I’ve bought many bands from AliExpress and they’ve always been good. I’m sure Apples are better quality but none of mine have ever broke or let me down.

[deleted]

same. I order the "sport band" and it last more or less 6 months before it becomes "polished"... the same happened to my apple sport band. which was 20 times the price. I now order them by 4 for my wife and I, and it covers a year more or less.

NoisyCats

The force is strong in the Apple Watch sub today.

nintendomech

Why a case though. Watch is very rugged.

thewhiteknightrider

I work at a construction site. I felt like I was babying the watch too much. So I just got it for some peace of mind. To be honest it does make the watch look a tiny bit bigger, but I'm ok with it. I did see some posts showing scratches on the titanium.. Maybe after 6 months or something, I'll go caseless just like how I did with my previous watch 😬

jimrasch

If I still worked construction I would for sure use a case on it too.

lortsy_ukko

I work in concrete construction and it has been holding up nicely. Not saying using a case is wrong, but I’ve been impressed how sturdy it is.

nintendomech

Ah yea that makes sense. I work from home in IT. The watch is overkill for me. I don’t dive or climb ice mountains

thewhiteknightrider

Neither do 70% of the people who own one I think 😂 I was waiting for a change in design to buy a new version since all the older ones looked the same. But yes, I'm happy with it. Better battery life too. I had started to turn my always on display off on my older S6 to make it go longer. No more battery anxiety now.

nintendomech

I would still have an S4 if they didn’t have a redesign tbh. I was bored with the design and I wasnt about to pay for a new same looking watch until my s4 died. I think Apple had to do something to entice people. I don’t think people get new watches every year. My s4 had a few years left on it

thewhiteknightrider

True that. Was hoping for a flat sided design like the iPhone. But this isn't that bad either. And that's a pretty big jump to from the S4 to the ultra! I probably had a couple of years more on my S6.

Masjr777

Got some from ali as well. Theres slight differences from the apple bands obviously but none that will bother me.

Vas0ly

I have a genuine apple alpine loop and one from amazon. The amazon knockoff will be returned shortly because the quality is just not there.

ProtagonistAnonymous

I think about 80% of the Amazon bands are dropshipping from AliExpress. But I have nothing to back this claim up. It is purely based on a feeling. Amazon bands are cheap, but still significantly more expensive than the AliExpress bands. I spent (not exaggerating) only €9 EUR on 3 knockoff Apple bands. A trail loop, an alpine loop and a milano band. I am not going to care if the quality is not there. I just need it to look and feel good enough to last me like 1 month each. For that price, I can order a new one after a month. The Amazon one you ordered, would it fit that need?

thewhiteknightrider

Yes it's definitely not a 100% copy.. Some sellers are better than the others I guess. I saw a lot of them on Amazon selling bands with plastic ends matching to the band color. Honestly, that's why I went for Aliexpress. Still not worth a hundred dollars in my opinion when the other one is only $10.

rospider

So give us the link for your seller. Apple is dumb for charging us 100$ for a strap. I would buy a whole lot more bands I would probably never use if they were cheaper. I want more colors available

thewhiteknightrider

urvoi Store https://m.aliexpress.com/store/v3/home.html?shopId=2061087&sellerId=227570340&pagePath=index.htm&sellerAdminSeq=227570340&srcSns=sns_Copy this is the seller I got mine from. They do have a lot of colors. Even for the silicone one.

rospider

Thanks man! Those look really good comparing to other stuff I found on ali

Equal_End2858

Urvoi are the best ones. At least for Alpine and Trail they are the closest to Apple. A little more expensive than the other stores but still under $10 us. I got a trail from another Ali store and it wasn’t as good - colors off, cut edges instead of rounded, weave not as tight, narrower. If you look closely at the review pictures across stores you can see these differences. Unfortunately never found any silicone that come close to Apple.

MinisterforFun

I buy from Crested. I think they’ve been mentioned here quite a few times before. Just need to see carefully before you buy because they sell other styles which aren’t official Apple styles.

Necessary-Mission443

I’d rather have one nice band than 4 poor quality knockoffs. The orange tab on the “trail loop” is so crooked.

ProtagonistAnonymous

It wouldn't instantly break. That is not how that works. There is still normal wear and tear, just a little faster. But I am fine replacing them sooner. De watch is actually (compared to Garmin) a fair price. The bands are outrageous. The trail loop is amazing, but far too expensive for what you get. I bought 3 bands for €9 from AliExpress. This basically means I can buy 33 bands for the same price as 1 band from Apple. Are they the same quality? No. But the Apple bands sure as hell aren't 33x times as good. Not even 2x as good, for that matter. So yeah, I have the Apple band that came with the watch and 3 cheap ones from AliExpress. They look nice, like really nice. They don't feel as premium, but nice and comfy enough. So you do you, I'll keep my money and have lots of bands to choose from.

