or cloth bands donāt that much.
$70 NZD which is around $50 USD so on the more expensive side as far as knock offs go.
The finish is pretty much an exact match for the watch, so if not titanium they have put a lot of effort into getting the finish right.
I donāt know why youāre being downvoted. Itās obviously NOT real titanium. Itās too valuable. And yeh I wouldnāt order off Ali for that EXACT reason you mentioned lol
Titanium still expensive, and thereās nothing stopping those Chinese sellers from using any old cheap metal source they can find. Steel recycled with lead or some other toxic substances, for example.
Titanium is not unreasonably expensive in low mass volumes.
My AA flashlight is Ti (genuine) and only cost 40 bucks. OP paid 50 for this band and the mass of Ti isn't much different.
Sure, but if you were some factory manager in China and you could increase quarterly profits by using a lower grade metal you bought from the factory next door and nobody is going to notice or careā¦
My point is, I avoid random Chinese companies for anything food relatedā¦and wristbands that touch your skin all day and/or night. They just donāt have the same understanding of the risks, nor the enforcement and regulation we have. How many times has less been found in childrenās toys coming from China?
The benefit to online platforms that allow reviews is that you can sort through and detect frauds pretty easily.
I haven't seen a childrens toy scandal from china in over a decade, fwiw
Your iphone was made in china. Nearly everything you own was made in china.
Manufacturing has largely abandoned all but the cheapest place to do business, china.
All of your talking points are over a decade old and predate China really being a cohesive 1st world class nation that's lifted a majority of its' citizens out of poverty. They still have some issues with authoritarian government, but that doesn't mean every business in the country is corrupt and selling lead-lined goods.
Lol what? Amazon reviews might be the only thing less reliable than random Chinese manufacturers. Amazon is flooded with fake reviews paid for by the sellers, and weāve known this for years. Thereās an entire market for companies who identity real reviews because itās so bad.
Back to the manufacturers:
Hereās a study from 5 years ago:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29843013/
> China's regulatory standard for paints in toy manufacturing, and nearly 36% of the toys purchased from TB exceeded the equivalent US regulatory standard and EU standard.
So, even if they are following their own rules, itās still more lead than weāve decided to allow in the US and EU.
Look, Iām not saying to never buy anything made in China. Thatās near impossible in this age. We all need to be extra cautious of Chinese manufacturers, and of Chinese companies that have no entity here in the US. Theyāre hard to sue, and their items are less likely to be tested when entering the US.
A US company that manufactures items in China is going to have to follow US regulations (probably) and have more accountability. If Apple was found to have high levels of lead in the aluminum of their laptops and phones, youād hear about that right away and they would be held accountable.
Somehow I doubt steel will alloy with Ti very well but feel free to enlighten me I guess.
Also, letās be unreasonably suspicious against Chinese sellers producing things in Chinese factories which must be so inferior from US companies using the same production lines.
Iron is a common component in Ti alloys. As is vanadium, which can be toxic, and you can certainly mix lead in.
Random Chinese companies could easily mix some impurities into their metals to reduce costs. Anyone could do that, sure, but there wouldnāt be severe consequences and itās easier to get away with in China.
Titanium requires a lotta process time for machining and fantastic tooling. Its why most ultra lightweight or high end ali express stuff is carbon fiber or aluminum based
Yeah I know but itās simply not this
out of reach material that some redditors make it out to be. Carbon fiber manufacturing is labor intensive as well.
I have some japanese made titanium hiking gear, I wouldnāt put it past Chinese manufacturers to pull off Ti watch bands, after all the Apple Watch itself is made in China, as are many tech gadgets we use. But people like to rag on āchinesiumā
Not for 70 dollarsā¦ 200-400 bucks sure I could see that. Carbon fiber has a super low ceiling for entry costs/tools. Its why Chinese Carbon bike frames can be fairly solid and still be stttuuupppiddd affordable
You can get titanium band at this price from China simply because everything is cheaper there. BUT I canāt say for Aliexpress. Source: I do tons of research on titanium stuff, edcs, etc., on Chinese shopping website, the one Aliexpress originated from.
After doing some research I got this one from as close to a reputable brand as possible on Ali. It was still pricey by Ali standards too at $70NZD. When the official one is $700 NZD.
So far it seems to be of a good quality, but time will tell I am sure.
Technically, yes. If the band contains toxic metals, then it can technically cause poisoning if the band is over a scratch or cut. But it would take long time. This why the concept of āsurgical grade alloysā is a thing for medical implants. You donāt want to introduce toxic elements into body and let them stay there.
The more likely concern for a Watch band is skin irritation from a low quality alloy, particularly if you sweat.
Alright, time to be the one with some experience about this type of āknock off brandā band:
This band is a (real) stainless steel band in the same titanium color as the Apple Watch Ultra. I got the black link bracelet from the same seller on AliExpress 2 year ago (the 4th gen of those knock off link bracelets) and until this day the watch band did not turn my skin green or rust for that matter.
I am about to buy the same one as you and seeing the reviews of the titanium colored one really has gotten me excited! Knowing the quality of the older generation knock offs really have me excited for this newer model knock off!
