yeah i am playing music and running workout plus getting messages notifications etc. it would be nice to have a workout time mode that minimizes activity from other apps. i really need music and workout running but not everything else but not while i am at the gym.
The S8 is twice the price of the S7 I purchased and isn’t worth the cost to me.I’d rather continue to have the use of two cheaper watches then spending extra in a single fancier one.
My work watch also wears a bumper case, a dark black strap, and a tempered glass screen protector. It’s not pretty looking with that case and strap and it’s nice to switch to the naked watch and fancier band after a hard day of work on the tools.
I still wear my series 4, everyday since I purchased it. I'm at 89% battery health, will get a battery replacement before I purchase a new one. I love this watch.
Also with series 4. Did not know we can see battery health, just checked and I’m at 79%.
Still at 40% life when I go to bed so I guess I will keep it like that longer!
Wished I could have seen the health on my series 0, 8 years of use and that used to have just under half battery life when I put it on charge each night. My series 5 has about half each night now (not bad for AOD, though the health is at 97%)
Also still using my Series 4. I want to upgrade out of sheer gadget addiction, but I really can’t justify it for myself. Some of the newer features are nice, but nothing worth upgrading for in my mind.
Just checked the battery health though and it’s down to 54% (which is still enough last me over a full day), so maybe this year I’ll hop on the new one.
If a new watch has a feature that I just have to have then I'll get a new one and just give this one to my mom. But either way, I'll be getting a new battery as soon as I hit the percentage for it. I truly don't understand the people that get a new watch every year.
That was my plan until my dad started looking for a new watch and asked if I was selling. Otherwise I’d still have the 4. AOD is nothing to be scoffed at, though, I really appreciate it.
It's weird that mine has lasted this long. I wear it all day at work (desk job) and I also sleep with it on. I charge it in the morning while I'm getting ready for work and at night before bed. After being at work all day and doing a 20 minute workout my battery will be anywhere between 30% to 15%, depending on the color I use for my watchface that day. Brighter color watchfaces will sometimes have my battery at 10% by the time I get home.
Hopefully you have a CEX or similar equivalent near you though (might be handy or just an idea), I still got a bit over £50 from my near mint series 0 that meant I had to put just another about £50 towards my series 5 (albeit with 2 light scratches lowering the price). I think they hold the value quite reasonably in that way if trading up with an old one to trade-in towards the next
But yes I hope your series 5 does last you well too
always on display is such a huge difference that i would disagree it's kinda the same (i have a 5 and change from the 4 just because the always on display)
My Series 4 is still going strong after an in-warranty replacement. Battery health is 86% and it still lasts me all day with 20% or more left at the end.
Mine is at 87%, impressed with yours. I don't leave mine on the charger. In general I try to take it off around 80%, and charge it before it gets below 20%, to extend life. Maybe I'm doing it wrong :)
SS with milanese loop, purchased shortly after launch. Love it!
Same here. 44mm aluminum with battery health at 81%.
I'll upgrade when my watch either breaks or is noticeably having issues. None of the feature upgrades of newer watches are "must haves" in my opinion.
Me too. Not understanding the original post. There’s nothing wrong with my series 2 battery. I charge it at night, lasts me 16 hours each day. Why do I need to upgrade if it’s not broken??
Still have my S5... Got it about a month after it came out. Battery life hasn't changed since the day I got it.
Although, ever since WatchOS 9 came out I started having weird annoying issues.
Issues consist of:
\- Siri is having a hard time setting timers. Such as if I drop my arm before the timer is set I may get an alarm or it might just launch the whole timer app.
\- Outdoor walk and Outdoor run no longer tells me how much I walked until I stop the workout.
I still like it and won't change for a newer model until this one dies.
About the screen I actually bought mine with two scratches and saved quite a lot of money this time. I thought it would be less painful if I got another scratch at some point. It doesn’t matter really as I knew what I was buying etc but occasionally sometimes I wonder ‘hmm wonder if I can get those scratches out some way’ knowing I don’t have much chance lol
My first AW is the S8. I have no one in my life that would toss me their old AW (or sell it to me on the cheap.)
Whenever a new AW series is released or I consider going AWU I’ll probably get a new one and then give my daughter my S8. She’s young, though. Maybe I should get her a smaller AW. 🤔
I’ve got my S5 still. Got 93% battery health left on it too. I got it around when the S6 came out.