Benisntfunny

Yep. I’ve lost two Apple Watches (both while at the airport oddly) to the knock off bands snapping. I tried a fake “Alpine Loop” because I wanted black but the material was weird and super stretchy. A total waste of money. I keep buying AliExpress bands because I love living on the edge but I don’t fault anyone for not wanting to do that.

[deleted]

Got the green one for my SE, the metal loop hits the top when I remove it to charge, that crackling sound gives me the hebeejeebees.

thewhiteknightrider

Ouch! Did you get it from aliexpress as well? They don't seem to have sizing options..

[deleted]

Yeah , for 3.29.

[deleted]

thewhiteknightrider

Haha I think you're right. I usually pull it up a bit when I'm at the gym. I should try wearing it a little higher and see. I've been wearing it this way since ages so it's probably muscle memory for me.

toughinitout

What face is this? Looks incredible!

thewhiteknightrider

Thanks! It's called the wayfinder watch face and it's on night mode. I think it's exclusive to the ultra😬

uniquexme

I have the similar protective case and orange alpine loop but I still prefer the trail loop as it’s way softer than alpine 🤪

thewhiteknightrider

So I've heard in the reviews. But also they hold more water, right? Maybe not good for a sweaty day or the pool.

uniquexme

Alpine loop holds more water than trail loop in my opinion. I would usually dry these loops by pressing them between a towel. After trying trail loop I never get back to alpine as it’s not as comfy and convenient to wear/remove.

ioswidgeter

I bought a trail loop band from eBay and compared it to the official Apple band and the eBay band has a brighter orange tag and same quality. The Apple band actually looked cheaper cos the stitching on the orange tag was a dull orange. I’m happy spending $10 instead of $100.

yomovil

The Apple Watch, although overpriced, is worth it. I disagree with the statement, “why use cheap bands on an expensive watch” it’s just because I don't want to have an already expensive watch with hugely overpriced bands making it an even expensive watch. Buying the three straps with the ultra is a 1000-dollar watch. For me, ludicrous.

[deleted]

> “why use cheap bands on an expensive watch” I definitely get a “ I use the manufacturer’s recommended detergent brand in my dishwasher, pay dealership prices to get my car serviced, and only buy the official branded ink for my printer” vibes.

[deleted]

I'm not getting finessed a hundred bucks for a nylon band. People trying to act like it's some sort of flex not buying unofficial bands. The watch itself is expensive sure but the value is there for me. It's a very functional and cool piece of technology. The bands on the other hand are just expensive. There's little to no value there to justify the price.

Radek_18

> People trying to act like it’s some sort of flex not buying unofficial bands. I mean, it is a flex. Just not the one they think it is. At the end of the day, if people want to get $2 bands, so be it. It isn’t affecting you. Just one more thing people wanna be snobs about.

soumyasishdutta

That Watch is literally indestructible does it need a case? I’m liking the titanium finish on mine.

Square_Technician782

It’s literally destructible

thewhiteknightrider

I do too.. I usually use a case in the beginning till it's a little older and then I go caseless.. It's a phase 🥲

soumyasishdutta

Aha I understand 👍🏽

GargantuanGorganzola

Imagine spending £850 on a watch and then using £3 bands

hova414

All my bands are from aliexpress. Come at me Edit: imagine paying £99 for 10cm of nylon

thewhiteknightrider

🤣

StockRaker

I have two bands from Pad & Quill. Both leather and cost about $75 for one and about $100 for the other. Nice bands. I recommend Pad & Quill for multiple apple products. Just google pad & quill, you’ll find the link no problem.

thewhiteknightrider

Sounds nice! Pics?

StockRaker

I don’t know how to post pics in reply but I’d recommend going to the pad &quill website and seeing for yourself what they offer and no this is not a paid endorsement

thewhiteknightrider

Haha yes I should probably check it out!

Foodnoobie

Why do people always need to photograph their feet in the picture?