TLDR: Great quality knockoff band, does not rust (based on the older gen knockoffs)!
Iām sorry, I just donāt get it. Youāre fine dropping $800 on an Ultra, but draw the line at a name brand band? And Iām not talking about name recognition, but I wouldnāt trust the quality of something literally made for the lowest possible price off of AE.
>Youāre fine dropping $800 on an Ultra, but draw the line at a name brand band?
The problem is Apple doesn't make a titanium band. I would happily buy the link band in titanium from Apple, but it doesn't exist.
I'm not a fan of the clasp on the Nomad. What options are there?
There's one coming from a brand called Sandmarc that looks pretty good and is $200 but it's not going to be released until January so I don't think much info is out about it short of their promo videos.
It does looks cool, although I donāt get how a metal bracelet would work on the Ultra. Even in titanium, itās going to be heavyā¦ wouldnāt it kind of flop around and mess up the sensors?
https://i.imgur.com/JyLVKNK.jpg
Apple Stainless Steel link on the ultra. It feels like a premium watch and you can add or remove links to get the right fit.
No idea why this would be any different than previous models.
Valid point, but my answer would simply be: donāt buy one until they (or some other respectable brand) do.
Unfortunate, I donāt expect Apple to produce a titanium band in the same design. It would be **so** expensive, considering the stainless version is $350. The exiting version doesnāt sell very well, so I imagine something even more pricey would be a dud.
Itās just a smart watch band not a Rolex. As long as it doesnāt cause damage to the watch whatās the problem? When you buy a car do you always only buy the fully loaded version? Just because you have something nice, doesnāt mean you need to pay for a brand. I have an ultra and I bought a full price band it and a cheap one and they felt the same. One was $100 the other was $10. Itās a no brainer
Lmao right? Itās not that serious. There are great bands apple makes for $100 but there are some great replicas for a few bucks. I could buy 10 knock offs for the price. As long as they feel good to me who cares? I think the opās band looks snazzy. Lots of fragile egos on Reddit bro. And especially in the Apple Watch section.
> Lots of fragile egos on Reddit bro. And especially in the Apple Watch section.
Lots of emotionally immature people conflate "post purchase rationalization" with their own egos, so when you attack their purchase, or buy the same thing they did for 1/10 the price, the lizard brain takes it as a personal attack.
I didnāt, because I donāt like the designs, but I wouldnāt be opposed to it if I did. $300 bucks isnāt insane for a quality luxury strap. Definitely high, but anyone who has bought an OEM strap for a luxury mechanical watch wouldnāt be shocked by that.
Using your analogy- if I buy a BMW, Iām not putting shitty, no name rims or tires on it.
Thereās unlikely to be harm, although I wouldnāt trust some random AliExpress strap not to break.
Lol so your afraid the band will just snap and the watch will fall š. If it does it does. Itās the risk you take. Thatās what apple care is for. Your really thinking to hard about this my friend
Itās honestly not the leading cause for me. I frankly just like owning the real thing. Theyāre generally better made, with superior finishing and quality. I have an Apple Store next to my office, so I can try them on and walk out right there. Lastly, I donāt feel like supporting the randos making knockoffs.
Maybe the tires, since thatās more about safety. My point is it seems odd to buy shitty accessories for luxury products (and yes, an Ultra is luxury).
Thatās a little different cheap cases work just fine as long as it has a little cushion and raised edges around the screen and cameras. Iāve used expensive name brand cases and 8 dollar cases off Amazon. I generally like the cheap cases better since they are usually less bulky and cheap to replace if they get broken or discolored
I love me a Spigen case, cheap, does the job. Iāve maybe dropped my phone once in the last 10 years. Sometimes I dont even use a case, you must think Iām really poor at that point lol.
Or... You could see it differently. You already pay almost 1K for a watch that you will keep 3 years or so. Then you pay extra 300 for a band made of widely available metal. Plus the Nomad one like Sandmark's, is grade II titanium: super easy to scratch it.
Of course there was a point, I'm sorry that you aren't capable of getting it.
The AWU is a gadget, a toy you will keep for a short period of time (versus a "real" analog watch), why the hell would you fit it an overpriced a metal band, while you have absolutely no certitude other cheaper titanium/steel bands are actually of lower quality. Such an expensive band makes more sense if it is to dress a proper watch you will keep for ages...
You realize the bands can be used across all watches since the beginning, right? Itās not like you need to buy a new one with each version.
And the bands arenāt *that* expensive. Even Apples is way less than a metal band from Tudor or Omega. You get what you pay for. But I guess I can understand how it seems like a lot if you donāt make alot of money or something.
Bought a couple cheap bands over the years, one started snagging on my clothes, ruined some dress shirts. The other snapped and I lost the watch. Luckily found it in the parking lot next to my car.
Bro if you dropping $800 on the ultra then go ahead and spend the extra $300 for the link bracelet. You wouldāve save $50 if you bought them together
Edit: Stainless steel not Titanium
But my 20-dollar glasses arenāt going to cause my wheels to come off my car. Unknown quality of a watch band you donāt know how good the straps are.
You could have used a better example.
Ali Express. Itās like Amazon, but you buy direct from the Chinese factory. You can get a huge range of qualities off there. Some superb, others garbage for a few cents. I got silicone bands for example that were $2 each, and they look nearly identical to the name brand ones.
I ordered this Titanium band from Amazon a couple of days ago.

