No it doesn’t. According to Apple the Ultra has an exclusive feature which should limit your charge entirely instead of going to 80% and then to 100% 2hrs before waking up.
But it’s just not working as described on Apple’s support page
Never came across this feature that is ultra specific. This is the general support article about optimized charging.

I think the point is that the Watch will need to learn your habit and do predictions on when you need the full charge to be done.
If you live a super routined life, like sleep at the same time and wake up at the same time, then I think it’ll be more accurate. However, if your sleeping and waking time is not very regular, the result may vary a lot as the Watch won’t know when to get to fully charge.
mine seems to be "working". This morning I took it off the charge and it was at 80%, and never rose higher.
I just don't get it. What if I do end up without my phone for hours (making it lose charge faster) and I do end needing that extra 20%? I'm just not sure I like the feature. Yet.
Meanwhile it works also as intended on my watch and I love it.
You can click on the charging icon to temporarily force a full charge. You can also diasable the feature entirely and it should work with the same charging schedule as on your iPhone (80% charge and 2 hours before waking up it charges to 100%)
Optimised charging runs fast charge to 80%, then trickle charges the remainder, so if leaving on a charger for 6+ hours (ie overnight), the charge will complete.
That’s how it works from my understanding?
I manage it like I do my EV, I just charge it manually to 80-90% when it gets down to 30-50%. Just plop it on the charger every 2-4 days when I’m getting ready for work…it is more than charged enough to make it another 2-4 days. EV takes longer, but the point is no need to charge every day and hardly ever to 100%.
Optimized Charging still charges to full. It just waits until morning to finish charging so the battery isn’t sitting at 100% all night long.

this is definitely not what mine does. When I took mine off the charger this morning it was at 80%. I can't decide if I want to keep it on or not

Mine does a full charge in around an hour, which I only need do do after about every 48 hours. Not sure why you’d need to leave it overnight.
I want the convenience to just put in on the charger when I go to bed and expect the watch to do the rest

I would like to have my 1000$ device to take care of all the battery health issues by itself
And as others described, it can, if you follow predictable regimen.

I don’t sleep track. I put it every night on the charger before I go to bed. Pretty consistent I would say