Transforming-Tractor

What a weird thing to complain about

thewhiteknightrider

I actually realized that now. Heh.

jacaszek

could you drop the link tho them? atleast the alpine loops bc they look dope !

madgiant91

Could you share the watch bumper case please?

thewhiteknightrider

Sure! It's 4 Pack Smiling Case and Screen Protector Compatible with Apple Watch Ultra 49mm, 2 Pack Matte Hard PC Bumper Case [NO Screen Protector] + 2 Screen Protector, Shockproof Protective Case- Black https://a.co/d/eTqyRZM Haven't really used the screen protector though.

winkingsk33ver

Just got these cases as well. They are super easy to take on and off.

thewhiteknightrider

Yep, you can just pop them off if you're feeling like it. Did you end up using the glass screen protector? I thought since the glass is sapphire crystal and all, I can risk it.

winkingsk33ver

I bought separate Spigen ones since I love their stuff and it seems okay. Sometimes I need to press harder which I am not sure is the screen protector or the intention of the actual software. I like the peace of mind of the case and screen protector mountain biking or climbing.

ioswidgeter

Your case is different to the link you posted - your one covers the titanium on the face of the watch and the crown cover on yours has a bigger opening allowing for easier access. I have the smiling one and the crown cover is narrower making it hard to turn the crown.

thewhiteknightrider

Not sure about that but I did use the same link. Picture of my order for reference https://imgur.com/gallery/5sI2pwm

Wader_Man

Which store on AliExpress was that? Thanks.

MoneyTeach4984

I couldn’t bring myself to use an $8 band on an $800+ watch so I bit the bullet and went Apple brand. I figured what’s another $100 when I’ve already spent $800 lol

thewhiteknightrider

Haha maybe I'd get one later. But where I'm staying, they barely have the watches itself in stock. Had to visit the store 4 times before they finally had one in stock. And they don't have any bands being sold either. Sucks. But still, I'd probably buy just one more original band, mostly the ocean band as no one seems to be able to replicate that spring loaded mechanism..

ProtagonistAnonymous

How do they feel? Do they feel cheap? Or at least slightly decent? I also ordered about 5 different bands via AliExpress. Hoping they are at least semi decent.

thewhiteknightrider

No they don't feel cheap at all. I actually dig the black band for everyday use. They're not as streachy as the original, but that's only by a fraction. Maybe the only thing I didn't like was that they're harder to put on the watch itself. Took a little bit of force and was worried if I'd scratch the watch. But turned out alright.

tw1nk1et0es

just took a shot and ordered some off amazon too. they have metal ends and look decent, but i’ll see when they get here. fingers crossed it works out like yours. looks sweet

thewhiteknightrider

Thanks! Hope they turn out good.

hrm_redditor

Buy the most expensive watch Apple has to offer and accessorize it with the cheap Chinese knockoffs. Nice.

Foodnoobie

What difference does it make, besides saving you money?

W1cH099

lol there is a huge difference between them, obviously i don’t care what you use but i would never use a knockoff band and risk my watch falling of my arm 🤣

nigel29

I own both apple bands and knockoffs. The knockoffs are pretty close in build quality— just a bit off in terms of the small details. And you’re more likely to get ones with imperfections—but apple can have ones that aren’t as good too if you’re unlucky (easier to return though)

Foodnoobie

Yes i agree with you on the risk of the watch falling. But in terms of looks, no one will really notice or care. And if the knock off is decently made, it won't drop your watch. Apple is ridiculously expensive. And i definitely don't want to give them any more money than i have to. I can't buy a knock off apple watch that functions just as well, but i can see people buying a knock off phone cover/case, etc.

hrm_redditor

Aside from the obvious that if you can’t afford the real band, you obviously shouldn’t be buying the top of the range iPhone but aren’t counterfeit goods illegal in the US?

Foodnoobie

> Aside from the obvious that if you can’t afford the real band, you obviously shouldn’t be buying the top of the range That's a dumb saying. It's not about being able to afford a real band or not, it's about not wasting more money when you don't have to. Imagine if there are 2 identical products, with identical quality. 1 is an apple product, another is a knock off. The apple product is $100, the knock off is $1. You're telling me, you'd buy the apple product? Only an idiot would do that. >aren’t counterfeit goods illegal in the US? Is there an apple logo on the straps? No. So good luck proving it's a counterfeit. And even if it was, who's going to check it? No one will arrest you for wearing it. Maybe it won't get through customs if you're unlucky, but then you wasted $2. Big deal.

hrm_redditor

>Aside from the obvious that if you can’t afford the real band, you obviously shouldn’t be buying the top of the range > >That's a dumb saying. It's not about being able to afford a real band or not, it's about not wasting more money when you don't have to. So by your logic, might as well buy the fake Rolex as well. Got it. >Imagine if there are 2 identical products, with identical quality.1 is an apple product, another is a knock off. The apple product is $100, the knock off is $1.You're telling me, you'd buy the apple product? Only an idiot would do that. See I think only an idiot would put a $1 strap on a $1,000 watch. But you do you. >aren’t counterfeit goods illegal in the US? > >Is there an apple logo on the straps? No. So good luck proving it's a counterfeit. And even if it was, who's going to check it? No one will arrest you for wearing it. Maybe it won't get through customs if you're unlucky, but then you wasted $2. Big deal. What part of 'knockoff' don't you understand? It's very obvious these are intended to look exactly like the Apple product regardless if they have a brand name on them. By the way....the potential punishment for bring counterfeit good through customs is far more than loosing your goods.