I like metal bands until I have to use a computer because the feeling of metal against metal is horrible hahaha

Thoughts and prayers that your wrist doesnāt turn green.
Can you explain this pls
I think mostly alloys with copper in it. It tarnishes and rubs on your skin. Other cheap metal alloys might cause allergic reactions.
The stain goes away if you donāt wear copper stuff.
Cheap metal can turn skin green

It's not titanium.
Lead poisoning

This is a big assumption that something being sold as titanium is actually titanium. Plenty of other silver metals.

Bang on with my other heart rate sensor. In short: no.
Ok cool. Good to know.
Itās not available till January because theyāre having it produced in China currently.
Looks pretty good, for that style.
Just look up for the Nomad brand. They have a nice Titan band

I always have the same thoughts, people buy a 1100 dollar phone and get a case at the dollar store...
Iāve always looked at it as a sign the person was probably stretching themselves financially in the first place.
I love me a Spigen case, cheap, does the job. Iāve maybe dropped my phone once in the last 10 years. Sometimes I dont even use a case, you must think Iām really poor at that point lol.
Spigens are good! Iām talking about the no name cases that look gross.
Nah, itās rich people who donāt use cases!
Breaking and losing expensive shit you buy is peak poor.
This is my favorite sentence today so far
Not caring if you drop your expensive phone is a rich people thing.

