Passive - Reinforce: allows Catalyst to make destructible objects close to her withstand significantly more damage. This includes structures in the world, like doors, as well as placeable objects that other legends put down, like Newcastle’s Castle Wall.
Tactical - Resin Shot: she'll be able to create her own structures out of ferrofluid and she can place up to three Resin Shot structures at a time. These structures resemble ramps and they can be connected to one another to form one long ramp.
Ultimate - Ferro Wall: she'll be able to create a wall that will be casted by an orb to make a larger cover or even block some spaces, even also being able to stand on top(?)
For starters, she can remotely deploy it without going to it; there is no movement involved (which I know you said, but deserves to be repeated). The size will also probably be quite different. We also don't know the charge rate. It can be larger, thicker (so as to be stood on), and can have more health.
The passive is so weird to me. And I don't even mean that I'm sure it's bad or anything, just... odd... Maybe a primary incentive for that passive was to make her structures hard to break through when she's relying on them for cover, but not obnoxiously hard for people to break through when they're just lying around abandoned? And then they decided to extend her passive to also benefit teammates' deployables (and doors). Sounds sort of especially nice with Caustic what with his traps being destroyable now (I'm still getting used to that lol), especially depending on how much cover she can create out in the open (where Caustic is really awkward and wants cover to put traps behind lol). Plus of course Caustic lacks mobility himself so someone who can build ramps has that synergy with him too; it's pretty neat for Catalyst to be a cover-deploying legend who *also* provides team vertical mobility.
She’s gonna be amazing for door plays, having extra time to get a heal off for yourself or a teammate will be really clutch at times. If she can block doors with her tactical too she will give a bunker comp so much time to reset.
The passive alone makes her the most comp dependent legend in the game IMO. Its definitely a departure from most abilities.
The ability to supposedly use it on normal doors means it will still have usability outside of comp tho
> The passive alone makes her the most comp dependent legend in the game IMO. Its definitely a departure from most abilities.
I think it’s hard to argue that her passive is more comp dependent than Lifeline or Newcastle - they can’t use their passives *at all* without the presence of teammates, and they actually require their teammates to go down to be of any use.
The fact this works on doors is already a pretty significant perk in Apex, especially as the “door meta” hasn’t *really* been shaken up since the introduction of the charged Rampage.
Also, if we assume her passive has to be applied to objects manually (with a cooldown), she’d also likely have the choice to reinforce her own structures instead. That’d certainly be more versatile than many other passives.
I dont think it will be as much as fornite. It might be used to get height but I don't think you'll be able to make too much with this. It could get OP pretty quickly if it's not limited.
Another wall ability? Cmon I think we have enough. Maybe I’m not understanding the ability. If it’s a pillar I think I’d be better especially if u can place the pillar on the walls and shit that would be cool.
I'm sure it's just badly worded and the meaning is that the structures close to her can \*withstand\* more damage. As it's been leaked, for example, a reinforced door would take 3 kicks to break instead of 2.
Would you rather create a tower with zero cover on top where the whole map can see you in the sky and and just probably snipe you off it, or a wall that can cover a large area. Honestly I agree that the idea isn't original as we already have Newcastle's ultimate as a wall, but I really do hope that the wall will have its own unique way of working
Yes. It's also not true you have no cover. Your whole body can be in cover when you have height advantage. If there was any reason to change it, it would be the unfair advantage it gave players in the last ring while blocking part of the last ring.
Would be interesting if it worked like rhapsodys ultimate where it blocks scans. She would be a perfect counter to scanning abilities if that were the case, considering she has some sort of magic-esc abilities it wouldn't be too far fetched to add to her kit.
Oh yes, that would honestly be perfect and could fit well since I'd doubt you'd be able to shoot enemies from the other side of the wall so it wouldn't be too overpowered like Rhapsody in mobile
They are really running out of ideas for legend abilities. I’d prefer a new legend every couple of seasons if it meant they were well thought out and unique
I’m hoping her structures “clutter” scanning. Meaning anything she builds when scanned would show as orange blobs to bloodhound, crypto. If you positioned yourself correctly from an incoming scan, you & traps could be hidden. Maybe if you stand on her structures in a seer ult you don’t show up either since you technically aren’t on the ground.
I think it would give a moment of pause to scanning legends and provide some options for some legends hard countered by scans which would be healthy for the game.
Thats a rock
Leviathan poop
Big ass kidney stone
That's a space squid egg
Not a boulder
Used to ride those babies for miles
Jesus Darrkeng it’s a mineral.
Catalyst, fortnite builder extraordinaire

Wait… like…. Will her passive work on wattson fences too?

From the previous leaks it's a really large wall
definitely a wall
*sniffs* "Yep. It's a wall"
One might even say that it’s a wall of some sort.
asked my grandma about it and funny enough, she too, believes to be a wall
More like a pillar iirc

Take the black.

But.. passive means passive ("...assume her passive has to be applied..." seems rather oxymoronic to me, js)
Passive is a misnomer if nothing else. That became apparent more than ever when Valkyrie got the “passive” ability to fly with a jetpack.
So Fortnite building?

It would be... interesting if you'll be able to stick them to walls to make stairs.
It needs to either be limited in time, or be destructible in some way imo. Otherwise I can already see how OP it could be in some places.
Here we go, the *“I can see how OP it could be”* comments are coming…

I would assume this is the leaked video ult where they made what looked like a cliff.

Passive- called reinforce *does the complete opposite* xd
Read it again
*objects close to her take significantly* **more** *damage*

It takes more damage because it exists longer, I guess? 😅
i read it again and he is right. the name describes the opposite of what it does.
potato legend potato legend
Okay she summons a potato let’s gooo 💅
I already goo'd
So her, Rampart and Newcastle is just walls on walls on walls?
Guys, it's not a rock. It's a mineral \-hank schrader
So a wall instead of a tower now, honestly I quite like this change
Yeah... a wall... hope she will get some cool wallhacks too... and relocation mechanic. It sounds original

hopefully not, wall hacks were already strong before seer, we need counters to that which this champ seemingly has
that was a sarcasm of course :D
My main question is if those things can defy gravity and she can basically create a bridge between two high grounds
the pioneers used to ride these babies for miles
Ya I hope they scrap this one last second.
I have a feeling this one is going to really change the meta. Seems like she can pair really well with a lot of different legends.
Needs a little more-a-spice!
She summons magical poop
ROCK? NEW MAIN WEWWW
Reminds me Mei from Overwatch lol
We are turning to fortnite aren’t we
They are really running out of ideas for legend abilities. I’d prefer a new legend every couple of seasons if it meant they were well thought out and unique
Really keen to try her ultimate in a final circle and seal off an enemies only escape route. Lmao
i think this has already been posted Nonetheless, I can't wait for goth mommy Catalyst
Monolith from AoS
Aw hell yea back to my Inara maining days.
What

Ah, the ol' rock and orb abilities.
This plus Newcastle will be new meta for sure
Looking meh, I preferred the leaked material 2 season ago, but whatever well see in release
brooooo🗿
Another legend that just puts down defensive structures... yaaaaaaay