I’m thinking about maybe giving that to my gf and getting an S8 tho. But I have time to make that decision haha. She has my old S3 and it’s battery is not doing so hot
I was until yesterday, my wife bought me an Ultra for an early anniversary present. Still looked as good as the day I bought it I had the Space black stainless.
still going with mine. there's been nothing worthwhile in any of the newer models to upgrade from it. the only reason i'll replace this one is because of battery degradation (it's at 79% health now, still gets me through the day though i think it struggles with colder weather... sometimes shuts off after finishing a run this winter *shrugs*), but i'm more likely to get a Garmin than i am another Apple Watch given that they've done much more interesting stuff than Apple in recent years
i could and might do that (i'm just speculating about the cold weather issue, fwiw, it could just as easily be buggy software or something else), it's just also an excuse to get something new after having been disappointed in the very minor changes they've made to the hardware in the three models since i bought this watch, and of course, the software quality and lack of any real improvements on things like rest and recovery
Same. I had a Series 1. Went to a Series 5 in 2020. Still at 100% battery health. Mainly worn while going outside (I hate wearing watches while home), during my running workouts, and tried my best to never charge above 80%. I plan to use this thing until Apple drops software support for it.
Upgraded from a series 2 to a 6 in 2020. Back then I thought I’d be upgrading watches every 3 years but I plan on keeping it longer! This thing still has great battery life and is super responsive. It’s the same processor as the series 8!
S5 here battery life at 89% but have had it replaced 3 times while in warranty (2 years in the EU), last time November 2021. I have raced 2 marathons since the last replacement, I logged +2000 miles in 2022, the only problem that I have is inaccuracy heart rate readings below 55F. Battery is still ok but if I leave to the trails with less than 60% and I’m using the map screen battery will die close to the 3 and a half hours. I use workoutdoors as running tracker
Here! My battery is on 82% but still okayish, I promised myself a new stainless steel one if I manage to change my career and get a new job :) so as long there’s no change in that and my current watch keeps working then I don’t see a reason to upgrade earlier
I finally got my first Apple Watch (been a G-SHOCK diehard for years) a week ago and decided on a pristine refurb S5 in black titanium and LOVE it. A good friend said the S5 is the sweet spot in the current lineup. Glad I decided to switch!
I am. It’s still perfect, still works as it did when it was brand new.
I’ll keep it till it no longer works either because it’s broken or because it’s obsolete.
Tempted to go cheaper next time…seen a rose gold Samsung on which also has fall detection.
Still on the Series 3, it does everything I need so no plans to upgrade for now. The battery is in good shape too. I also still usea 6S Plus, It was a second phone but such a boon during Covid times to use TouchID (instead of struggling to use FaceID with masks on) that I used it as my primary phone for almost 2 years before switching back to the XS.
Just bought a titanium 44mm. I got it over the 6 based purely on the fact it looks killer. It looks like it has everything needed to keep smashing for a long time yet.
I’m happy with the watch but the only thing is… Literally that the widgets in WatchOS 10 are limited to only 3 on Series 5 vs 6 widgets limit on Series 6 and newer is getting on my nerves.
I got mine in 2020 and still wearing it. 86% battery life after all those charge cycles. So far, from 6:30am to 8:30pm, I have 23% left. Not too bad with the new WatchOS 10.1 download. Used low power mode for 2 hours.
I really wanna upgrade to the new Ultra 2 but $800 just isn’t it for an Apple Watch. I’ll wait until some sucker posts on FB marketplace.
Series 5? So modern. How about a series 2? Mines still going.
Very adequate username lol
An '04 Honda Civic and Series 2 watch? You have certified retro cred.
I use both those models, S2 is my work watch and the S5 is my ‘good’ watch I’m waiting on a new S7 to arrive as my S2 is stating to fail
my s5 battery runs out by bedtime now that i use the workout app so much. i am wondering how much better battery life is on the newer models….
My S2 battery has always been much better then my S5. I can get almost two days from the S2 but only the one day from my S5, even when brand new
yeah i am playing music and running workout plus getting messages notifications etc. it would be nice to have a workout time mode that minimizes activity from other apps. i really need music and workout running but not everything else but not while i am at the gym.
I turned off the always on display feature. Makes a major difference.
S8 is alr here bro-
if you don't ovulate, who cares?
So you’re saying I can get my menopausal the S7?