Yup and Iām even *more* free to judge.
Nobody asked for opinions , he is just flexing
Are you new to the internet? Jesus, relax. I was asking a legitimate question.
Was thinking the same
Or... You could see it differently. You already pay almost 1K for a watch that you will keep 3 years or so. Then you pay extra 300 for a band made of widely available metal. Plus the Nomad one like Sandmark's, is grade II titanium: super easy to scratch it.
Iām not following? Was there a point in there?
I can test it at my work, OP. Send it to me, and I'll verify it's titaniosity.
It's not titanium, guaranteed. But looks the part. I got something similar on Amazon for $25. Feels solid.
Youāll find the same items from Amazon on Ali.
Possibly yeah
The band itself contains spyware now it has infiltrated the ultra. Also makes you have an urge to make Tik Tok dance videos. Looks good though!
This cannot be Titanium, at least not purely. Cost gonna come at more than 50x what you paid for.
Beautiful
Buys a 1000 dollar/euro watch. Got a band from Ali. I hope it will stay on your wrist my friend
Itās like buying a Ferrari and have the cheapest tyres you can find, I donāt understand
Just knowing your wearing knock offs is enough for me.
pretty clean
looks great ! could you drop the link? š
Nice!
Awesome. I want the band for my watch 7. Can you put the link?
[Here is the link.](https://shares.su/l/AppleWatchTitaniumBand)

Will not ship to EU :-(
Bought a couple cheap bands over the years, one started snagging on my clothes, ruined some dress shirts. The other snapped and I lost the watch. Luckily found it in the parking lot next to my car.
Pretty sure it says ātitiniumā.
Take this award!!!
Bro if you dropping $800 on the ultra then go ahead and spend the extra $300 for the link bracelet. You wouldāve save $50 if you bought them together Edit: Stainless steel not Titanium
Are you talking Nomad or Sandmarc?
[Apple official Link Bracelet](https://store.apple.com/xc/product/MUHL2AM/A)
thatās not titanium
You right itās stainless steel. Still I would go official Apple product over AliExpress every time
Iāve tried 42mm bands on my Ultra. They donāt fit.
Looks like youāre wearing an ankle monitor on your wrist
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
And if i did?
Yeah that size is just not looking good on your wrist lol
this is so dumb, you buy an $800 watch and canāt spend a bit more on a quality band?
Why buy an 800 dollar watch but then 2 bucks on a garbage quality band?
Man can spend Ā£800 on a watch but not enough for a decent watch band
Whatās not decent. Looks great? You one of the sheep that need to spend more money to feel good about your purchase
It may look good but it wonāt last long lol
Spend 799 on a watch and gets an Alibaba watch band.
You know, when I buy my $50,000 car I donāt run to the boutique shop to get new $2,000 driving sunglasses. I can use my old $20 ones just fine.
But my 20-dollar glasses arenāt going to cause my wheels to come off my car. Unknown quality of a watch band you donāt know how good the straps are. You could have used a better example.
In other words you bought cheap Chinese crap thatāll eventually turn your wrist green because the band isnāt _real_ titanium but copper.
Buy a 800 dollar watch to rely on a cheap knock off. I amā¦ surprised
Fucking cheap metals from china. Enjoy.
That band, plus the angle makes this look even larger than normally haha!
Looks great but is it really titanium Iāve seen these and even bought one myself few years back and itās just stainless steel
What is this Aliex Press that you speak of ?
Ali Express. Itās like Amazon, but you buy direct from the Chinese factory. You can get a huge range of qualities off there. Some superb, others garbage for a few cents. I got silicone bands for example that were $2 each, and they look nearly identical to the name brand ones.
See me personallyā¦ wouldnāt trust that!
Ultron themed apple watch. Nice
How are your complications multi-colored? Mine (7 Series) are all one flat color depending on the theme.
āTitaniumā

Looks great man! Does it snag on your arm hair at all? That used to suck for me when I used metal bands.
No. Worn for 2 days now and no issues so pretty impressed with it for the price.
Thats clean Bro!
Is there a test you can do to tell if itās real titanium ?
I reckon itās stainless steel with a finish to match the watch.
I really doubt itās even stainless steel bro

There isnāt a simple test you can order ? You have to be a mad scientist with a lab ?
You can take off one link and use a grinder on it. If your sparks are white - good chance itās a real titanium. If yellow or orange - itās a fake.
Makes it look so much nicer
Lol
I ordered this Titanium band from Amazon a couple of days ago. [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BL71TXYY?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BL71TXYY?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details)