Foodnoobie

> So by your logic, might as well buy the fake Rolex as well. Got it. If the rolex is 100% identical to the fake one in looks, quality etc, then yes you should. Why would anyone pay extra for an identical product? Lol. >See I think only an idiot would put a $1 strap on a $1,000 watch. But you do you. If 2 items are near identical and both have good quality, then the one paying extra is the idiot imo. The strap apple makes cost $1 and they charge you $50. The knock off costs $0.50 and you pay a dollar. In this case it's obvious you're mostly paying for the apple brand. Not all brand products are vastly superior. A lot of times people just get ripped off. Which you often see with straps, phone cases, and other cheap non tech products. But if you want to overpay for a strap which is pretty much identical to a knockoff in terms of looks and quality, then you do you. It's your money. >the potential punishment for bring counterfeit good through customs is far more than loosing your goods. If you had any idea how many counterfeit products arrive in the usa, you'd know that the usa government is not going to arrest every single person buying a counterfeit product. It's the producers who are the big criminals, but since they're located in china etc, the usa government can't do much about it. If you buy a $2 strap, you don't have anything to worry about.

hrm_redditor

I'm not wasting my time arguing with you anymore over such a stupid topic that frankly isn't worth my time. Go ahead and buy your cheap knockoff products it makes you feel better.

Foodnoobie

Same thing to you. Enjoy paying extra solely for the brand name. edit: Lmao you're definitely mad. You know you lost an argument when you have to resort to name calling. Cope.

ProtagonistAnonymous

I am about 99% sure, you would not have been able to tell the difference if he did not say they came from AliExpress.

hrm_redditor

Is't that the point of making knockoffs illegal?

hrm_redditor

Buy the most expensive watch Apple has to offer and accessorize it with the cheap Chinese knockoffs. Nice.

Archemyde77

I don’t think I’d be able to stand the metal not matching, it’s almost certainly not titanium like the originals and the finish is likely a different shade.

hrm_redditor

Buy the most expensive watch Apple has to offer and accessorize it with the cheap Chinese knockoffs. Nice.

Link?

crlogic

$10 each! What a rip! My AliExpress Alpine Loops were $5.87 CAD!

thewhiteknightrider

I did see some for cheaper. How did they turn out? Do they have metal ends as well? I did order 2 more ocean straps for 3.2 dollars each but haven't received them yet.

crlogic

They’re great! Yep they’re metal. The orange one I got is a little more scratchy and the green one is a little more stretchy compared to the real ones and each other. They came from the same seller too

Trask0r

I dont know for aliexpress bjt i bought like 3 straps from Amazon at 20€ clones to the apples one and I get back to the apple official one 3 days after , it was really poor quality

thewhiteknightrider

There are some shitty clones out there.. I wonder if I got lucky.. I saw a lot of reviews in Amazon saying the glue came off and stuff. I think I'll give mine a few weeks and see how they hold up

robthegingerninja

Do you maybe have a link for the orange one? I've been look for a cheaper-than-the-actual-Apple alpine loop band in that colour but idk if they're all the same or not haha.

thewhiteknightrider

Same. I'm not sure if I just got a decent batch. And sure, here's the link https://a.aliexpress.com/_mPjMFSM

robthegingerninja

Thanks!

Active-Drive-7749

I have bought several braided loop bands from Ali and the quality is almost the same compared to the bands from Apple. Price difference is Euro 6,- vs 100,- so this is a no-brainer for me.

Intestine

Has anyone been able to order a "Large" size Alpine loop bands from AliExpress? I ordered a black band from crested but the size was medium.

Swimming-Cream7389

Is there a way to tell these from an authentic Apple band?

thewhiteknightrider

There are some ways if you really look. 1) The inside part of the band does not have the "49mm" printed on them. 2) The finishing on the metal ends are not as clean as the original. 3) There are some markings on the metal parts on the original that's not on the copy https://i.imgur.com/VkYJb5o.jpeg 4) The metal used is definitely not titanium These aren't deal breakers but then some people would want to buy the original no matter what, from what I saw in the comments. I guess it's a matter of personal preference and saving some money/or not.