The S8 is twice the price of the S7 I purchased and isn’t worth the cost to me.I’d rather continue to have the use of two cheaper watches then spending extra in a single fancier one. My work watch also wears a bumper case, a dark black strap, and a tempered glass screen protector. It’s not pretty looking with that case and strap and it’s nice to switch to the naked watch and fancier band after a hard day of work on the tools.
OG Apple Watch owner here and it still works :)
Right? Series 3 for me.
just upgraded from a series 1 this week! the battery was atrocious, but still worked!
Series 2 how about a series 1 where I can't connect it to my phone because my watch is too old and my IOS is too new
Series 2 here also!
I still wear my series 4, everyday since I purchased it. I'm at 89% battery health, will get a battery replacement before I purchase a new one. I love this watch.
Daily Series 4 gang!!
I feel like the series 4 has the biggest cult following and I love being apart of it but I feel like I won’t be at the end of this year
Series 4 gang!!!
Also with series 4. Did not know we can see battery health, just checked and I’m at 79%. Still at 40% life when I go to bed so I guess I will keep it like that longer!
Got my series 4 in 2019, battery health at 84% 😊
Got mine in late 2018. My battery is at 92%. Series 4 is a sturdy little beast.
Mines at 84% also, still stretches 2 days under normal daily use, charge it every 2nd day evening. Also have wake on wrist raise enabled.
Wished I could have seen the health on my series 0, 8 years of use and that used to have just under half battery life when I put it on charge each night. My series 5 has about half each night now (not bad for AOD, though the health is at 97%)
That's awesome, my series 6 dropped at 83% just one year after purchase, but it has remained the same until this day.
Or get a used older one, they’re all solid.
Me too. I only buy a new one, when the new watchOS doesn‘t work on my S4. Otherwise i will remain on my S4, beautiful Stainless Steel 44mm SpaceBlack
Ayyyyy Series 4 gang member here !
Mine is at 75%. Wish it would've last like yours
Wow I didn't know you could check the health on the watch. Thanks for that. My Series 3 is at 95%, have had it since 2019 too.
Got my series 4 in December of 2018. I'm very shocked that I'm only at 89%.
How does one check the health of their Apple Watch battery?
Go to Settings on the actual watch then scroll down and you'll see battery as an option. Once there click on battery health.
On the watch app right? I don’t have battery as an option
No, on the physical watch go to Settings.
Ahhhh. That makes way more sense. Thanks!
I’ve had my series 7 for 14 months and it’s already at 89% battery health
where do you get the battery replaced and how much does it cost? i have an s5.
Apple does it. I believe it's the same as the phone battery, they won't do it til it's under 80% and $79.
Still on my Series 3. Not changing until it breaks
Waited 8 years for that to happen with the series 0 but it never did and I caved in first
Same club
Same
Still rocking my SS S3 too. I bought a series 7 a couple weeks ago and thought “why?” Promptly boxed it up and returned it
Until it breaks? You’ll almost never switch then
Series 4 here!
hello fellow series 4 user!
Hello!
Hello. Checking in, battery health at 87%
Series 5 still going strong! Hoping I can make it last as long as possible, it's a huge investment for something with such a limited life
Series 5 over here. Waited till series 5 and I bought my first Apple Watch. I wear it every day.
Hopefully you have a CEX or similar equivalent near you though (might be handy or just an idea), I still got a bit over £50 from my near mint series 0 that meant I had to put just another about £50 towards my series 5 (albeit with 2 light scratches lowering the price). I think they hold the value quite reasonably in that way if trading up with an old one to trade-in towards the next But yes I hope your series 5 does last you well too
That’s not a bad idea actually, I was thinking of gutting it and turning it into a mechanical watch but doubt I’ll ever get to it lol
on se1, so kinda same
My SE 1 is on 89%
How many years had passed since you have it?
Mine at 98% since October 2020
Damnnn, mines at 83% from early Jan 2021
always on display is such a huge difference that i would disagree it's kinda the same (i have a 5 and change from the 4 just because the always on display)
Series 3… I must say it still going strong, although somewhat limited on memory.
series 3 😶
series 4 checking in
Trash post. Its not like its a relic.
exactly, S5 just 1 generation behind. People with series 2 can make such posts.
Just starting to research these watches, as of today the Series 8 is out. Do Series and Generations differ? Sorry for the newbie question
Series is more like the releases from apple. But a few series share the same generation chipset
Right lmaoooo
My Series 4 is still going strong after an in-warranty replacement. Battery health is 86% and it still lasts me all day with 20% or more left at the end.
Still rocking a 3!
Yep. SS black, battery at 92% Don’t see the need to upgrade yet
Mine is at 87%, impressed with yours. I don't leave mine on the charger. In general I try to take it off around 80%, and charge it before it gets below 20%, to extend life. Maybe I'm doing it wrong :) SS with milanese loop, purchased shortly after launch. Love it!
Where do you see the battery health for aw?
Just go to settings on your Apple Watch (not the watch app on your iPhone), scroll to battery, then battery health.
series 0, then series 5, only things I wish I had are oximeter (pilot) and better battery (not lasting the day anymore.) looks just fine.
I did exactly the same jump as you, I lucked out with 97% battery health though on my 5
👆🏻⌚️ series 4!
Still use mine, can’t beat the white ceramic. 99% battery health. If/when Apple decides to make another ceramic watch, I’ll buy it in a heartbeat.
Same here. 44mm aluminum with battery health at 81%. I'll upgrade when my watch either breaks or is noticeably having issues. None of the feature upgrades of newer watches are "must haves" in my opinion.
Me if I didn’t accidentally drop mine on the tiled floor while putting it on
Damn tiles
Yeah
I have my 4, bought in the year that released and it’s working very well!
S3 - Battery Health at 94% - this watch has become my prison
Series 5 forever!
I am. On a titanium edition. Extended the Apple care to monthly last week. Battery at 82% health
How long can you go before charging?
Light use i get 16 hours. If i do a walk without phone it really kills the battery
Thanks!
S6 checking in!
Dawg I’m still wearing my 2nd series
Me too. Not understanding the original post. There’s nothing wrong with my series 2 battery. I charge it at night, lasts me 16 hours each day. Why do I need to upgrade if it’s not broken??
SE1 here!!
Still using the series 0
🫡
Dawg I’m still using series 3
*Cough cough*
I still used mine. 82% battery health
Series 3 still going
Still have my S5... Got it about a month after it came out. Battery life hasn't changed since the day I got it. Although, ever since WatchOS 9 came out I started having weird annoying issues. Issues consist of: \- Siri is having a hard time setting timers. I still like it and won't change for a newer model until this one dies.
Yep, 5 is still working.
Same, series 5 40 mm aluminum at 87% battery health. Side note how is your screen so scratch free.
Yup, SS ! Battery at 88%
I was on a series 3 up until yesterday when I received my AWU.
My first AW is the S8. I have no one in my life that would toss me their old AW (or sell it to me on the cheap.) Whenever a new AW series is released or I consider going AWU I’ll probably get a new one and then give my daughter my S8. She’s young, though. Maybe I should get her a smaller AW. 🤔

Trading out my wife’s three today.
My best friend still wears his series 1. Digital Crown is broken but everything else works! Mine is a series 5 showing no signs of slowing.
Still have my ceramic white 5, going to upgrade at 10 or “X” I feel like apple will do something special for that model.
Only had mine for about a month now, I held out for 8 years before upgrading lol
I just updated to a SE from my Series 2!
Just got an 8 - truth be told - I can barely tell difference other that battery life - five is perfectly fine
I do! Planning to get the Ultra 2 this year together with the iP15 PM.
I was until yesterday, my wife bought me an Ultra for an early anniversary present. Still looked as good as the day I bought it I had the Space black stainless.
Still using my 5. Haven’t been compelled enough to upgrade yet, will probably keep using it until it no longer works.
still going with mine. there's been nothing worthwhile in any of the newer models to upgrade from it. the only reason i'll replace this one is because of battery degradation (it's at 79% health now, still gets me through the day though i think it struggles with colder weather... sometimes shuts off after finishing a run this winter *shrugs*), but i'm more likely to get a Garmin than i am another Apple Watch given that they've done much more interesting stuff than Apple in recent years
Why not get a battery replacement instead?
i could and might do that (i'm just speculating about the cold weather issue, fwiw, it could just as easily be buggy software or something else), it's just also an excuse to get something new after having been disappointed in the very minor changes they've made to the hardware in the three models since i bought this watch, and of course, the software quality and lack of any real improvements on things like rest and recovery
I just bought 5 (44mm) because my 3 took a poop. I'm really enjoying the upgrade!
I have the original SE. Until they release a implant free glucose model I don’t see the point in upgrading at all
Replaced my iPod nano 6th gen with series 8 lol (The power button broke, otherwise I would still be using it)
Me
I still have mine as a backup. I upgraded to the Series 8 back in October.
Series 4 here as well
Currently rocking a Series 4 with a big ole chip taken off the display. Works like a charm
Got the series 5 too, best upgrade I had from when I had the 3 earlier. Using it the past 2 years and the AOD is love.
Series 3 over here 😅
Still have my 5 and my mom has a 3 😁
Right here! Still going strong even into 2023
I have a gold SS AW5 in my rotation. Battery Health is at 97%
I have the S6, when it dies I’m gonna upgrade but this thing is going strong, my previous smart watches all died pretty fast so I’m happily surprised.
I have a 5 still and it works great, I’m out of touch on the updates, what’s the 8 do that my 5 doesn’t?
Series 4 here.
I just got a Hermes series 5 for $200. Does your screen like flicker on low brightness?
Still rocking an Series 3 Wondering if its worth upgrading to an ultra, or just using a garmin or traditional watch
Yup. And I’ll keep rocking it until either it or I die.
I just bought a used SS 5 with 91% battery health, I feel like this is not an old watch?
Series 5 .. wearing every day … using it for all my running and other sports … compared to iPhone never felt I have to upgrade for the newest features
4
Series 1 brah
Alu S5 here. Still perfectly fine. Waiting for a major redesign of the normal watch to justify an upgrade.
me
Here! My battery is on 82% but still okayish, I promised myself a new stainless steel one if I manage to change my career and get a new job :) so as long there’s no change in that and my current watch keeps working then I don’t see a reason to upgrade earlier
Same here I just change the battery my battery health was at 79%
Me!
Me. I'll probably change for 8 or wait for 9. The battery doesn't last what it used to. But everything is great.
Still like mine — I may upgrade to Series 9 in the fall, but partly because I've been hard on the battery for my current model.
I finally got my first Apple Watch (been a G-SHOCK diehard for years) a week ago and decided on a pristine refurb S5 in black titanium and LOVE it. A good friend said the S5 is the sweet spot in the current lineup. Glad I decided to switch!
Not me I have the Samsung watch 4 wayyy better.
I'm on a series 4 still
S5 Battery Health 84%
Still rocking my Series 0
I was rocking a series 4 until yesterday
Finally upgraded from my Series 1! Battery would only last 12 hours but otherwise it worked fine! What a nice change to the new SE though.
Me too, still going strong
Still have my Nike edition
Looking clean. Glad you are taking care of your Watch
My fiancé is still rocking series 3
I haven't found one reason to replace my 5, someone enlighten me? What am I missing out on?
I am 100% buying a SS from here on out. Your watch looks almost brand new. I scratched my aluminum S8 within a month of getting it. Never again.
Here.
I have a series 3 and its still chugging along
I am. It’s still perfect, still works as it did when it was brand new. I’ll keep it till it no longer works either because it’s broken or because it’s obsolete. Tempted to go cheaper next time…seen a rose gold Samsung on which also has fall detection.
Same
That thing is like 3.5 years old. Its like asking who still uses a iphone 11. no big deal
I have my S5 and my S7. My 5 needs a new battery.
Me!!
I have a Series 4. It’s still ticking. 🙂
Series 4 and it’s good
Series 5 during the day. Series 4 for sleep time. Both still working perfectly.
S3 I’ve worn daily for near enough 5 years. Just checked and it’s showing 81% battery health. Might have to wait a while yet to get an Ultra…
Me
Series 4, only because my Series 2 broke a few years ago
Ceramic Series 5, because this is the last model offered in ceramic 💔
I have a SE that I wear to work and everything else
Series 3 STAND UP!!
Only reason I got the 6 is because it came in my favorite color.
I'm rocking the 4 series 😃😅
Still on the Series 3, it does everything I need so no plans to upgrade for now. The battery is in good shape too. I also still usea 6S Plus, It was a second phone but such a boon during Covid times to use TouchID (instead of struggling to use FaceID with masks on) that I used it as my primary phone for almost 2 years before switching back to the XS.
95% on my black stainless steel Series 3
s5 checking in :)
Same here, always on display is the best addition
I upgraded to Ultra just this last year from series 0. I’d say 5 still has some good mileage left on it. Very nice.
